Tarwin Lower EcoStudio is not far out of town and the Tarwin River (4 kms), for boating, paddling and fishing. Slightly further afield is Andersen Inlet (great fishing, paddling, paddle boarding, boating, and shallow waters for very young children), Venus Bay Surf beaches, and Walkerville South bay beach (with boat ramp). Waratah Bay and Wilsons Promontory less than an hour's drive away. And that's just the water sports.
The Great Southern Rail Trail is just up the road, at Koonwarra or Leongatha, and has a range of rides with varying degrees of challenge.
The Eco Studio itself is completely off grid, built from reclaimed and recycled materials, as part of our commitment to living lightly. There is an outdoor kitchen, and composting toilet, and our home garden (we live on the property too) is often abundant and the fresh organic produce is for sale for our visitors.

You can relax with 10km of sandy, child friendly swimming beach on beautiful Lake Wellington. Get back to nature with some native flora and fauna spotting. Abundant wildlife includes rare Sea Eagles, Wedge Tail Eagles, friendly Parrots, and Rosellas. Wombats, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Rabbits, and Echidnas are easily found and large bush possums are everywhere and are easily hand-fed and friendly. Groups of Hog Deer are seen occasionally as they are fairly timid.
We are located between Bairnsdale and Sale. The Park is set on 174 acres of peaceful bushland, including Banksia, Red Gum, White Gum, and ancient River Gum forest. The Park offers both powered and unpowered sites, a communal lounge, separate accommodation, modern toilet facilities, sheltered BBQs as well as a camp kitchen. The park also offers a swimming pool and tennis court.

Ancient river redgums run along the creek which provide for nice shady spots in summer. The creek relies on seasonal rainfall, and when running, is deep enough for swimming or paddling around in a kayak. When dry, the creek bed makes a fantastic walking track.
If you are looking for a unique family holiday, or you are an artist and want to do some songwriting or painting, or just need to get out of the rat race and chill out, then this could be just the place for you.
10 mins to Murtoa, 15 mins to the Dooen Hotel, 20 mins to Horsham, 30 mins to Warracknabeal, 40 mins to the Grampians or Mt Arapilies.
A perfect base to explore the renowned Silo Art Trail, Murtoa Stick Shed, local lakes and waterways, state and national parks, and many other regional attractions.
But if you are simply into nature or hiking, then just head north or south along the creek, and you will be able to walk for hours and take in the unique scenery.

With a large covered deck connected to the front of the tiny house, you don't have to go anywhere to witness Wedge-tailed Eagles, Black Cockatoos, King Parrots, Rosellas and Kookaburra to name a few. Or wombats scurrying into their warren in the embankment just below the tiny house. Or the wallabies that hang out in the front paddock. If you're a fit walker, you can hike up to the back of the property that borders an old pine plantation now full of regrowth where herds of deer call it home. At the right time of day, you're likely to see all kinds of water fowl in the damns around the property. And if you're lucky, our 3 alpaca will let you photograph them as they stare you down, but no cuddles for these guys -- they're there to keep the foxes away. Night time is magical. With no light pollution, it's a stargazers paradise and on a still evening you'll hear boobooks, possums and frogs. The popular tourist village of Yarragon is 16km down a winding unsealed road one way, while the larger town of Mirboo North is about the same distance going the other way. Mount Worth State Park is 13km from our property and Lyrebird Forest Walk Regional Park is 26km just outside Mirboo North. While there's a lot to do around these parts, my guess is you won't want to leave the property.

The property has two dams, it is well treed with large open parts and has a beautiful view to Mount Macedon. Kangaroos, possums and echidnas also live here.
You are welcome to walk the property and visit the farm animals during your stay (as long as you stay on the outside of paddocks/yards).

