If you are looking for manicured, super flat areas or have a fear of animals - this is NOT the place for you. There are also a HUGE number of factors that can affect your stay that I have ZERO control over... The seasons change a lot of things throughout the course of the year: we have snakes (like ALL Aussie bush places) for most of the year, according to their seasons, varying growth stages of grasses (long, short, brown, green and sometimes grass seeds/prickles.. along with some crazy weather (high winds, high temps, storms) on occassion - NONE of which I have any control over.. so if you are a moaning myrtle and any of those things are likely to bother you, please don't come to our property... If you accept that you are staying on a working hobby farm / equine property and that I have no control over nature - then welcome, there is much beauty here for those who have the eyes to see - and as a base to explore the Perth area, we have a pretty convenient spot :)

100-Acre Woods

18 sites · RVs, Tents100 acres · Mandurah, WA
We are a hobby farm set on 100-acres on the North Dandalup scarp, with a few sheep. You will find kangaroos, echidnas, sometimes emus visiting our property. You can enjoy the great views into the horizon towards the Indian Ocean amidst the tall jarrah and gum trees. Campsites are set in the woodlands, some with views. It’s perfect for people seeking 'quiet' time away, but still near to amenities in the towns around here. You can take walks to experience forest therapy, have a campfire or canoe in the dams during wintertime. There is no power, water or toilet facilities so campers must be completely self-contained. You are expected to clear up and take all rubbish with you. Leave no trace. The terrain is rather hilly, hence a few sites are accessible only by 4WD (Sembawang and Changi). There are some sites that are still accessible with regular cars (Opera 1, 2 or 3; Tampines, Bedok). RVs and small caravans are welcomed. All vehicles have to stay on the paths, and not to make any tracks. During the summer fire season, fires are strictly prohibited! The fire ban commenced on 1 Oct 2023 (Shire of Murray). Dogs welcome (on leash).

Jacaranda Hill Farm

16 sites · RVs, Tents108 acres · WA
We are closed from 1 Dec through to 31 March due to High Fire Risk. Our 43-hectare property is on the edge of the Darling Scarp behind the historical Fairbridge Village. Only 1 hour south of Perth, so it is close enough for a quick weekend getaway but far enough to enjoy the silence of the bush. There are elevated campsites with views west towards Mandurah and the Peel Estuary, northwest views toward Perth City, and three dams on the property. Guests must be fully self-contained, as no toilets or showers are available. Just amazing views :) Some locations are suitable for tents only, and some for caravans only. 4WD/AWDs are recommended as most sites are not easily accessible with a 2WD vehicle, especially during winter. Dog friendly. Campfires are permitted in designated areas with the host's approval (depending on fire restrictions). We are closed over the summer period due to increased fire risk.

Coastal Hideaway

2 sites · RVs, Tents5 acres · Herron, WA
Come enjoy our 5-acre Coastal Hideaway nestled along Mandurah estuary, just 30km south of Mandurah CBD. Immerse yourself in a pristine bush setting mere minutes from both the beach and the enchanting Mandurah Estuary. Enjoy crabbing and fishing, and for ocean enthusiasts, indulge in fishing and surfing activities by the nearby coast. The perfect blend of tranquility and adventure. Our property is on a steep hill, our views from our home are too good not to share with you! We currently offer just one camp spot, "The Platform site" that pictures of the view just don't do it justice! Its located right on our back door step, so please be mindful, we love the community environment & love a good chat, so if you are after complete privacy perhaps this isn't the place for you. The Terrain: Please bring a sand mat, as after a long dry summer its very sandy & boggy. Just be mindful with larger vehicles, there is the chance of getting bogged. Friendly dogs welcome: However our property isn't fenced we ask all dogs to remain on leash, kids will also need to be kept a close eye on due to the steep terrain. We have also just started fostering a dog who barks when she sees other dogs, we are doing our best to minimise and control this, and hoping that exposure therapy will slowly help her, we can usually tame her inside. There is also friendly free ranged chickens roaming, we are happy to put them away if your doggos think they may be dinner! There is no cooking facilities on site, also please read up on the fire ban in the area the dates you are looking to come, if fire ban is present no open flames are aloud! Tea, coffee and cacao available on request, you can add on later to your booking if you decide. You can also purchase free range eggs and even rent a paddle board, and some crab scoops. We look forward to hosting you at our property, Ebony & Eurwyn

