Our campsites are on scenic, levelled areas overlooking the large dam and bushland, with grassed areas ideal for tents and camper-vans, and a portaloo a short walk away. The block is a natural timber and grassland block, with devils, quolls and wombats also residing here. We have one powered site available, and multiple unpowered sites.
There is a lovely walking track around the dams periphery. Feed fish from the edge, spot platypus frolicking about, and keep your eye out for Peacocks wandering the property too. Whilst you are welcome to bring your dog with you, please ensure they don't harass the wildlife.

The Big Paddock is ideally suited for smaller campervans, tents, swags, off-road caravans, and camper trailers. Here, you can set up anywhere within its bounds; pitching your tent among the trees or along the river is perfect for a truly immersive experience. An approximately 3-acre clearing is also available by the river.
For easier access directly from the road, The Little Paddock is an excellent choice. While suitable for smaller vehicles, it's also ideal for larger caravans. This area offers approximately 5 acres of clearing right beside the river. Both paddocks are conveniently located just before the bridge and provide ample open space for outdoor activities like frisbee or cricket.
Natural Surroundings & Activities:
Leven River Camping borders the Dial Range Nature Recreation Area and a Nature Conservation Reserve. Our sites are set on lush, green, fern-filled river flats within a sometimes misty forested valley, cradled below Mt Duncan and Mt Lorymer. The surrounding area boasts popular hiking and mountain biking trails.
The Leven River itself is a highlight, offering some of the best trout fishing in North West Tasmania. You'll also find perfect spots for kayaking, along with private river beaches where you can relax, paddle, swim, or enjoy a picnic.
Access to the property is via a very scenic 4km, well-maintained gravel road that winds downhill to the base of the valley.
Important Information

Rivers Edge is 24 acres of forest on the banks of the Leven River in Gunns Plains, Tasmania. We are in our own little valley surrounded by tall forests. Preston Creek flows all year through our property and meets the large Leven River where your campsite is situated. Perfect for trout fishing, platypus watching, bird watching or catching the sun setting through the trees on the river bend. There are even the endangered black fresh water crayfish.
The site is large enough for up to 5-6 caravans for large bookings, and we only take one booking at a time, so its exclusively yours.
We are only 20km to the nearest town, Ulverstone which as everything you need.
The road is close by the campsite with easy access to find the property. No toilet facilities at the site. Sat TV is good and limited mobile reception. Telstra works best we've found.
River access over a rocky, uneven embankment as it's a natural, untouched environment, just how we and the native animals like it.
Campfires ONLY PERMITTED when fire restrictions aren't in place. You absolutely must make sure your campfire is fully extinguished before you leave.
Please check "My Trips" (in your profile) for directions once confirmed. Look for the 'Rivers Edge' sign on the entrance gate, then you know youve got the right site and not the neigbours property (which is along side mine on the river)

I started living here permanently seven years ago, most of the property's out dwellings and the Cabin is built from recycled, reclaimed materials or been handed down.
I am fully off the grid and in the process of trying to become self-sufficient.
The water is pumped from a springfed dam and mostly gravity-ed.
It's a little like McDonald's Farm, an array of birds and animals.
There's an orchard, hothouse and a Raspberry patch which may be my favourite spot when they're fruiting.
It really is an amazing lifestyle, peaceful, relaxing and rewarding.

The block is a natural timber and grassland block, with devils, quolls and wombats also residing here. We have one powered site available, and multiple unpowered sites.
There is a lovely walking track around the dams periphery. Feed fish from the edge, spot platypus frolicking about, and keep your eye out for Peacocks wandering the property too. Whilst you are welcome to bring your dog with you, please ensure they don't harass the wildlife.

An approximately 3-acre clearing is also available by the river.
For easier access directly from the road, The Little Paddock is an excellent choice. While suitable for smaller vehicles, it's also ideal for larger caravans. This area offers approximately 5 acres of clearing right beside the river. Both paddocks are conveniently located just before the bridge and provide ample open space for outdoor activities like frisbee or cricket.
Natural Surroundings & Activities:
Leven River Camping borders the Dial Range Nature Recreation Area and a Nature Conservation Reserve. Our sites are set on lush, green, fern-filled river flats within a sometimes misty forested valley, cradled below Mt Duncan and Mt Lorymer. The surrounding area boasts popular hiking and mountain biking trails.
The Leven River itself is a highlight, offering some of the best trout fishing in North West Tasmania. You'll also find perfect spots for kayaking, along with private river beaches where you can relax, paddle, swim, or enjoy a picnic.
Access to the property is via a very scenic 4km, well-maintained gravel road that winds downhill to the base of the valley.
Important Information
No facilities are provided on-site. Guests must bring their own camping toilet (a dumping point is available in Knights Rd, West Ulverstone) and are responsible for all rubbish removal.

