Still cheaper than other parks in the area with spectacular views available and so green out there, it’s beautiful In 2019 I was sitting in my Alfresco Area feeling that the beauty offered in front of my property should be shared to people I thought might appreciate a different aspect to Coober. Since that time I have probably had 2000+ guests enjoy what Coober Pedy Views has to offer. Whilst it remains a rustic type setting, with campers needing to be SELF SUFFICIENT (Flushing LOO with a VIEW is now available for campers without their own) I can offer Power (subject to availability) $10 pn to 6/8 sites. Digging anywhere on the property is forbidden, there are no Opals on CPVs evident when the 3 large garages were dug. Digging softens the ground making it dangerous for avalanches on the embankments and walls especially after rain that creates washouts as you can see on the front embankments. We are a Poll Merino sheep stud and a wheat/barley cropping farm at Emu Downs in the Mid North of SA. We have resurrected this character old workers quarters which we've turned into a rustic, peaceful abode for you to enjoy. Sleeps four (double bed, single bed and old miners couch,). BRING YOUR OWN BEDDING. There is a flushing external toilet and a bush shower (ie: a shower bag, provided). The room with the open fire can be utilised as a kitchen/living area. We've provided crockery, cutlery, glasses, kettles and a camp oven. There is running cold rainwater into the sink. Cooking can be done on the open fire, or use the small camp gas cookers. There is also a gas BBQ in the outdoor room. If you are really brave, try your hand at camp oven cooking in the campfire. There is no power, only lighting provided from a small solar panel/battery. Extra guests welcome in tents, swags or vans adjacent to the cottage. To ensure only one group of campers at a time, THE COTTAGE HAS TO BE BOOKED FIRST, then book the extra campers through the additional campsites listing. Eckert's Old Place is within an easy drive to the Clare Valley wine regions and historic Robertstown, Burra and Eudunda. Campfires welcome when not in fireban season. You can order a wheelbarrow load for $30, or bring your own. Dogs are permitted, but please understand, we are a sheep stud and need to ensure no disturbance from dogs. Weekend Trip to Eckert’s Old Place

Our group of 6 had a lovely weekend camping at Eckerts Old Place. Chris and Philip have put alot of effort into the little cottage, providing a comfortable shelter. We had our caravan for the added fridge and bathroom facilities although the outdoor shower was sampled by one keen lad. Sitting around the camp-fire with the stars and the country quiet were really special.

Being able to have a quick shower, have access to a flushing toilet and shelter when windy/rainy made all the difference! We had a great stay at Chris and Philip’s place. They were helpful with answering any questions that we had and checking in with us which was lovely. The property was beautiful and quiet, the cottage was clean and had everything we need including a nice spot of well kept grass to relax on. It was also amazing to see the history and read about and see the photos of the restoration that has been done at the cottage, we truly enjoyed our time here and would definitely stay again.

The Carriage ! Wow, views, views, and more views . Yes, it's simple but perfect, the decking looking out ,with a couch and table supplied is the most perfect place to relax , read, or just dream the day away! Set up a fly net inside with bedding (as bugs still can enter) for extra warmth, and coverage glamping not camping. The portaloo is another added camping luxury. This was my first solo trip and couldn't have had a better, safer experience, I will definitely be back and may even take the hubby..if he's lucky! 🤣🤣

Loved our one night stay on our way to Flinders Ranges and Lake Eyre from Flinders Victoria. After a couple of nights camping in the ute, it was lovely having a loo to use and under cover cooking facilities of a bbq. We still camped in our ute but enjoyed the gorgeous old stone building to store our clothes and get changed in. The outdoor shower was just a bag warmed up in the sun. The outdoor fire was great to sit around too. We enjoyed chatting to Philip about his poll merino stud.