Everything Horses Ltd

4 sites · RVs, Tents5 acres · Henley Brook, WA
5 beautiful acres in the Swan Valley with horses, we run a horse rehoming charity from here where all proceeds from hipcamp go to support our facility. Along with plenty of horses, you'll also see kangaroos at certain times and our pet sheep Jamima who thinks she's a horse! A superb property with a winter creek and an open paddock where the horses live. It's very peaceful. There are only two camping sites available on this wonderful property at any time so privacy is assured. There is also a dam on the property so please mind any children with absent swimming abilities. Campfires are allowed during the season, and there is a toilet and shower available in the shed 100 meters from the camping area. Smaller groups booking the campsites will have full access to the toilet and shower. Please note, however, we offer a group camping option for larger groups but those booking this option must be fully self-contained as our facilities are not enough to support a large group. We have a strict Leave No Trace policy here, we kindly ask that you take all rubbish with you when you leave. We also ask that you please do not feed the horses. The property is well located to access many great wineries and cafes in the famous Swan Valley area, some within walking distance. Security here is taken care of by Mr security guard "aka" Smoky our pet dog. He's very safe and timid. If you get a pat from this boy I know you're good, so beware! We are dog friendly here, so you're welcome to bring mans best friend and we also have a secure yard to house any pets if you need a break, so long as they don't hassle the horses. We may also be able to accommodate your horse - please discuss this with us prior to booking. We look forward to welcoming you to Everything Horses ltd where you can enjoy one of the last pockets of peace left in the Swan Valley area. We are everythinghorsesltd on Facebook with current uploads to see more of the property and animals here. Nanga River Retreat, Dwellingup.

3 sites · RVs, Tents40 acres · Nanga Brook, WA
Tonight only, Tuesday 26/7, use code GXE5P9ZB to get a site for half price. Both sites available, 1 night only. We're back folks, after a long hiatus we have re-listed at a new property and we can't wait to see all you wonderful Hipcampers again, to catch up with the old and meet the new. We have a beautiful and secluded site to offer, right on the banks of the Murray River and deep in the heart of the Dwellingup State Forest. All bookings here are exclusive, so whatever pass-time you choose will be the sole theme of your stay. An excellent and inspiring spot for artists, with a hundred views worth capturing in any form from charcoal thru oil, to digital. Many wonderfully tranquil places to sit and ponder, draw, write, and wonder. Truely 'En plein air' Amazing birdwatching here, with highly populated tree lines and shrubby areas surrounding and throughout the property. Superb Star gazing opportunities too, with wide open and un-interrupted views of the night sky in every direction, from various vantage points available around this lovely 40 acres of beautiful river front property. Nanga River Retreat is an outdoor adventurer's dream, with truly wild forest country to be found between the property and the river in many places. 🌲 The heart of the last real Jarrah-forest is right here for you to explore, with canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hiking, and biking all great ways to spend your time here. In fact, if youre into bikes, you'll be happy to know there's quite a few things around town to amuse you. Firstly, it's only 10 minutes to a great local skate park and pump track, one that lures riders of bikes n boards alike of every skill level and from all around. Its a family friendly arena and boasts a really good playground right there on site for the little ones (and right next to Way Points Cafe for the not so little...). A bit further out is the Turner Hill bike track, and of course from town there is local access to the world famous MundaBiddi trail. Also, and much closer to home, is the Murray Valley Trails Mountain-Bike Area, and as the crow flies its only around 2kms away. Western Australia's newest and best mountain bike trail area, with 35kms of single-track MTB trails, varying from Easy rolls around Lane Poole Reserve, to Difficult and fast black diamond downhill runs for those brave souls who dare it. Check out Murray Valley Trails online. If bikes are not your thing, or for anyone that just wants to tap into their inner primate, Trees Adventures Dwellingup is only a short drive over the hill (just 5.5kms from the gate) and is an incredible day out with the kids. Actually its an incredible day out for anyone with the rightly mixed senses of adventure and humour. This is a blast, its much more fun than it might sound like, and we highly recommend it! Dwellingup is known as 'The place that trails meet', and there is local access to a seemingly endless selection of walk paths, bridle trails, and bike tracks of every description. There's plenty an orienteering challenge that also awaits, 🧭 this is a perfect part of the scarp for those wandering souls who enjoy getting lost in order to find their way... We love all animals here at Nanga River Retreat and we'd love for you (by pre-arrangement please) to bring yours along. We enjoy an abundance of wildlife traffic through the property, and even have quite the zoo ourselves, with chickens and ducks, pigs and sometimes sheep to be found around the place. A couple of cats, some fish, all sorts... (dont forget to bring your little yellow bags please guys) We would love to see all the Witches, Wiccans, and various other Weirdos out there come on down, and we encourage you to book in for a spell. (pun intended) You'll fit right in. 🧙‍♀️ We invite discreet devotees of herbs, mushrooms, and all things magical to visit for a while, you will absolutely love it here, with privacy you just cannot get at the park 🤙 So beautiful people, come and find yourself, or maybe lose yourself, down by the river in Dwellingup, forget Camp Granada, (yes, we're that old...) forest getaways dont get much better than this one. So, social drinkers, social smokers, and all deep thinkers are definitely welcome, and when you get here, we can either mingle and chat, or your time and space can be your very own, that's entirely up to you, BUT! We dont want 'The Party People' here. Sorry. We dont need you to act Amish, within reason you can drink smoke sing celebrate, have your tunes, whatever, but this is the wrong venue for running amok. Loud drunkenness, anti-social behaviour, and rude misconduct will lead to eviction without refund, and reporting to Hipcamp. Also, and sorry about this one too folks, but no ripping around out here on anything with an engine. No off-roading. No motor bikes, quads, buggies, or any other form of self-powered transport in the dirt. In-fact while you're here, any sort of hooning on the property will lead to eviction without refund and reporting to Hipcamp. However all you mad mud mashers out there, for those that do want to go somewhere and get tractionally challenged, you'll only be a short drive from the famous Captain Fawcett 4x4 track, (about 1/4 hour away), and we are sure that down there you can get all the off-roading you want to, right out of your system! Check it out online. And of course there's hundreds of bush tracks all around here. So folks, the idea of this campsite and indeed of the entire property, is that it's intended as a tranquil and quiet retreat for those that wish it to be so. This is how we want it too, and this atmosphere of a quiet getaway must be observed by all comers please. Thanks for understanding. A small advice for those bringing children, in fact for anyone that intends to swim in or be beside the water, this is a wild and unfenced river access area and all care should be taken in supervision. Please see the site rules. One more thing, feel free to contact us via Hipcamp if you're interested in staying here but for some reason fall outside of the site parameters listed on this add. You might have a late arriver that needs to bring a third vehicle, your bus might be 1/2 a metre longer than the sites drop box allows for, or maybe you dont own a telly and have 7 kids you need to bring? Whatever it is, dont sweat it. Get in touch and run it by us, we're pretty flexible and in most cases will be willing to accommodate your needs. And remember, this is camping by the river, not glamping by the pool! We hope to hear from you soon, and we know you're going to love your stay whatever your endeavour while you're here. Kind regards, your hosts, Shane n Deeg. ✌️ 🙏 🏳️‍🌈 ps; we have developed a small welcome pack that includes a little disclaimer about us and this place, some things that we think you might like to do while you're here, and some local attractions that we reckon are well worth a visit sometime during your stay. It's just a few pdf's, and we'll forward them to your email as soon as your booking is finalized, or if you'd prefer we can print them out and supply hard copies. We hope they help you to plan your perfect stay here with us by the Murray. pss: there is a second site available here if you'd rather be further from the river. We dont bother to advertise it and it's a long way from the loo, so more suited to those that have their own dunny of some sort. (No short drops here please guys💩 yuk) The 2nd site is near a natural soak at the top of a dam and boasts a delightful looking and beautifully aromatic spread of native mint. You and yours will always be the only group here, this site is just an alternate place for you to set up camp if you want to. If you are interested in this site, reach out to us through Hipcamp and we'll tell you all about it, or you can ask when you get here and we'll have a look together. ✌️ Peace out, seeya soon, SnD