Rivers Edge is 24 acres of forest on the banks of the Leven River in Gunns Plains, Tasmania. We are in our own little valley surrounded by tall forests. Preston Creek flows all year through our property and meets the large Leven River where your campsite is situated. Perfect for trout fishing, platypus watching, bird watching or catching the sun setting through the trees on the river bend. There are even the endangered black fresh water crayfish.
The site is large enough for up to 5-6 caravans for large bookings, and we only take one booking at a time, so its exclusively yours.
We are only 20km to the nearest town, Ulverstone which as everything you need.
The road is close by the campsite with easy access to find the property. No toilet facilities at the site. Sat TV is good and limited mobile reception. Telstra works best we've found.
River access over a rocky, uneven embankment as it's a natural, untouched environment, just how we and the native animals like it.
Campfires ONLY PERMITTED when fire restrictions aren't in place. You absolutely must make sure your campfire is fully extinguished before you leave.
Please check "My Trips" (in your profile) for directions once confirmed. Look for the 'Rivers Edge' sign on the entrance gate, then you know youve got the right site and not the neigbours property (which is along side mine on the river)

Well in my opinion (and a few others) I am Living The Dream!
I started living here permanently seven years ago, most of the property's out dwellings and the Cabin is built from recycled, reclaimed materials or been handed down.
I am fully off the grid and in the process of trying to become self-sufficient.
The water is pumped from a springfed dam and mostly gravity-ed.
It's a little like McDonald's Farm, an array of birds and animals.
There's an orchard, hothouse and a Raspberry patch which may be my favourite spot when they're fruiting.
It really is an amazing lifestyle, peaceful, relaxing and rewarding.

Ladybug camping, hands down our MOST favourite place to camp. What Peter & Kim have done is second to none. An absolutely beautiful piece of paradise. Huge private sites with festoon lighting, waterfalls and swimming holes so perfect you forget that you are still so close to home and not a million miles away from everyday life. Wildlife, forest, ferns, and falls, peaceful, private, serene, there really is no perfect word to explain the natural beauty that is Ladybug Camping. There is only one downside.....going home. I would be happy to stay there forever. Thank you so much Peter and Kim for all your hard work, and for giving us the privilege of sharing your piece of Tasmanian paradise.

A wonderful hideaway oasis. Plenty of Birdlife and a constant sound of a running creek that radiates peace and tranquillity. Tim is a wonderful host with stories to share. Would love to come back again and leave busy mainland clutter behind.

This is a truly peaceful and private spot. The campsite is clean, tidy, and thoughtfully maintained, with excellent amenities. Peter and Kim are wonderful hosts, and the setting (surrounded by trees and water) makes it feel like a little sanctuary. The short walk to the waterfall was a highlight of our stay. We’ve booked to stay again!

Beautiful private area, we had our caravan and had plenty of room, Hosts Peter and Kim were great, very friendly and helpful. Nice shaded areas which was great as we had 27 degrees and our dog loved cooling down in the creek/river that ran around our site.
Would highly recommend and we will certainly be going back.

Great location for accessing cradle mountain, nice grassy spot for kids but if you are wanting more space book site one or the 4WD access one on the hill as the rest are very close together. Our awning nearly touched the van beside us!

The most beautiful camp grounds and its extremely evident how much love and care has gone into the property. Sites are very generous and private, toilet was clean and fresh and the cart for bringing belongings across the bridge was such an appreciated thought. Have already recommended to family and friends.

Our family of 4 absolutely loved our stay. We booked the 4wd private site and it perfect. Private and peaceful with beautiful views of rolling hills and the cows in the paddock.
We loved visiting the nearby lake, Tasmazia and the town of Sheffield. The owners were kind and responsive and Steve even took the time out to introduce our children to their goats. Such kind hosts. 100% recommend.

Ladybug campground is an absolute dream. We stayed at site 6, and other than the beautiful owners, we saw (or heard) no other campers even though they were fully booked. We played in the river, walked to one of the waterfalls, panned for gold, had campfires and made very special memories, ones we will cherish forever. Ladybug is a special place and one we can't wait to return to.

The hosts, Jamie and Renee went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed.
Close to gorgeous beaches, Rocky Cape National Park and good fishing spots.
