Still cheaper than other parks in the area with spectacular views available and so green out there, it’s beautiful In 2019 I was sitting in my Alfresco Area feeling that the beauty offered in front of my property should be shared to people I thought might appreciate a different aspect to Coober. Since that time I have probably had 2000+ guests enjoy what Coober Pedy Views has to offer. Whilst it remains a rustic type setting, with campers needing to be SELF SUFFICIENT (Flushing LOO with a VIEW is now available for campers without their own) I can offer Power (subject to availability) $10 pn to 6/8 sites. Digging anywhere on the property is forbidden, there are no Opals on CPVs evident when the 3 large garages were dug. Digging softens the ground making it dangerous for avalanches on the embankments and walls especially after rain that creates washouts as you can see on the front embankments. Welcome to Marron Bush Escape, located in Gosse, in the Western River area (western end, near Flinders Chase National Park) of beautiful Kangaroo Island! This is a beautiful, remote, rural 250 acre private property, it is home to a number of sheep, features dams that have Marron and boasts the best that nature has to offer. Rest assured, you will not see any neighbours on this property; just picturesque landscapes everywhere you look! It is approximately a 1.5 hour drive from Penneshaw, where you get off the ferry. We offer powered and unpowered camp sites, as well as a bush, cabin. Camp fires (small) are allowed when fire restrictions allow. There is a fire pit that can be used when there is no fire ban, with barbecue plate and camp ovens for old-style bush cooking or cooking up your fresh organic Kangaroo Island Marron. There is a drop toilet at the back and external lights and an external kitchen sink with hot and cold water. There is one drop dunny and limited rain water (you are welcome to bring your own drinking water if you need extra). For your convenience, there are recycling and rubbish bins at corner of Snug and Colman’s Rd for all waste disposal. On half of our property we have sheep and lambs in the paddocks. Bring your camera, and you just might be lucky enough to see little lambs playing and even being born. We may also be shearing and invite you to see how this is done. The other half of the property is untouched natural scrub with grass and trees 12 foot tall. There are koalas, eagles, kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and lots of other native animals and a creek with small waterfalls. In winter time the ground can be boggy, so a 4WD is desirable and will allow you to explore further. From the cabin, make your way down past the dams and go through the shiny gate at the bottom of the hill (please close the gate behind you). Here, you'll discover 125 acres of untouched Kangaroo Island wilderness with walking trails to explore. Keep an eye out for koalas, kangaroos, wedge-tail eagles, wallabies, large grass trees etc We also have two small lakes that you can have a picnic by or drop some Marron nets in for a fresh feed. There are weighing scales provided at the shed so you can pay for them. This is on an honesty system- so please do the right thing, as we have already been burnt from the fires. You must contact me if you wish to fish for marron prior to catching any. There are no shops or restaurants close by (stock up before arriving!) and you will need to travel down dirt roads but you will really have the opportunity to get off the grid, get back to nature and make memories in the stunning, untouched, Kangaroo Island wilderness! We are a Poll Merino sheep stud and a wheat/barley cropping farm at Emu Downs in the Mid North of SA. We have resurrected this character old workers quarters which we've turned into a rustic, peaceful abode for you to enjoy. Sleeps four (double bed, single bed and old miners couch,). BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING. There is a flushing external toilet and a bush shower (ie: a shower bag, provided). The room with the open fire can be utilised as a kitchen/living area. We've provided crockery, cutlery, glasses, kettles and a camp oven. There is running cold rainwater into the sink. Cooking can be done on the open fire, or use the small camp gas cookers. There is also a gas BBQ in the outdoor room. If you are really brave, try your hand at camp oven cooking in the campfire. There is no power, only lighting provided from a small solar panel/battery. Extra guests welcome in tents, swags or vans adjacent to the cottage. To ensure only one group of campers at a time, THE COTTAGE HAS TO BE BOOKED FIRST, then book the extra campers through the additional campsites listing. Eckert's Old Place is within an easy drive to the Clare Valley wine regions and historic Robertstown, Burra and Eudunda. Campfires welcome when not in fireban season. You can order a wheelbarrow load for $30, or bring your own. Dogs are permitted, but please understand, we are a sheep stud and need to ensure no disturbance from dogs. Welcome to your dream destination!! We have two different locations available in Kangaroo Island with some options of sites in each. FIRST LOCATION: EMU BAY HIDEAWAY-30 hectares of peace, mainly vegetated with Kangaroo Island Narrow-leaved Mallee (Eucalyptus cneorifolia, a nationally-protected ecological community). Kangaroos and wallabies are in abundance. It has a wonderful feeling of remoteness and seclusion yet is so close to iconic Emu Bay. Those with 4WD may choose sites overlooking Shoal Bay towards Kingscote. Alternatively, you may set up camp anywhere on the property. There is even one under-cover position with a concrete floor for those concerned about the weather. There are no amenities so guests need to be 100% self-sufficient (including BYO drinking water and toilet) and leave no trace. It is a wild block and only five minutes from the iconic Emu Bay, where the white sandy beach runs for 4kms, most of which is backed by 10 to 20-meter-high dunes. It is one of the best beaches on the island with crystal-clear water. SECOND LOCATION: Farm Stay about 15 km from Emu Bay and 20km from the main town of Kingscote. This is an operating small sheep farm of over 100ha. For security reasons the exact location is not advertised, but will be disclosed upon arrival on Kangaroo Island. There are several beautiful sites. This location is fairly central to most KI visitor attractions. It is a secure place to set up camp and have peace of mind that your belongings will be safe while you are away from the site. The host takes care to situate sites to give campers the feeling of exclusiveness. NOTES; Check with me before lighting a campfire - this depends on the season and risk. Dogs are permitted if well controlled (register visiting dogs with local council). We had a wonderful time here! The weather was cold and foggy but that did not stop us from sitting outside by the large fire pit ! And we had plenty of wood supplied to be warm and cosy inside this was the perfect weekend getaway.

