You may spot lots of birds and wildlife, or enjoy the beautiful view from the road. Please note: this is a spot for people such as hikers who appreciate nature and understand the concept of ‘leave no trace’. It’s not for parties or big groups. There are limited facilities (there is a basic composting toilet to use on site, but it’s not suitable as a caravan dump point) so you need to be totally self-sufficient and take all your waste and rubbish with you. BYO water.We are happy to accommodate up to 8 ppl, but please take everything with you, and leave our beautiful wilderness spot exactly as you left it, don't destroy the native vegetation and don't feed the wildlife. Fires only in the fire-pit please and must be totally extinguished (with water, so bring extra) before you leave, and not on fire ban days. Clear Springs is a very special spot, offering sweeping views over rolling hills, and across to the ocean. King Island lighthouse is visible on clear nights, and there are koalas and wallabies in abundance. Whilst we require you to BYO toilet, we do have hot shower, woodfired hot-tub, power, water and phone reception. The site is all-weather access, and is just a 7-minutes drive to the Apollo Bay township.
Once you catch your breath after initially taking in the sweeping, majestic ocean views, you can find a spot to pitch your tent or park your van. You drive in through a locked farm gate into the fenced camp area. There is not an abundance of flat area, so may not suit if you need large level space.
We don't accept multiple bookings, so the space is all yours. You can choose from a few different spots with near-level ground (choose grass or gravel). The site is open to the amazing ocean views to the south yet the area is nestled among mature trees to give privacy and shelter. There are very few houses dotted around the area and not a single busy road within earshot.
There is 240v mains power (BYO lead and plug into switchboard). And a tank with spring water (natural and untreated, we've been drinking it for years) and a pressure pump (BYO hoses as needed). There is an outdoor gas-heated shower. We also have a woodfired hot tub available for guests, BYO firewood.
Our listing is intended for people looking for a private, tranquil and well-serviced camping area with several bonuses such as power, water, telstra reception, and a hot tub (BYO firewood). Great camp! So lovely having the shower, bath and hot tub. Lovely even on a rainy weekend. Fiona was incredibly responsive to messages and very helpful. Stunning view out to the ocean. Trampoline is a plus!! Bit muddy due to the rain, lucky we had gum boots!

I wouldn't write this review if I was living in Australia as I would want to keep this gem to myself; as we're heading back to the UK here goes...
We were in a 7.2m Maui Ultima Mercedes Sprinter LWB 2 berth which got up Wild Dog and Busty Road (both tarmac roads) and onto and off this site without difficulty.
The plot is designed for a single group/family and we had the whole site to ourselves. It's a field nestled into rolling hills with an absolutely stunning vista of valleys overlooking the ocean at Apollo Bay (which has a well stocked IGA)
There is a deck with bathtub and shower and hot running water (make sure you open the gas bottles to get this to work automatically and close them when you leave) We didn't fill up the hot tub (which runs on firewood you must bring yourselves)
The electric hookup requires a 30 m extension lead (we used Fiona's spare lead to piggyback to our lead and it reached us. Fiona responds immediately and was a great host btw)
We did try the trampoline which is mounted level to the ground but mostly for sunbathing!
There is a large level pitch carved into the gentle slope of this beautiful hillside field/plot just below the decking where we parked up. Two koalas were climbing eating & sleeping in the eucalyptus trees by the decking and the sheep were brave enough to venture up the hill but took off when they saw us.
We loved the site and even the day of 'Cornish mizzle' couldn't dampen our spirits.

We loved our stay at Fiona’s land! The view of the ocean and rolling hills was incredible. The hot outdoor shower was soo nice and really appreciated after a hike in the nearby Otways national park. There is an abundance of birdlife as well so don’t forget to take your binoculars 🙂

The spot was absolutely stunning views over the hills and the ocean. It happened to be quite cool and windy weather when we stayed but we felt really sheltered by the surrounding trees. The hot tub was an absolute bonus....it heated up so well and stayed hot for quite some time. Would love to come back.

Stayed at Lloyd’s place and had an awesome time. The campsite was great, private, and nicely secluded, so it stayed quiet the whole trip. The instructions were clear which made finding the spot simple, and he was super helpful throughout the whole process. Really appreciated how easy he made everything and would happily stay again.

I enjoyed my stay at Little River camp. Nothing better than waking up hearing the birds, sheeps and the roos. The place is only 30-40 mins away from the western suburbs but it’s very large, quiet and away from all the city life. Plenty of spots to choose from and the view of the farm, hills and its wildlife are magnificent. Hosts are very helpful and responsive. Would definitely be back here and recommend 👍🏼

Where to go
Jan Juc
Set between Torquay and Bells Beach (of Rip Curl Pro surfing championship fame), Jan Juc fronts onto a fabulous surf beach, though surf and conditions are rougher here. From Jan Juc, you can drive to Bells Beach without reconnecting with the Great Ocean Road and also hit nearby Anglesea and Lorne. Don’t miss the area’s spectacular limestone cliffs and rock formations.
Bellarine Peninsula
This is a perfect place to spend the day before you head south from Torquay, along the Great Ocean Road. Beach walks, historic lighthouses, wineries, and gourmet eateries are in many of the villages on the circuit: Barwon Heads, Ocean Grove, Point Lonsdale. and Queenscliff.
When to go
Given Torquay’s large permanent population, the township is well serviced, and you can visit at any time of year. The Bells Beach surf championship takes place around Easter and brings in big crowds, so it’s best to reserve ahead then and in the summer months. Spring and February are great times to visit, as this is when temperatures start to warm.
Know before you go
- It can get windy around Torquay—bring warm weather gear, even in summer.
- Torquay is the perfect base to stock up on groceries, especially before trips along the Great Ocean Road. (Prices tend to get higher the further you go along the route.)
