Our property runs beef and cultivates crops alongside the Ringarooma river, North East Tasmania. We often host mountain bike riders here to access the world-class trails at Derby. Nearby are many marked mountain trails, and numerous falls. Skiing is 1hr away in the winter.
Our camping site is alongside cattle grazing paddocks and the Ringarooma river, and we offer one site only, to one group at a time, so it's yours exclusively. A toilet is available nearby.
A gravel track descends to the river with a short steep bank preceding the flats. When the track reaches the river the camping site is just through the gate on the right. One gate and two wire gates may require opening on the way and these gates need to be closed again to prevent cattle from wandering. Electrical fencing is in use and alive - please be careful!
Wood for your campfire is available to purchase, $15. I can supply fresh sourdough loaves $6 also fresh eggs $3perhalf doz, and fresh cows milk most of the year $5/2L. Fly fish for trout and cook over the coals for a treat.
Welcome to bring your dog along, but please keep them under control.

There are wonderful fishing, swimming and kayaking options at Merseylea and Kimberley less than 10 minutes’ drive away.
You'll find many opportunities for hiking, with trails suitable for all ages and abilities. The closest dump point is a 9-minute drive to the “Town of Topiary” Railton, where you will find a charming coffee shop, a hotel, post office, a petrol station with a convenience store, a mechanic and a takeaway shop.
Railton boasts the delightful Goliath Park, with multiple recreational activities available including tennis and pickleball courts, a pump track, skate park, covered barbeque and picnic area and playground. It’s also where you’ll find a trail head for the World Class Wild Mersey Mountain Bike Network. Every Saturday morning, an idyllic bush setting hosts the Railton Park Run.
Ten minutes up the road you’ll find Sheffield, the Town of Murals and further south, Cradle Mountain.
This is a working farm, we have working dogs and sheep, so four-legged friends must remain on leash.

The 35-acre property offers views of Quamby Bluff, and various options to explore and relax. Find yourself a nice quiet spot, where you can enjoy peace and quiet. Although we take several bookings at once, you are guaranteed a secluded nook, there is plenty of space.
There is a wood fired hot tub beside the creek, which all campers have access to. Imagine star gazing from the hot tub of an evening, or enjoying a morning soak whilst keeping your eyes peeled for the resident platypus in their natural habitat! Firewood is provided for the hot tub, you may buy wood on site for your individual campfires. The hot Tub is not for wild parties, but to relax and view the native wild life, quietly watch the platypus in their natural environment.
Please note, we accept one camper trailer/caravan per booking. If you are traveling in a group with multiple caravans, you will need to book multiple sites - but will still be able to camp close together although we dont allow big noisy, disruptive groups anymore! Our property runs beef and cultivates crops alongside the Ringarooma river, North East Tasmania. We often host mountain bike riders here to access the world-class trails at Derby. Nearby are many marked mountain trails, and numerous falls. Skiing is 1hr away in the winter.
Our camping site is alongside cattle grazing paddocks and the Ringarooma river, and we offer one site only, to one group at a time, so it's yours exclusively. A toilet is available nearby.
A gravel track descends to the river with a short steep bank preceding the flats. When the track reaches the river the camping site is just through the gate on the right. One gate and two wire gates may require opening on the way and these gates need to be closed again to prevent cattle from wandering. Electrical fencing is in use and alive - please be careful!
Wood for your campfire is available to purchase, $15. I can supply fresh sourdough loaves $6 also fresh eggs $3perhalf doz, and fresh cows milk most of the year $5/2L. Fly fish for trout and cook over the coals for a treat.
Welcome to bring your dog along, but please keep them under control.

There are wonderful fishing, swimming and kayaking options at Merseylea and Kimberley less than 10 minutes’ drive away.
You'll find many opportunities for hiking, with trails suitable for all ages and abilities. The closest dump point is a 9-minute drive to the “Town of Topiary” Railton, where you will find a charming coffee shop, a hotel, post office, a petrol station with a convenience store, a mechanic and a takeaway shop.
Railton boasts the delightful Goliath Park, with multiple recreational activities available including tennis and pickleball courts, a pump track, skate park, covered barbeque and picnic area and playground. It’s also where you’ll find a trail head for the World Class Wild Mersey Mountain Bike Network. Every Saturday morning, an idyllic bush setting hosts the Railton Park Run.
Ten minutes up the road you’ll find Sheffield, the Town of Murals and further south, Cradle Mountain.

We’re big fans of Hip Camps and our host Bowen has skyrocketed this site our #1. Firstly you’re right in the middle of wine country so head west day one and east day 2. The site is private and stunning, wood burns beautifully, walk through the vineyard to the cellar door for tastings, and the farm treats from Bowen, you will have to visit to see. Perfect!

We loved the tranquility and the views! Petrina was a welcoming host who met us at her gate and directed us to our own huge site. We loved having a firepit off the ground and the night skies went on forever! The grass was green and mowed. We stayed 2 nights but could have spent a week! Delightful Deloraine is 20 mins away, and we drove around to Liffey Falls for a lovely rainforest walk. We will be back!!

The location is brilliant. Beaconsfield‘s township is a short walk away, yet this HipCamp feels like it’s in the country. We had a beautiful view of the dam from our site. We were the only ones in the HipCamp. There are two sites with barbecue tables and fireplaces. Both sites are well maintained. In Winter, the site at the end of the dam would be ideal, as you would receive morning sun. Plenty of space in both sites for charging solar panels. The Hipcamp would be ideal for children as there’s a lot of space in which they can run around. 3 Kayaks are also provided for use. A gentle pony lives on the property and it’s lovely when she comes and pays you a visit. If it’s been raining, pack gum boots or other boots as the pony likes to spend a lot of time at the entry gate. Solar powered fairy lights have been wrapped around a number of the trees, which looked lovely. You’ll also have phone reception at this Hipcamp.

Easy directions to camp. Nice and close (15 mins) to the Spirit of Tasmania terminal at Devonport. We met the owner who showed us where to fish and see the platypus and where to fill up with water. Campsite was nice and open and big. We saw the horses but no platypus. Great camp, highly recommend.