It was our second time to this stay. It's an amazing part of the world with some great hikes nearby. It's very simple and has everything we need. It's so quiet and the views are amazing. Will be back again.

Weekend Trip to Beachport Caravan Park

What a fantastic location with such a nicely made tent. It’s perfect size for a couple to use. Also nicely organised and presented interior. Essential appliance was available to use inside the tent. Recommend to anyone wishing to visit The Beachport. Definitely come again later :).

Weekend Trip to Eckert’s Old Place

Our group of 6 had a lovely weekend camping at Eckerts Old Place. Chris and Philip have put alot of effort into the little cottage, providing a comfortable shelter. We had our caravan for the added fridge and bathroom facilities although the outdoor shower was sampled by one keen lad. Sitting around the camp-fire with the stars and the country quiet were really special.

My family and I had a great time staying at Eckerts old place. The hut had everything we needed and there was plenty of space for my parents camper trailer. The area was very peaceful, ther perfect spot to relax over the weekend.

2 nights at Marron Bush Escape

The camp is a hidden gem. As long as you don’t mind roughing it a little and don’t mind cleaning to make the place better for the next person. It is remote - you need to bring all your own creature comforts as there is nothing around you. Catching marron in the dams is a unique experience and cooking it over the fire is next level. Such a beautiful isolated place - and an absolute treat to stay there.

Our group of 10 (some love proper camping, others not so much) very much enjoyed our time at eckerts old place. Being able to have a quick shower, have access to a flushing toilet and shelter when windy/rainy made all the difference! Will definitely be making a return, maybe when it’s a little cooler to cozy around the fire pit!

We had a great stay at Chris and Philip’s place. They were helpful with answering any questions that we had and checking in with us which was lovely. The property was beautiful and quiet, the cottage was clean and had everything we need including a nice spot of well kept grass to relax on. It was also amazing to see the history and read about and see the photos of the restoration that has been done at the cottage, we truly enjoyed our time here and would definitely stay again.

The Carriage ! Wow, views, views, and more views . Yes, it's simple but perfect, the decking looking out ,with a couch and table supplied is the most perfect place to relax , read, or just dream the day away! Set up a fly net inside with bedding (as bugs still can enter) for extra warmth, and coverage glamping not camping. The portaloo is another added camping luxury. This was my first solo trip and couldn't have had a better, safer experience, I will definitely be back and may even take the hubby..if he's lucky! 🤣🤣

Loved our one night stay on our way to Flinders Ranges and Lake Eyre from Flinders Victoria. After a couple of nights camping in the ute, it was lovely having a loo to use and under cover cooking facilities of a bbq. We still camped in our ute but enjoyed the gorgeous old stone building to store our clothes and get changed in. The outdoor shower was just a bag warmed up in the sun. The outdoor fire was great to sit around too. We enjoyed chatting to Philip about his poll merino stud.

We had a great time camping over the October long weekend. Was great to have the amenities, flushing toilet, the BBQ and outdoor table. The cottage was quaint, but perfect size for our large group to enjoy camping. Yard was plenty big to spread out with nice rolling hills past crop fields for scenery - adjacent, a farm shed hiding behind some greenery. It is easy to get to, smooth dirt roads from all directions with Burra about 30 minutes away and Robertstown about 15.

We loved our two night stay at the old railway carriage. Absolutely beautiful views and very curious cows that'll great you in the mornings. Heaps of room to roam and plenty of birds chirping. Pictures don't do it justice.

Totally charming stay. The view from the deck was blissful and the cottage was set up with everything you need. My Irish husband loved cooking breakfast on the indoor fire and having a view over the fields from the dunny. Five stars. Hope to stay again.
