A friendly welcome to Alva Beach Tourist Park tucked away in the small coastal village of Alva and just a 15km drive from the town of Ayr and Burdekin Shire. We are located a few hundred meters at the back of the dunes of the beach. The park consists of 5 acres of tropical grounds with park sites and cabins set amongst coconut palms and hibiscus hedges. We offer powered and non-powered sites with or without slabs. We have En-suite Cabins that can sleep up to six persons or budget cabins that will sleep up to 4 persons. Our park being coastal catches the great cooling sea breezes during the hotter summer months and our sparkling pool is a great spot to soak up the sun and cool off with a few laps. We have 4WD access from the park onto the beach for boat launching, fishing, and crabbing. The region is a well-known fishing mecca, with access to Barramundi, mud crabs, other estuary species, and off-coast reef fishing. Alva is also the closest point to the world-famous SS Yongala wreck. Ranked as one of the top ten dive sites in the world.

On Magnetic Island in Queenslands north you'll find our secluded island cabin. It is purpose built for guests and is fully self contained. Comfortable queen bed, lounge, kitchen, bathroom with a beautiful under cover outdoor shower, fans, air-conditioning and washing machine. There is a covered deck attached to cabin and a paved area to relax in by outdoor BBQ. Large outdoor pool for your use, in a shared area with the owners. The cabin is very private, surrounded by native flora and fauna and growing gardens. The cabin is completely separate to our family home. It is a truely peaceful spot with the beach less than a kilometre away. Horseshoe Bay is the gateway to many of our beautiful bays and tracks including the famous Forts walk. There are water activities and a life guard patrolled swim area. Several little cafes restaurants and a local pub are also in the bay. There is a great bus service on the island and nearest bus stop is less than 2 km away. Rental cars are also available at good rates.

Located on the stunning Magnetic Island we have an off grid camping area. With absolute beach frontage, this little spot is host to one of the best sunsets in Australia. Campers are required to be self contained but can have use of shower and toilet facilities. Campers must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. Fishing approximately 50m from the door step produces some good fish including Barra, queenfish and grunter. A 15 minute drive and you're at Picnic bay where you can enjoy a pub feed, cold beverage or a round of golf. Please note that there's approx 6km of dirt rd to get here including a few causeways that will flow in wet season. 4WD is recommended.

Perfect Starting Point for exploring Magnetic Island, there are many Wallabies around and even some Koalas. Amenities were nice and clean since you share it with the host. Matt was a pleasure talking to, we had a really good time at his place :)

I really enjoyed my time there. However it looks nothing like the photos which are more akin to a well maintained caravan park, this was let go enough to be a nice grassy bush experience which I enjoyed. Be fully self contained, I wouldn't go anywhere near the toilet block. The creek is further from camp than I prefer, but after a short stroll what a gem. You'll never want to leave the water. MANY! people coming for free swimming which annoyed me having paid $110 for my rights.

We had a great stay at Bush Retreat! A great spot with wild wallabies wandering around. The facilities available to us were clean and well maintained and very appreciated after a rainy day! Matt is very approachable and lovely and a great host and we would stay again!

We were booked to stay at Mt. Surround, but the weather just wasn't in our favour with constant heavy rain having fallen in and around the area for weeks. We did drive into the site though and I'm sure in fine weather it would be absolutely beautiful. Massive trees provide plenty of shade. It would definitely be a 'first in' basis for the best spots beside the dam. The amenities were adequate - just looked, didn't use them though. The pretty faced wallabies were undeterred by the weather and were everywhere - just gorgeous. We would definitely consider rebooking, but it would need to be in dry weather. I would not recommend if wet.

Weekend Trip to Bush Retreat
We didn’t meet Matt as he was away, but his dad was there to greet us. His dad was lovely. He was friendly and had great recommendations for things to do and places to eat. He let us use the amenities like the washing machine, and the shower was the best outdoor shower we’ve had so far whilst travelling. Plus there were lots of wallabies that hopped by us everyday.

Very spacious area, very peaceful at the time of my stay (low season), only minor traffic noise from the highway. I especially enjoyed seeing many birds around the dam, beautiful scenic mountains in the background, big shady trees, simple amenities all clean and functional.

The property had a lovely shower room/toilet with modern and stylish features. The shower had great water pressure and was warm. There were lots of wild wallabies which was cool to see and there is space to do washing up and a gas stove. But most importantly the host was lovely. It was the owner’s dad and he was so kind and attentive and chatted with us about the area. In the evening when we went out we came back to see he had lit the campfire for us and moved 2 chairs next to it too. I would highly recommend staying here!

Formerly known as "Mountain View Lake holiday park" . Relax in this peaceful, family friendly campground, nestled in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and nearby Mount Elliot. Enjoy the 70 Acres of shady grounds with plenty of wildlife, including pretty faced wallabies and abundant birdlife. The 20-acre dam is full of fresh water from all the rain but is still weedy and muddy on the banks. Great for kayaking or SUP. On arrival simply pick a spot you like and set up camp. We do have internet reception. Occasionally reception can be weak depending on what the network is doing. Generally, it is not a problem. Bring Mosquito/sandfly spray especially if camping by the lake. Settle down of an evening sit back and enjoy the spectacular starry night sky. Campfires allowed. Fire rings are available scattered about the site, just roll one to your camp site. Wood for sale, $10 cash per milk crate, from camp kitchen. Please be honest and place cash in the 'honesty box'. Thankyou. Located conveniently 45 km South from Townsville and Magnetic Island ferry terminal, 45km north of Ayr, 8km north of Giru. Pet friendly. All dogs must be on a lead and under owners' control at all times. Dog poo must be picked up. No one wants to step in your dog's poo. Powered and unpowered sites available. Separate men and women's toilets and hot showers. Camp kitchen with shared fridges, gas rings x2, large gas BBQ, toaster, kettle, microwave and picnic tables.
