If you want to see the coast shown in these photos, both the Tasman Island Cruise and Wild Ocean Tasmania offer excellent trips Bookings are for two adults; children under 16 are free. It may be possible for larger groups to occupy one site - please enquire before booking. As the site is teeming with wildlife including the barred bandicoot, we don't allow dogs. There are no facilities on the block apart from a long drop dunny (byo paper) and a small supply of non-potable water so you will need to be self-sufficient though there are good meals at the nearby Lufra Hotel and excellent coffee just up the road at the legendary Cubed Coffee van. On most Saturdays our small farmgate stall is open near the farm garden, off Bruny island Main Rd near Simpsons Bay Turn Off. The farmgate stall offers farm garden produce, cookies, jams, preserves & firewood. The Woodlander Campsite is set in our bottom forest paddock, next to a dam, with a seasonal winter creek. It is private and peaceful, with no other campers, houses, or nearby neighbours. We welcome travellers, with up to two vehicles, who are here to enjoy the peace and quiet (no parties please). The campsite has its own separate access, site toilet, solid picnic table and chairs, firepit and and is approximately 600 meters from where we live. Next to 70 acres of forest the location is great for birdlife, with many of Tassie's endemics around, and other wildlife abundant after dark. Based approx 5 minutes from Alonnah and 10 minutes from Adventure Bay, the "Woodlander" is central to so much of what Bruny Island has to offer.

Very private valley nestled between two mountainous sandstone ranges. 3.5 kilometers from Colebrook, via Yarlington road. The property in total size is 37 hectares half of which is gently undulating grassland slopes. These slopes lead to the banks of the beautiful Iles Creek which runs nearly all year round. The western range across the creek includes numerous caves within comfortable walking distance. The highest cave provides magnificent views to the East coast. Camping options include non-designated sites either side of the creek under the huge black-wood trees, restricted to 4-wheel drive vehicles during winter and spring months, with a secluded site with year-round access for all vehicles. At the entrance sits the first of the designated sites, the rest are accessed via the meandering road down 300 or so meters to the camping ground entrance for the other two sites. The last 500-700 meters of Yarlington road leading to the entrance is quite steep. Some two wheel drive vehicles towing large vans have found this challenging, while others haven't. The two main camping areas now have a 'bush loo' in each site. if you wish to use these please use your own paper. Also, now for camper convenience the whole area has access to the campers' lounge and resource shelter. It contains First Aid and snake bite first aid kits. Water is available here. Like so many of the towns on the Derwent River, this region is very popular with bushwalkers, fishing enthusiasts, and mountain bike riders. Overlooking the "pot-belly" of the Derwent River, This place is a fishing and kayaking heaven . Have a swim in summer, kayak or go for an adventure on your mountain bike. There are two kayaks and two SUPs you are welcome to use. And there is a boat ramp just a few kms down the road to launch your boat. The Bunkhouse is a beautifully built structure, with large windows and plenty of space. It's two storey, with the upper open-plan level accommodating 8 people in single bunk beds. A further two guests can sleep on the large sofa bed downstairs. The bunkhouse is fully self-contained with a kitchenette, toilet and shower.Clean sheets and blankets . Wi- Fi and streamed TV movie channels Please note - this is not the ritz! It's a simple bunkhouse, providing shelter to sleep, in a great location. If you wish to make use of the firepit, you'll need to BYO wood, this firepit is not often used. Instead, we'd recommend bringing a small portable bbq with you to set up by the river! There are Mountain biking options in the area but just not within the National Park. Campers must be nature-orientated travelers, this is not a place suitable for Port Arthur only tourists.

Weekend Trip to Sea Cliff Lookout Bus

Breathtaking! I watched a whale breach multiple times through the binoculars from the deck, had a relaxing soak in the outdoor fire bath, wandered the beautiful forest that surrounds the property, and enjoyed all of the wildlife even a white goshawk and pademelons with joeys! The bus is so comfy, cosy, the fire inside made sure of that. My second, visit and many more to come. A truly beautiful escape.

This space was so wonderfully private and peaceful. The hobbit hut really separates this space from others, and makes camping here even more special, and it’s helpful for keeping things dry overnight if needed. It’s a great location on the island, too. Highly recommend this beautiful spot!

What a Fantastic Camping Spot so close to Hobart . We had 4 vans set up on flat ground near a clean toilet with great views and peace and quiet , what more could you ask for ! Heaven. Paul and Sarah are great hosts and the property is so well looked after . 30 minutes from home but could be in the of nowhere . We will definitely come back again

Great glamping experience in a lovely location. Miles and his family have done a fabulous job with converting the bus into a wonderful place to stay with supporting kitchen and bathroom amenities. The fire was prepared and ready to light with wood ready for night two. With ample options to relax outside or inside along with a super comfy bed. it was a seamless off grid trip. Can recommend the fire bath and thanks for the bottle of wine.

We loved staying at Prossers Ridge , the near 360 views , sunsets and sunrises were wonderful. It was pretty stormy when we stayed so didn’t light a fire but enjoyed being close to wineries and Richmond for rainy day lunches. The place is well thought out with fireplaces spread out to give privacy if it’s busy. There was only one other camper when we visited so felt very secluded. We hope to return in the warmer weather.

Absolutely stunning! Would 100% come back here again. Lots of area to choose from with amazing views and some firewood provided if you want a fire up there. Unfortunately our set up wasn’t well thought out for the wind warnings (roof top tent) so we had to leave but the owner was so kind to arrange a refund almost instantly for us. There was a caravan up there at the same time which seemed to have no issues at all.