Harmony Retreat

5 sites · RVs, Tents25 acres · Meelon, WA
STRICLY NO FIRES DUE TO LOCAL FIRES IN THE AREA AT PRESENT, WITH HOMES DESTROYED AND LIVES THREATEDNED. THERE IS A TOTAL FIRE BAN IN THE SHIRE OF MURAY, THEREFORE NO OPEN COOKING FLAMES ARE PERMITTED (EXCEPT INSIDE CARAVANS). IF WE FIND THAT THIS RULE IS IGNORED, YOU WILL BE REPORTED TO THE POLICE AND ASKED TO LEAVE. IT HAS BEEN A LONG HOT SUMMER. THE AREA IS VERY DRY AND HIGHLY FLAMABLE. Harmony Retreat is situated on 25 acres at the foothills of the scarp just 10-15 minutes from Pinjarra and Dwellingup, 7 minutes from the southwest highway, and 3 minutes from Pinjarra-Williams Road. It's an easily accessible and picturesque private property with approximately 7 acres of forest, flushing toilets, hot outdoor showers, a winter creek, a swimmable spring-fed dam, and an abundance of bird and wildlife, nestled between cattle farms in the heart of the Peel region. There are friendly free-ranging chickens, a mischievous mini pig named Peppa (who loves pats), sheep, and family dogs on site. The owners Michelle, Troy, and Carolyne live and work onsite (this is a working farm). The camping area is easily accessed by most vehicles. There are hot water outdoor showers and toilets available to use. The dam on the property is currently unfenced and has steep sides when the water line is low, therefore this site is not recommended for those with small children (I don't think our nervous systems could handle the worry either) and older children will need to be supervised. Friendly pets are welcome, however, must be kept on a leash at all times due to livestock in neighbouring paddocks. There are no cooking facilities available for guests at present (this could change in the next couple of months as Troy is notorious for making stuff happen lol... so when it does we'll update the information). Therefore you will need to be completely self-sufficient including washing up bucket, cooker, kettle, esky, etc, and also bringing your own drinking water as the water from the taps comes from our spring-fed dam. We do ask that you follow local fire regulations with no outdoor open flames during fire season/complete fire bans. All rubbish and waste needs to be taken with you. However, Peppa the Pig will always appreciate your veggie scraps. Fires are permitted in designated fire pits during fire season. Wood is available for purchase on-site from April/May to October/November. Collecting firewood from the property or forest is not permitted. We also host various events such as drumming circles, retreats, and festivals throughout the year, as well as offering holistic healing sessions, private sound journey sessions and have a little shop selling journals, oracle cards, giftware, diaries, cacao, and handmade items which can be opened upon request. You can find details and learn a little more about what we do at hwcommunity.org
