We are opening up our farm to share with like minded souls who share the same passions as us (our community). Over the years we have started to learn about the secret spots on our property. The ones which are secluded, capture beautiful pieces of light at certain times of the day, where the black cockatoos love to rest on the branches of the gum trees, the areas where weeping peppermints create a haven and the frequencies and syncronities of the frogs elevate at certain times of the year and times of the day are so loud that you cant hear yourself think. As a result we have a number of beautiful secluded spots on our property we would love to share. As we are small and have no facilities and we can only accept a small number who are fully self contained. (Please see NOTES below) Our region 'Margaret River' is famous for WINE but there are so many other things that make this place special. A wild but beautiful coastline uninhibited by people, karri forest, caves, mountain bike trails and a 120km coastal walk. Closer to the farm you can enjoy a short walk to a beautiful winery called SI Vintners, drive to The Berry Farm or the quirky town of Witchcliffe. This camping area is a couple of km's (walking distance) to state forest with The Munda bindi bike trail and Bibbulmun walking track.Campfires permitted within local regulations - not over summer.Pets welcome but please ask prior to booking as we have livestock. Must be kept on a lead when approved by host. There are no amenities here, campers must be self contained and leave no trace. f your looking for a real rural experience with beautiful forest to wake up in this is the place. Close enough to Donnybrook if you need it but hidden away as well. Donnybrook is a town situated between Boyanup and Kirup on the South Western Highway, 210 kilometres south of Perth.

68-acre peaceful retreat nestled within State Forest, a short drive from Donnybrook. We are one of only two properties in this small, isolated pocket. We have five sites available for self-contained campers. We do not offer any facilities. Self-contained campers/vans only, you MUST bring everything with you including a toilet. Stay here and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of your surroundings over a glass of wine from one of the local wineries or head out and explore the beautiful Geographe Wine Region. Redgum Hill Nestled in amongst the red gums on an elevated position near the edge of the property, you will be camping next to the old hay shed. The birdlife here is amazing, with red tailed cockatoos and honeyeaters amongst others frequently visiting. Please take care whilst exploring around this area, there are some deep rabbit warrens around the hay shed, which can be hidden in the grass in winter. Valley Vista Valley Vista is a private and secluded haven, on an elevated spot backed onto state forest looking down over the valley, with arguably the best views of the farm. Creek Junction Creek Junction is a peaceful area by the creek line nestled in amongst the trees, where the gully running down the hill meets the creek. One of our three dams is hidden in amongst the tea tree bushes nearby. You can see the house from this campsite, but it is far enough away that privacy is not an issue. Please be aware, all of our dams are seasonal and will be very low in the summer months. We also recommend that you do not swim in them. Hidden Corner Hidden Corner is situated at the back corner of the property. It is the most isolated of the three campsites with views of the open paddock and across the valley in front of you and state forest behind. Shed Pad (No longer has bathroom facilities) Shed Pad is our only powered site (15 amp) situated next to the main shed. It has a patio area with a table and 4 chairs (an extra 2 can be provided if required). WIFI is also available for an additional fee. It is an intimate site, perfect for one large caravan or two small caravans and a couple of swags/tents. It overlooks neighbouring paddocks and state forest. it is at the entrance to the property next to the main shed and in close proximity to the house.

Here’s a refined, polished version of your updated review, keeping your voice and enthusiasm: ⸻ A beautiful spot! The owners were incredibly friendly and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The property is close to the dam. The weather was a bit too chilly for swimming, but that didn’t stop our furry friend from jumping in and having an absolute ball! There’s also a paddleboard and a rope swing available for use. Our furry friend loved having plenty of open space to explore. The National Forest is nearby, so it’s best to keep dogs on a lead in that area due to baiting — but there are no baits on Shukuru Farm itself. Being a farm, there were a few flies, but nothing a fly net couldn’t fix. The wind was strong during our stay, so most of them were blown away anyway. The fire pits were a lovely bonus, and the starry skies at night were absolutely stunning. Such a relaxing, peaceful stay — I would definitely recommend staying here!

Weekend Trip to Amber Ridge Estate

My wife and I loved our weekend at the Amber Ridge Estate, staying at the Valley Vista ground. Was very secluded, private, quiet, and relaxing. Nestled a the top of the grounds, at the back, we didn't see anyone all weekend once we went through the gate. Could birdwatch, listen to the kangaroos in the state forest, and play with our dog in the field. Weather was wet, windy, sunny - all 4 seasons in one day, but that is Donnybrook and the south-west. Mick greeted us as we entered and gave us a folder of things to do in the area, which was very much appreciated. Great little spot to get away for some off grid.

Beautiful property just outside of Witchcliffe to explore the area. We spent 5 nights here, most of the time it was just us! If the weather was a bit nicer may have swam in the dam. A very cute little troop of ducklings in the dam too.

We enjoyed our stay at Shukuru’s farm! There was only one other site in view which was only occupied on the second night of our stay so it was quite peaceful having the place to ourselves for the first night! A few trees between the two sites would be great to make the sites completely private as this is something I look for when choosing a hipcamp. Communication from the host was great! The fire pit was an awesome addition & I can see the dam would be lots of fun once it gets a bit warmer!!

Great communication by the hosts by Kerry before we arrived. We camped on Isla in the Sun and had amazing dam views and had plenty of sun for our solar. Theres no toilets, no power, no wifi, so make sure youre self sufficient but thats what makes the camping that much better getting back to nature.

When to go

Temperatures can be very hot throughout summer, especially in January the thermometer can soar to above 30 degrees celsius between December and March. June and July are cooler. Spring, Autumn and Winter and top times to visit Margaret River and surrounds. Whale watching season runs from around June to early December. If you’re lucky, you’ll spot Humpback, Southern Right, Minke and Blue Whales.

The remote parks operated by the Parks & Wildlife Service have no power, nor running water or wifi and mobile phone coverage.
If driving, watch out for kangaroos, especially at dawn and dusk.
Busselton, Dunsborough and Margaret River are good places to stock up before heading south.
Whale watching trips are offered from Busselton, Dunsborough and Margaret River.
Busselton has a good fishing/camping gear shop.
Not all parks, even those in town, offer wifi.
