Weekend Trip to Hidden Valley

Lovely secluded bush camp. Flushing toilet, camp kitchen and shack. We paid extra for wood and a bonfire which was fantastic. Unfortunately it rained quite heavily whilst we were there so we didn't get to explore the bush as much as we would have liked to, but very grateful that there was a solid shelter with a wood heater inside. Emily and Steven were also very lovely, they met us and showed us around the camp. Thanks for a great stay.

We are a family of 7 with 3 tents. The site where we set up the tents is adjacent to the basketball court and is spacious enough for all of our tents. The shades under the trees is a plus. Good for the kitchen to have a long table to fit bigger group of people like ours. We have booked 2 nights for campfire but unfortunately there was a fire ban on the 2nd night. The host has been kind enough to let us use the pool instead, the kids had great fun! Thanks Marc and Sharon!

This was a great spot to camp with the kids. Marc was an excellent host and the kid loved hanging out with Murray (the little dog) and seeing the Geese and Chooks. Had lunch at the local brewery and and swim/paddle at Barwon Heads.

Cressy Runch

Cressy is a rural town 35 km north of Colac in western Victoria. It is on the Hamilton Highway and the railway line to Ararat. The settlement of Cressy came about by a Frenchman, Jean d'Auvergnay, settling at the nearby Woady Yaloak River in 1840. He apparently moved there from Camperdown, to a place which he thought was less menaced by Aborigines. He built 'Frenchman's Inn' on the site of the future Cressy, which was named after his birthplace in France, Crecy. Lake Rosine, about 6 km westwards, is named after his wife. The inn was near the junction of tracks from Port Phillip to Portland and Port Fairy. A bridge was built over Woady Yaloak River in 1849. The township of Cressy was surveyed in 1851, and Duverney Street commemorates the founder's name. d'Auvergnay acquired a pastoral run, and most of the country around Cressy was occupied by similar properties until 1905. There was a Presbyterian church (1862), a school (1866) and the inn. In 1903 Cressy was described in the Australian handbook: Cressy in recent times Edit Cressy was once a bustling town with several shops, garages, churches and a thriving railway station. Cressy still boasts many interesting old buildings, although many were destroyed in the fires of 1977 which also killed three people.[4] There are two beautiful old churches, and the Cressy Historical Society is now housed in the Presbyterian Church, opposite the old Post Office and general store. The church was built in 1862 and is open for research on the first Sunday of every month. The Cressy police station closed in 2010. The old post office and telephone exchange was built in 1924 at a cost of £5,000. After it was closed it was turned into a family home. It opened as a cafe and mixed business which operated until 2014. The public restrooms back onto a picnic spotj with a new children's playground. The town football team went into recess in 1998 after the Western Plains FL merged with the Lexton FL.

We have a fragile ecosystem here, so we ask not to bring in wood and to purchase it off the farm. Olive oil from 2024 is available, and table olives harvested this year are in brine, ready to jar up. The table olives we have are Kalamata, Spanish Queens, and Jumbo Kalamata.