Weekend Trip to Eckert’s Old Place

We had a great time camping over the October long weekend. Was great to have the amenities, flushing toilet, the BBQ and outdoor table. The cottage was quaint, but perfect size for our large group to enjoy camping. Yard was plenty big to spread out with nice rolling hills past crop fields for scenery - adjacent, a farm shed hiding behind some greenery. It is easy to get to, smooth dirt roads from all directions with Burra about 30 minutes away and Robertstown about 15.

We loved our two night stay at the old railway carriage. Absolutely beautiful views and very curious cows that'll great you in the mornings. Heaps of room to roam and plenty of birds chirping. Pictures don't do it justice.

1 night at Eckert’s Old Place

Totally charming stay. The view from the deck was blissful and the cottage was set up with everything you need. My Irish husband loved cooking breakfast on the indoor fire and having a view over the fields from the dunny. Five stars. Hope to stay again.

Weekend Trip to Goose's Pond & Norm's Farm B & B

We loved The Carriage…Such a unique cute place to stay! Billy-Jo was lovely and guided us up the hill & then left us to have privacy. 360 degree views of the lush hills, hidden away so you feel like you have them all to yourself. Relaxing, stunning, & so peaceful! The shelter and addition of a little table & chairs, a fire-pit and a porta-loo made our camping really easy. We went for a nice walk around the property and met the cows along the way. Then we had dinner on the deck (we bought a small cooker with us) whilst watching the sun go down. Then we had a little camp-fire with the red-gum we purchased prior, listening to the sounds of the farm. We slept in our swag inside. It is fully enclosed, which was good because it was super windy. Lyndoch is close by for coffee.

Weekend Trip to Goose's Pond & Norm's Farm B & B

We loved camping at The Carriage at Billie-Jo’s Hipcamp. Billie was incredibly accommodating and made the entire process straightforward and stress free. The site itself is stunning and scenic, offering breathtaking views of the rolling green hills of Lyndoch. Its prime location is not only convenient being close to wineries and excellent day hikes but also enriched by delightful morning visits from the cows. The facilities add to the overall charm. The ladies appreciated having a restroom right on site, and the old rail carriage provided a charming space that doubled as a day hangout and an ideal kitchen area. We can’t recommend this spot enough and I can’t wait to return!

Perfect spot for a group of friends. Room for 3-4 people inside the house and plenty of room for vans/swags. Open fire and fire pit. Heysen trial nearby. Perfect little getaway.

Staying at Eckert’s Old Place was truly like stepping into a living piece of Australian history. The moment we arrived, we could feel the warmth and charm of a family farm that has stood the test of time for generations. It reminded us of the spirit of early settlers – resilient, grounded, and deeply connected to the land. Every corner of the home is filled with soul. The vintage décor, timeless furnishings, and thoughtful touches are just old enough to transport you back to a simpler era – when our great-grandparents might have gathered around a fireplace after a long day on the farm. One of the highlights of our stay was playing board games by candlelight, nestled next to the chimney as the fire crackled gently beside us. That simple moment brought so much joy – it felt like a scene from the past, untouched by time, yet deeply comforting. The surroundings are peaceful, the hosts are genuine and welcoming, and the experience is one we’ll carry with us for a long time. If you’re looking for a place that celebrates heritage, family roots, and the essence of rural Australia, this is it. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a heartfelt, authentic, and soul-soothing stay.

2 nights at Eckert’s Old Place

Such a treat to step back in time in this magic stone cottage. It’s delightfully rustic with a brilliant fire place and gentle candle light to read and cook by. Do buy a barrow of wood from Chris as it’s a great mix of kindling and all night burning logs. We loved our two days here!

Weekend Trip to Eckert’s Old Place

Our group was a mixture of tents, swags, camper trailers and cottage users. It was great to be able to use the cottage during what was a VERY windy, cold and wet weekend. The fireplace was amazing and much appreciated. We loved the rustic charm and were pleasantly surprised at the amount of crockery and cooking utensils. Even made a big pot of soup on the open fire.
