Beautiful 8 acre property situated on the edge of the Craigbourne Dam, 2 minutes from the township of Colebrook and 50 minutes from the Hobart CBD. Our property offers are great getaway experience for any traveller. The Craigbourne Dam is a all year round recreational fishing ground and stocks many species of fish i.e. Atlantic Salmon, Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout to name a few. Our property is a pet friendly park but we do ask all patrons to be considerate of the surrounding farmland and live stock . As we are a fully self contained campground we do not provide power, toilets or showers. You'll need to have your own amenities and discard of any rubbish . Limit phone coverage but still enough to call/text Contained campfires permitted when restrictions aren't in place. Firewood for sale for a small fee (see Extras). Located 4km from Launceston CBD, you feel you could be miles away from civilisation but have all the conveniences of a big town just minutes away. Campgrounds are nestled amongst lakes and wetlands, with an abundance of wildlife sharing the grounds with campers. Apricus Restaurant is on the property, hosting all the farm animals (highland cows, alpacas, cheeky goats and furry donkeys to name a few!). Toilets are available along with a dump point. Please note there are no shower facilities. Hipcamp sites are unpowered, but have access to town water. Powered sites are available but need to be booked through the Old Macs website. **Please note that it's $20 per person per night. Small farm and vineyard at Macquarie Plains in the Upper Derwent Valley, southern Tasmania. The property is 380m from the junction of the Lyell Highway and the Gordon River Road. It has 450m absolute river frontage on the River Derwent (no riparian reserve). The river here is freshwater, potable and a renowned trout water, (licence required). Three kilometres from the village of Gretna. 4WD Preferred. 2WD need to assess river access. Campers need all own amenities and leave no trace. Dog friendly but please see rules, we have livestock and so dogs need to be well controlled at all times. Campfires permitted when restrictions aren't in place (see rules around campfires). Due to hydro generation activity, the river may slowly rise or fall up to 1m (often without rain) so please be careful around the water.

Stringybark is a quiet 80 hectare rural property in the North East of Tasmania, featuring bush, native grassland and 4 beautiful lakes. It's the perfect place to kick back and relax, enjoy the views, the abundant wildlife and refreshing swims in the lakes on the property. If you feel like going for a wander, you can spend hours exploring the bush and native grasslands on the property and if you're keen on climbing the hill you get rewarded with amazing views over the Great Western Tiers. Why not take your mountain bike up there and enjoy the downhill ride afterwards? Sunsets are spectacular at Stringybark and the skies phenomenal during clear nights. Although it feels like the end of the world, surrounded by bush and wildlife, we're only 30 minutes drive from Launceston CBD, Ben Lomond National Park and Josef Chromy's winery and only a 20 minute drive from Launceston Airport, making it a perfect base to explore Launceston and surrounds. You need to be fully self contained and there are no amenities. But there is a beautiful lake with jetty to swim in. We live on the property, just a stone's throw from the camp site, so if you ever need anything, just shout out. Dogs are permitted, however strictly on lead only to protect the wildlife and our sheep. If your dog gets very excited around wildlife or sheep, this may not be a suitable stay, since they might come right up to your camp. Please note, that Stringybark is a working property. While we'll always respect your privacy and keep noise levels to a minimum, please be aware that we do work on the land and that tools, building material and other rural property stuff can be present at any time (never on the campsite though). Please ALWAYS supervise children and pets, particularly in the following areas: -bush and grass areas where snakes can be present most of the year -around the shed where we store farm materials -around our lakes which are not fenced in We're so excited to be sharing our piece of paradise with campers from near and far and from all walks of life :)

Situated in the middle of Cressy (20-minute drive from Launceston) on an acre and a half. You are guaranteed a secured place to stay and enjoy a few days, whether it’s just resting before moving on or heading down to the local rivers for a fish. The famous Rustic Bakehouse and Ringwood Hotel are just down the road. Dog friendly. You'll need be self-contained with own amenities. Guests must be over 18 and must be in a self-contained vehicle. No tents. Cressy is Tasmania's only 'troutified' township as the local area is a mecca for fly fishing. Located 34 km south west of Launceston, Cressy is a small, attractive, and historically significant town which came into existence in the 1850s to service the surrounding wheat farms. Very nice back yard hidden from the street. Views of the mountains.

This place is a must when passing through the area or exploring Mt Field national park and Gorden dam. Derek is a tremendous host , full of information on the area and Tasmania in general. We had as much free fire wood as we wanted, water available and a beautiful grassed area over looking the Derwent river. If you like wine, grab a bottle or two of Derek’s reds he makes on the property, and for a hot tip ask him to give you a tour of his vineyard. Thank you Derek for a wonderful 5 night stay. Hopefully we will be back in a few weeks.

The location was ideal just by the Craigbourne dam and the views were breathtaking. There is plenty of space and flat ground to camp or get the camper van parked. Really nice place to relax and have a fireplace going just as we did. Great hosts as well. Would definitely be back 👍🏻

We loved staying at Old Macs farm, we were able to drive in and find any site we chose. We were able to secure a nice area with walking tracks, ponds, water available for the caravan if needed. It was nice and quiet and will be using this place to camp at again for sure!

This is our second time camping at Derek's farm and his gem is now our favourite spot in Tassie. Derek is one of the nicest hosts ever. He has so much knowledge of the area. Great open space on the waters edge. The dam is interesting to walk along. No tree shade but thats ok in Tassie Spring. Lots of birds to watch. The dogs had a great time too. Great to have campfires- plenty of wood. There is a public toilet about 1km away just FYI.

Great spot for a weekend away! Even though it was windy and cloudy we very much enjoyed it. Fabulous views of the hills beyond the dam, especially watching all the different birds and farm animals. Waking up to the view was amazing because we were right on the water’s edge ☺️ Milly the dog was absolutely gorgeous too.