The Roseneath Caravan Park is located in the beautiful, scenic Gippsland area, on the sandy, South East shore of Lake Wellington. This family and pet friendly caravan park offers a real bush experience, being located in the tranquil bushlands of Meerileu.
Experience fabulous fishing, boating and swimming. Fishing is a lot of fun and good catches of Bream, Mullet, Flathead, and Carp can be had. Fishing on the lake is great from the shore or a boat. Hollands Landing boat ramp is only a short drive from the park.
You can relax with 10km of sandy, child friendly swimming beach on beautiful Lake Wellington. Enjoy the lake's clean, safe swimming conditions, which are ideal for yachting, canoeing, kayaking, jet skiing, and boating. Or take a long, lazy stroll along one of our many walking tracks or along the water's edge. You can also bring your pushbikes and enjoy one of the many bike tracks. The park is pet friendly and ponies and horses have a large paddock with clean water if you wish to bring them along and saddle up for some excellent trail riding.
Get back to nature with some native flora and fauna spotting. Abundant wildlife includes rare Sea Eagles, Wedge Tail Eagles, friendly Parrots, and Rosellas. Wombats, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Rabbits, and Echidnas are easily found and large bush possums are everywhere and are easily hand-fed and friendly. Groups of Hog Deer are seen occasionally as they are fairly timid.
We are located between Bairnsdale and Sale. The Park is set on 174 acres of peaceful bushland, including Banksia, Red Gum, White Gum, and ancient River Gum forest. The Park offers both powered and unpowered sites, a communal lounge, separate accommodation, modern toilet facilities, sheltered BBQs as well as a camp kitchen. The park also offers a swimming pool and tennis court.

Around the property there are many old historic farm buildings, including an original 'boundary riders' hut (circa 1870's).
The Yarriambiack Creek is the western boundary of the property, and is a haven for birds and wildlife such as kangaroos & wallabies. Ancient river redgums run along the creek which provide for nice shady spots in summer. The creek relies on seasonal rainfall, and when running, is deep enough for swimming or paddling around in a kayak. When dry, the creek bed makes a fantastic walking track.
If you are looking for a unique family holiday, or you are an artist and want to do some songwriting or painting, or just need to get out of the rat race and chill out, then this could be just the place for you.
10 mins to Murtoa, 15 mins to the Dooen Hotel, 20 mins to Horsham, 30 mins to Warracknabeal, 40 mins to the Grampians or Mt Arapilies.
A perfect base to explore the renowned Silo Art Trail, Murtoa Stick Shed, local lakes and waterways, state and national parks, and many other regional attractions.
But if you are simply into nature or hiking, then just head north or south along the creek, and you will be able to walk for hours and take in the unique scenery.

Tiny Castle is a custom built tiny house that overlooks farmland, bushland and the glorious Stzelecki Ranges including Mount Worth. With a large covered deck connected to the front of the tiny house, you don't have to go anywhere to witness Wedge-tailed Eagles, Black Cockatoos, King Parrots, Rosellas and Kookaburra to name a few. Or wombats scurrying into their warren in the embankment just below the tiny house. Or the wallabies that hang out in the front paddock. If you're a fit walker, you can hike up to the back of the property that borders an old pine plantation now full of regrowth where herds of deer call it home. At the right time of day, you're likely to see all kinds of water fowl in the damns around the property. And if you're lucky, our 3 alpaca will let you photograph them as they stare you down, but no cuddles for these guys -- they're there to keep the foxes away. Night time is magical. With no light pollution, it's a stargazers paradise and on a still evening you'll hear boobooks, possums and frogs. The popular tourist village of Yarragon is 16km down a winding unsealed road one way, while the larger town of Mirboo North is about the same distance going the other way. Mount Worth State Park is 13km from our property and Lyrebird Forest Walk Regional Park is 26km just outside Mirboo North. While there's a lot to do around these parts, my guess is you won't want to leave the property.

The property has two dams, it is well treed with large open parts and has a beautiful view to Mount Macedon. Kangaroos, possums and echidnas also live here.
You are welcome to walk the property and visit the farm animals during your stay (as long as you stay on the outside of paddocks/yards).

