There's plenty to see and do in the area from the amazing Wilson's Prom Nat. Park (40 mins), to country town shopping (2 mins), waterfalls and more. We are only a 10min walk or 3min bike ride from the Great Southern Rail Trail which is a multi-use, gentle trail suitable for all abilities and fitness levels, covering 14 towns and 130klm it runs from Nyora to Yarrum with panoramic views of lush farmland, rainforest and pristine seascapes. The Great Southern Rail Trail links several unique towns. Just across the road you'll find Stony Creek Go Karts which is at 800 metres long, the longest Hire Kart track in Victoria and one of the few tracks that have racing karts and hire out karts as well as provide facilities to bring your own. Ten minutes drive towards Dumbalk South takes you to Blue Tree Honey Farm, a great little tourist attraction where you can taste and buy honey from local areas, sample a beautiful cream tea/coffee, have lunch in the cafe or sit outside and admire the scenic countryside. Just down the road towards Foster on your right you will find a fabulous panoramic lookout platform with views of Wilson's Promontory National Park (40 min) comprised of 125,000 acres of rainforests, extremely beautiful beaches, rugged granite mountains and abundant wildlife. Trails from the Tidal River settlement lead to Squeaky Beach, with its white quartz squeaky sand. Nearby, Mt. Other attractions in the area are Gumbuya World, Nangara Reserve, Noojee and Neerim South, PLUS of course the wineries. The Tarago River backs onto our small yet spacious, open yet shaded space. The river is shallow for paddling, as well as ‘swimmable’ (at your own risk), a lovely spot to cool off on our warm summer days, or a mesmerising place to sit, watch, read, contemplate, draw or write. Some large old Mountain Ash remain along the river bank, with lots of new plantings. It is not uncommon to see an echidna, a variety of stunning birdlife, and on dusk, maybe a wombat family. We also host a family of platypus if you are very quiet. Our river block can hold up to 4 caravans (under 10 metres) and a couple of tents in one group (one booking). In addition, the upper adjoining block can accommodate 2 caravans (enquire for this option). This is a single group occupancy site so you can enjoy the privacy of your group. If you wish to hook into our powered site, please add $10 per night, per van. All campers will also have access to our Casa Cucina gorgeous eclectic, quirky community space to sit in out of the weather. Please note: This is not an accommodation space. The cabins are converted shipping containers. Cabin 1 has a king bed, Cabin 2 has 2 double beds (bunk style) and a yurt (1 - 4 people). Shared facilities. Please do note the yurt does not have direct electricity and supplied are portable flood lights to hang in trees and inside. Charging station in the toilet shed or kitchen. The yurt is approx 150 meters from the cabins and very private. It has one super comfortable king and two single matresses. It's warm and so peaceful you will never want to leave. We had a wonderful time at Susan's campsite. The location is stunning and the campsite is very well equipped with an outdoor kitchen area, a fire pit, an outdoor table and benches and a hut with a table and chairs. The hut was perfect for playing cards while it was raining. Also the campsite is very private. We fell in love with the landscape: green rolling hills, gorgeous-looking cows, and pristine rainforest. Thank you Susan for sharing your beautiful property. And being able to bring our dog was a big +. We will be back. The toolshed at Noojie is a great spot to have dinner. ❤️🐮🦆

The campsites are scattered across lovely gently rolling fields and all have a fire pit and a view (either down the valley or across the dam). We had Site 2 looking over the dam which was great and must be stunning in summer and if the dam is full. Access is easy and well sign posted.

A beautiful and peaceful spot. Susan was a fantastic host, thoughtful, kind and responsive. I was even gifted some homemade chilli jam and eggs. I spent 2 nights here just cooking on the fire, watching the wildlife by the pond including a wide variety of bird life and a fox. The set up has everything you need- camp toilet, mud kitchen, table and chairs and even a hut to have shelter in the rain. Plenty of fallen kindling to be collected if needed. Will return to explore some of the walking tracks. So nice to be able to have a solo getaway and not have to share the campsite with anyone, but feel totally safe. Just a short drive into town. Highly recommend.

Laura and Troy have gone to great lengths to provide safe comfortable sites for people to enjoy. The location is ideal for many of the local towns as well as a visit to Wilson’s Prom. There is firewood and eggs available on site and Laura and Troy make an effort to introduce themselves, their fur babies and Billy. The Farm at JU Buffalo is peaceful and the sites are not directly near the road, making the sound of the birds and local wildlife the only noise you will hear. We will definitely be back

First awake at camp is a special time. Day breaks with the chorus of waterhen, Wonga Pigeon and kookaburra, backed by pobblebonk and the odd snuffling of the cows. Alone? Not with this crowd 🤩.

Chris's place by the river is beautiful. The sound of the river and the birds was breathtaking. The grounds were extremely neat and tidy and the little hut was very quirky and interesting. What a great place! So clean, plenty of space for the 9 of us and privacy between camp-sites. The hut is perfect for extra room if needed to prepare food, has a large picnic table to sit & eat or shelter from the rain. With the forest across the road and Port Welshpool a quick bike or car ride away, this camp really has everything. From riding along tracks to walking the beach or long pier, very relaxing for a short or long stay. Hosts are easy to communicate with and give great directions...camp-site is extremely easy to get to with a caravan or trailer. Thanks so much Steff & Dylan, we all appreciated the stay in your little slice of heaven 🤗

A quiet campsite on the edge of a forest. A delightful place to stay. We stayed two nights midweek and only had two cars pass the whole time. Delightful view down the valley towards the Prom from View site 1. Highly recommend. The campfire pit was put to good use on the cool evenings.

Excellent hosts and site 1 was an excellent. Very easy to drive in and reverse into. The site was very spacious, level and with privacy. A must is to visit Gurneys' Cidery nearby, it was recommended by Bill. It had great pizza, drinks and beautiful gardens with a great view. Definitely be back to stay again

Where to go

Wilsons Promontory National Park

East of Inverloch, the wild beaches and windswept sea cliffs of Wilsons Promontory National Park afford plenty of ways to escape the crowds. Hike to the viewpoints of Mount Oberon and Mount Bishop, explore the Big Drift sand dunes, or pitch a tent in the wilderness. There’s also a camping area with BBQs, an amenities block, and a camp kitchen at Tidal River.

South Gippsland

The 12-km coastal drive from Inverloch to Cape Paterson serves up some of South Gippsland’s most dramatic ocean views, hugging the sea cliffs of the Bunurong Marine National Park. Hop out to admire natural wonders such as the Eagles Nest, Flat Rocks, and The Caves, and park your motorhome at a rural Hipcamp along the way. Further west, dive into Victoria’s coal mining history at Wonthaggi, go bird-watching around the Wonthaggi Wetlands Reserve, or hike the George Bass Coastal Walk from Kilcunda.

Phillip Island

Dangling off the southwestern tip of Gippsland, Phillip Island is best known for its colonies of Little Penguins and draws a steady stream of day-trippers from Melbourne. The best way to witness the sunset Penguin Parade is by staying the night, so snag a spot at one of the island’s holiday parks, Hipcamps, or glampsites. With extra time on the island, you can also stop at Seal Rocks, hike the Cape Woolamai Walk, and visit the Koala Conservation Centre.

When to go

It’s warm enough for swimming and water sports at Gippsland’s beaches from late spring through early autumn, but avoid the peak summer months (Dec-Jan) if you don’t like crowds. March is an ideal compromise and also sees the town host its annual Inverloch Jazz Festival. Winter weather can be wet and cold, although it rarely dips below freezing, and this is the time to spot migrating whales along the coast.
