We are a Poll Merino sheep stud and a wheat/barley cropping farm at Emu Downs in the Mid North of SA. We have resurrected this character old workers quarters which we've turned into a rustic, peaceful abode for you to enjoy. Sleeps four (double bed, single bed and old miners couch,). Bring your own bedding. There is a flushing external toilet and a bush shower (ie: a shower bag, provided). The room with the open fire can be utilised as a kitchen/living area. We've provided crockery, cutlery, glasses, kettles and a camp oven. There is running cold rainwater into the sink. Cooking can be done on the open fire, or use the small camp gas cookers. There is also a gas BBQ in the outdoor room. If you are really brave, try your hand at camp oven cooking in the campfire. There is no power, only lighting provided from a small solar panel/battery. Extra guests welcome in tents, swags or vans adjacent to the cottage. To ensure only one group of campers at a time, THE COTTAGE HAS TO BE BOOKED FIRST, then book the extra campers through the additional campsites listing. Eckert's Old Place is within an easy drive to the Clare Valley wine regions and historic Robertstown, Burra and Eudunda. Campfires welcome when not in fireban season. It is bordered by Currency Creek, which flows with crystal-clear water from a spring all year round, and is a wonderful track to hike around and enjoy beautiful views of the inlets and creeks leading to the lower lakes. The farmhouse is surrounded by huge pine trees and gums, and there is an easy access turn-around driveway and plenty of parking. The property is only a short distance from Goolwa, Middleton, and Victor Harbor. In the future, the plans are to have a veggie garden for tenants to pick from and chickens, ducks, and small animals to associate with. There are cattle with calves and sheep in the neighboring paddocks. We have invited you to bring your dog along, but at this stage, they will have to be tethered at all times so they do not escape and interfere with stock. This is for their safety as well.
