A beachside family getaway perfect for RV and caravan campers.
If you’re looking for a spot to escape the crowds along Queensland’s central coast, the small town of Midge Point might be just the ticket. Between Mackay and the Whitsunday Islands, this remote beach has shallow waters ideal for swimming, scenic bushwalks along the coast, and great fishing and crabbing. To the north, Conway National Park has hiking trails through the rainforest and views out to the Whitsundays, while a short drive south takes you to Cape Hillsborough National Park, where wild kangaroos can often be spotted hopping along the sandy beaches. Park your self-contained caravan at a bush campground or Hipcamp close to Midge Point, or check into the caravan park in town, where you’ll have powered sites, an amenities block, picnic benches, and a fire pit. There’s also a tourist park at Cape Hillsborough, which has full facilities, including a swimming pool and free wifi.
