Our 43-hectare property is on the edge of the Darling Scarp behind the historical Fairbridge Village. Only 1 hour south of Perth, so it is close enough for a quick weekend getaway but far enough to enjoy the silence of the bush.
There are elevated campsites with views west towards Mandurah and the Peel Estuary, northwest views toward Perth City, and three dams on the property.
Guests must be fully self-contained, as no toilets or showers are available. Just amazing views :)
Some locations are suitable for tents only, and some for caravans only. 4WD/AWDs are recommended as most sites are not easily accessible with a 2WD vehicle, especially during winter.
Dog friendly. Campfires are permitted in designated areas with the host's approval (depending on fire restrictions).
We are closed over the summer period due to increased fire risk.

Sandalwood Downs Toodyay operates as a farm stay and has been in high demand for several years now. After years of traveller's requesting caravan and tents sites, Marc and Jane are excited to announce as of March 2024 we now offering 11 caravan/camping/tent sites.
With only 11 unpowered sites spread out over 100 acres, you are guaranteed privacy for you and your family and friends.
3 clean instant portable toilets.
A refreshing cold bush shower is available on site.
The farm also features a fantastic communal area for fellow traveller's to meet, chat, have a few drinks, sit by the amazing fire pit (during winter months), have a BBQ.
The farm features many beautiful hand raised farm animals such as, camels, cows, miniature goats, donkeys, alpacas, lambs, deer, a pig, emus, ducks, turkeys, guinea fowls, geese, rabbits, chooks and peacocks.
Spend some time strolling the stunning walk trails and taking in the amazing views on the property,

RULES AND GUILDELINES.
While staying at Sandalwood Downs we would like all visitors to understand and accept the guidelines and rules, which are in place for everybody’s happiness, comfort and safety.
YOUR FAMILIES SAFELY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US:
- No bikes sorry. As we are a farm we do not have bike trails or paths. The paddocks are uneven terrain with incline and decline and are not safe for riding.
- No yelling or squealing in the communal / play ground area. This area is for everybody's enjoyment. If your children are yelling and squealing you will all be asked to leave the communal area.
- Please supervise your children at ALL times, this is for their safety. Children are not allowed to roam free around the farm without adults. Please ensure your children do not yell, squeal or run whilst around the animals.
-Children must be supervised in the communal playground area, The playground is closed for use at 6.pm.
- No lighting of campfires. Local Shire and DEFES have very strong rules regarding this, and if lighting of a fire occurs people will be prosecuted by DEFES and the local Shire up to $36000.00 or 3 years imprisonment,
-Fabulous communal fire pit open during winter months. No individual site camp fires due to safety of our property, animals and guests.
-If you smoke please place your butts in a sealed fire proof container. Please do not leave them on the ground as it is a fire risk and our animals may eat them causing health issues.
-No dogs permitted on the property due to our animals roaming free.
-You must be totally self contained, own power and water, (3 clean portable toilet and refreshing cold bush shower are available for use in the communal area).
-Please take away all rubbish.
-No big party groups.
-Quiet time from 7.30pm please. Please consider other guests and our neighbours.
-Check out of campsite by 11 am please.
-If a gate is closed, please close it behind you as will find it very hard to catch an animal that has escaped.
- Please do not enter animal enclosures/ paddocks without Jane or Marc.
-As we are a farm and you will be in our farm animals home, we ask you to please be kind and friendly towards all of our animals.
-You approach all animals at your own risk
-Please do not feed the animals any food that has not been given to you by Jane and Marc.
-Please drive very slowly through paddocks 10km per hour as animals roam freely.
-You will be handed a rules and guidelines policy when you arrive which includes an emergency and evacuation plan. Make sure you read and make yourself very aware of the guidelines, as your safety is very important to us.
-Arrival during day light hours is a must please arrival by 6pm, for yours and our animals safety. The front gate will be locked at 6pm for security reasons and will not unlocked till morning.

