Hold it Flats is a 120 acre property that borders the beautiful O'Connell River that has water all year round. Take a walk around the property to check out some of the creatures that have been built out of scrap metal and bush bars that have been built all around the property.
There is nice shady trees, green grass and flat camping sites right beside the river with hot showers and flushing toilets. There is plenty of room and some great tracks for the kids and the big kids to ride their push bikes on. The swimming hole is about 2 meters deep and has big shady trees on the edge. There is also enough room for kids to bring their kayaks and have a paddle along the river.
We have some hiking tracks up around the hills of our property that have amazing views of the area.
All campsites can be provided with their own fire pit. You just pick your spot and we will bring a portable fire pit to you. Fire wood can be purchased at the property. All rubbish must be taken with you, there are no rubbish bins provided.

Toilets are located on the property but campers will need their own shower facilities and take all waste with them on departure. Campfires are permitted but must be contained at all times, we also sell firewood at $15 for a milk crate.
Calen is a small cane growing and cattle town with a general store, pharmacy, service station, butcher and the local pub. Zarby's cafe is a short drive away if you would like to dine in for breakfast or lunch in a retro style setting.
Each site fee is for 2 adults and kids stay at no cost.

Just a few things to please note and keep in mind:
1. Road Safety – Richardson and Dorothy Road is an unsealed (dirt) road regularly used by our neighbours for walking pets, riding bikes, and more. Please drive slowly and with care, being mindful of pedestrians, animals, and other vehicles.
2. Noise Consideration – Out of respect for our close neighbours, please keep noise to a minimum—especially in the evenings. Strictly no loud noise after 9:00 PM.
3. Campfire Safety – Fires are only permitted in the supplied fire pit, or in your own fire pit, in accordance with local fire ban rules and regulations. Please ask us if you are unsure.
4. Water Use – Our property relies solely on tank water, which is a limited resource. Please use water thoughtfully—for drinking and washing up only. Water is not to be used for filling caravans or washing vehicles.
5. Rubbish & Recycling – Please use the bins provided for rubbish and recycling while visiting. Do not leave any rubbish outside in plastic bags or around your campsite, as the local wildlife loves a free meal!
6. Property Access – This is a shared property. We kindly ask that guests respect our privacy and stay within the designated campsite and bush shed areas. Please do not enter private zones beyond these spaces.

You will be camping right beside St Helen Creek, just a throwing distance from the Strawberry Farm which is open during the winter months (July- September).

This campsite offers the perfect experience for the whole family. For an additional fee, you can pick strawberries from July- September. Blueberry picking is from October to January.

Fruit Farm Camp offers a peaceful retreat for mature travellers. The unpowered mown campsites are situated ajacent to a farm unfenced dam and on cleared acreage surrounded by natural bush.
After 6 months touring Queensland in 2021 with our own caravan, we decided to develop a picturesque area at the back of our land for mature travellers to enjoy.
20 Years ago the land was virgin scrub, now there are over 300 established different exotic fruit, nut, spice and bush tucker trees and plants. We use a number of different farming techniques. Our own beehives provide pollination and honey. A small farm produce shop is available.
Guests have access to a toilet, solar powered showers and the camp kitchen throughout their stay. Campfires are permitted outside of restrictions and we have firewood available for guests to use on site. There is a 1.5 km undulating bush walk on the property requiring average fitness.
We are located four kilometres from the Bruce Highway at Bloomsbury, access is via sealed road then 300m of gravel road through the farm.
We are just 10 mins from the beach or O'Connell river fishing, 1 hour to Mackay or Airlie Beach, 3 kms to the Dittman Bullarama site and 15 minutes to Bredls Wild Farm. Well behaved pets are welcome.

A very tidy property with well kept gardens around the campsites, and a neat and tidy camp kitchen. Quiet, and conveniently located within a few minutes of Airlie Beach. Kylie and Sheps are very friendly and accommodating hosts, who will do their best to ensure you have a relaxed stay.

What a great little place to park up and relax, or even visit the surrounding areas in the Whitsundays. The hosts were lovely and provided good directions. We were able to fill our water tanks on arrival, which was a bonus. 2 sections atm for vans & smaller set ups, with the ability to choose a site, but would also suit large groups, eg: fishing or just travelling through etc. The host also said they've got lots more improvements & sites on the horizon. Loved being woken up by beautiful birds chirping, as it backs onto bushland. Would definitely recommend and we will return next year to see the progress.

Absolute awesome place to stay we stayed one night at the river front then all the kids were coming in so we escaped over to the over the hill section which was amazing. We just kept extending our stay and ended up staying seven nights instead of one very peaceful, hot showers, good toilets, beautiful views.

Beautiful spot to spend a long weekend, the kids loved exploring the waterways, fishing and riding their bikes around. The open, flat, grassed grounds were well maintained. The hot shower is fantastic after swimming in the cold water all day. The hosts are very inviting, nice to chat to and made the stay feel relaxing. Thumbs up all round. Great spot with wide green areas for group camping, a lovely creek for swimming and kayaking, walks, shelter shed, camp fires and clean amenities. Holdit Flats is only a few kms off the highway yet is quiet and secluded. It’s the perfect spot for a few days of unpowered bush camping. We love it and come with our friends and family every year.