Little Sheoak is a fully self-contained tiny house designed for couples. The cosy loft bedroom, accessed via a built-in staircase, features high-quality 100% cotton percale linen and an electric blanket for winter comfort. The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas oven and stovetop, microwave, small fridge with freezer, coffee machine, and all essentials. The bathroom includes an eco-friendly Ogo dry composting toilet. Hardwood blackbutt timber floors run throughout.
Outside, guests can relax under the shade of a gazebo, unwind on the private deck, or enjoy a quiet evening by the fire pit (March–November), watching the flames and toasting marshmallows, all surrounded by trees and native birds. We have come home from a perfect and tranquil trip at Jo & Russell's beautiful EcoStudio. We are honestly lost for words for this oasis they have created. The photos don't do it justice and every step of the way you are met with kindness from these two exceptional people. This studio is filled with love and every part has a story. We loved every part of the studio, it is so well thought out for the people visiting and for the environmental footprint. Fun mix of salvaged materials and native plants! We enjoyed our stay. A few practical considerations:
1. lots of glass, so bring a sleep mask if you wake with light
2. fold out 2nd bed is soft and springy
3. lots of pets in the past and some old furniture, so bring allergy/asthma meds if you might need them
Had everything we needed, composting toilet smelled great, and gracious hosts!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay.
The tiny home is set on stunning landscape, surrounded by beautiful scenery. The views are incredible, and the sunsets were a real highlight.
The host was extremely friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The tiny home itself is very well equipped, with everything you need.
One of the highlights of the property is the walk through the property. It’s absolutely amazing, and I highly encourage everyone to take the time to explore it.

We had the most relaxing, enjoyable weekend tucked away in the cabin. Very private, warm and with the amenities you need: comfy bed, tidy bathroom, cooking supplies. We enjoyed both cool evenings and rain at night - which was pleasant thanks to the cosy wood burner - plus blue sky days which made for great exploring and spotting wildlife, also close to the inlet and Venus bay. We were welcomed with freshly harvested strawberries from Jo which was a delight!

Where to go
Great Ocean Road
The Great Ocean Road west of Melbourne is one of the world's great scenic road trips, but there’s much more to see and do than snapping a selfie at the Twelve Apostles rock stacks. Zipline above the rainforest in Great Otway National Park, climb lighthouses, watch whales, surf iconic Bells Beach, and pitch a tent on any one of several beachside camping areas. Road tripping doesn't get much better than this.
Gippsland and the Bays
Gippsland stretches east of Melbourne to the sea and north to the border with NSW. Most of the coastline is protected by a string of national parks with fantastic seaside camping spots and holiday parks—and camping at Wilsons Promontory (locals just call it the Prom) on the mainland’s southernmost tip is a must-do at least once. This is also where you’ll find Phillip Island, home to the famous nightly penguin parade.
The Victorian Alps
The High Country is the place to go for winter snow sports and summer mountain bike trails, plus bushwalking. If that sounds too energetic, it’s also home to the Great Alpine Road, one of Australia's best food and wine touring routes (and yes, the scenery is pretty good too).
The Grampians
In the state's west, the Grampians are another mountain playground with a network of bushwalking trails, from quick 2-hour walking tracks to 3-day hikes in the Grampians National Park. This is also where campers can find the highest concentration of Indigenous art in the state. Opt for bush camping sites in the national park or more luxurious campsites at Halls Gap or Dunkeld caravan parks.
Murray Riverlands
Australia's longest river, the mighty Murray forms most of the border with NSW to the north, and all along its length are great beachfront campsites from where you can go for a swim or paddle a kayak, catch a fish, or sit back and watch the world glide by. Elsewhere in the riverlands, ride a restored paddle steamer at Echuca, take a cruise through the largest river red gum forest in the world at Barmah, and dine out in the foodie hot spot of Mildura.