Redgum Hill
Nestled in amongst the red gums on an elevated position near the edge of the property, you will be camping next to the old hay shed. The birdlife here is amazing, with red tailed cockatoos and honeyeaters amongst others frequently visiting.
Please take care whilst exploring around this area, there are some deep rabbit warrens around the hay shed, which can be hidden in the grass in winter.
Valley Vista
Valley Vista is a private and secluded haven, on an elevated spot backed onto state forest looking down over the valley, with arguably the best views of the farm.
Creek Junction
Creek Junction is a peaceful area by the creek line nestled in amongst the trees, where the gully running down the hill meets the creek. One of our three dams is hidden in amongst the tea tree bushes nearby. You can see the house from this campsite, but it is far enough away that privacy is not an issue.
Please be aware, all of our dams are seasonal and will be very low in the summer months. We also recommend that you do not swim in them.
Hidden Corner
Hidden Corner is situated at the back corner of the property. It is the most isolated of our five campsites with views of the open paddock and across the valley in front of you and state forest behind.
Shed Pad
Shed Pad is our only powered site (15 amp) situated next to the main shed with an optional private bathroom. It has a patio area with a table and 4 chairs (an extra 2 can be provided if required). WIFI is also available for an additional fee. It is an intimate site, perfect for one large caravan or two small caravans and a couple of swags/tents.
It overlooks neighbouring paddocks and state forest. it is at the entrance to the property next to the main shed and in close proximity to the house.

Travel the old drover's track [now a scenic road - Parry Creek Road] to Hairy Dog's Fishing Camp and Lazy Dog campsite, located on the banks of the Ord River, home to the famous sportfish - barramundi. Tropical wildlife, lots of birdlife and crocodiles coexist here and you have river views, access to boat ramps, local attractions including a bird sanctuary. Set above highwater mark, the campsite sits safely on the riverbank with views of the historical landmark on the Bend of the Ord, House Roof Hill. Birdlife twitters about all day (and some through the night), while agile wallabies hop on by. Trees for shade and water for cooking/washing make for a comfortable campsite. A shared and well-maintained ablution block contains 2 showers and 2 flush toilets for all to use. You can enjoy an open fire at our large fire-pit. If you have your own boat, it can be launched and moored from the camp's boat ramp. No kayaks, canoes or floating-type watercraft are able to be used in this section of the river due to the large crocodiles that live here. A plunge pool is available for a 'cool off'. Our campgrounds are a good one hour drive from Kununurra or Wyndham and about 1.5 hours to the Gibb River Road. Be sure your vehicle is set for dirt road with good tyres including spares and water for yourself. This is non mobile phone country so take care and travel to conditions. Our weekend at Bushcamp was again fabulous. It was our second time there and again we loved it. Easy check-in and check-out. We friendly and helpful hosts. Spacious campsites so you don’t get bothered by your neighbours.
Campfires and great friends and we will definitely be back. In fact we have booked again for 3 weeks time 👍👍

We absolutely loved our stay here. The peace was astounding. The view was breathtaking. An abundance of bird life. We were lucky to have been here on our own and this suited us very well for some peace and quiet. Such lovely hosts and the fact there is power and a beautiful bathroom to use is an absolute plus. We will definitely visit again.

Probably one of the best Hip Camps we have stayed at yet. You wouldn't know you were just out of the CBD area.
The natural surroundings was awesome, the open fire pit was a bonus.

the cabins are super clean well decked out and comfortable! plenty of communal bbqs and amenities.

A great outlook over the Avon Valley farmlands and perr re fact spit to watch the sunset or hot air balloons pass over.
Plenty of space to park and walk around the farm land. Thoroughly enjoyable and peaceful getaway.

We took our caravan on its first trip & stayed at site Jacaranda 2. It was perfect, wide open space, plenty of room if family or friends wanted to join us another time. Loved the few other sites also, well spread out & more private if you wanted it to be & the views were amazing. Fire pits to enjoy on each site make the camping, can’t beat it. Sarah & Robert were very friendly, made you feel welcome. Recently graded roads were added bonus, thanks Robert. We will definitely be back.

Definitely be back Robert and Sarah info and directions were great met us at the check in shop had firewood ready to go very easy to navigate.
Lovely secluded spot to zone out from all the hustle and bustle, definitely need 4wd if towing a caravan as track getting in and out is not for road vans.
Great spot for sunset pics and good fire pit also the opportunity to star gaze was unbelievable.
