Our property is 38 acres in size and is primarily used as an equestrian facility where coaching, clinics and training in dressage are conducted as well as providing agistment.
The camping area is 100 metres or so from the nearest road and next to a dam and provides some of the most gorgeous sunsets around.
Currently you will need to be self sufficient as we don’t have any toilet or shower facilities and we are still working on our shade with the trees having only just been planted.
We are are only 2km from the Bruce hi-way and a comfortable 10 minute drive to the beautiful Bowen beaches, shops, pubs, restaurants making this a great spot to base yourself for your next Bowen getaway or if you are just passing through.

In the small rural town of Millaroo, you will find nestled around sugar cane, horses & a small herd of quiet cattle, a laid back bush camp in a paddock by two dams on the bank of Millaroo Creek.
Here you can bird watch, take leisurely walks down to the creek, enjoy a spot of fresh water fishing/red-clawing, launch the kayak where you may spot the odd fresh water crocodile or sit and relax in tranquility on the creek bank. During harvesting season you may visit regular cane fires in the local area, and may be even lucky enough to catch the burn straight across from the campground! On your way, pull into Cornfords Lookout for a great view of the Burdekin River. The local Millaroo Social Club is a short ten minute drive, where meals are served most Friday nights. The Burdekin river is also a short drive away where you can access the river closer to the township of Millaroo by 4WD for an afternoon barbecue and fish!
Campground offers plenty of fresh water for drinking and filling tanks, does requires campers to be self contained and is pet friendly providing they are supervised at all times.

Ben Lomond Station is an 1800 acre working cattle station 25 minutes south of Bowen and 35 minutes north of Airlie Beach on the Whitsundays. We border onto Eden Lassie Creek which has tidal ocean access for saltwater fishing and there is an abundance of estuary fishing and crab spots available.
We are a nature based camping area. Cleared shady camping spots are available for fully self contained campers as there are currently no facilities available so you must have own camping toilet and leave no trace.
Access to the camping area is for 4WD only with caravans off road and high clearance. However, camp 6 and 8 can be accessed with 2WD.
Firewood is available for a small fee or you can collect any fallen timber yourself. There is a ban on cutting down any standing timber even it is dead.
There is plenty of room to run for the kids and dogs though we do ask that your pet not annoy our cattle or other campers.
Ben Lomond station has an abundance of flora and fauna such as burdekin plum trees, mango trees, wallabies, kangaroos and bird and fish species.
Directions
Heading North- Looking forward to your stay. Directions to Ben Lomond- GPS directions will take you to Glen Eden and Longford Park, this is the wrong road. Stay on the Bruce highway heading north from Proserpine, you’ll go past the Pie Face servo and over the Eden Lassie Creek. On the hill there is a sign on the left stating Jochheim road and Ben Lomond Hipcamp turn to your right. Follow the gravel road, past a high house ( please drive slowly as the road is dusty) and then come to our up and over grid with Ben Lomond sign on it. On the sign is my mobile number give me a call as you come over.
Heading South- Looking forward to your stay. Directions to Ben Lomond- Approximately 20- 25 minutes south of Bowen, you will cross Yeates creek, go past Eden Lassie road on your right, (stay on the highway,) turn on the left - there is a Jochheim Road sign and also a Ben Lomond Hipcamp sign on the top of the hill. ( if you go past the pie face servo you have gone too far). Turn down Jochheim Road and follow the gravel road, past a high house ( please drive slowly as the road is dusty) and then you will come to an up and over grid, you’ll see my mobile number on the sign next to the grid and give me a call.

Welcome to Sunshine Homestead Whitsundays, a relaxed little farm stay in Bowen where you can slow down, spread out, and enjoy a peaceful stay among our animals.
We only accept one camping booking at a time, so you’ll have the camping area to yourself with plenty of room to choose a spot that suits your caravan, camper, motorhome, or tent. There are no numbered or allocated sites — simply pick a comfortable spot, set up, and make yourself at home.
🐐 Meet the animals
Our chickens, other poultry, and small goats roam freely around the property and will likely wander over to say hello during your stay. Guests and children are welcome to interact with the animals; we just ask that they are treated gently and respectfully.
🐕 Pets are welcome
Well-behaved pets are very welcome, provided they are calm and safe around our free-ranging animals. If your pet is likely to chase or become overly excited around chickens, poultry, or goats, they must be kept on a lead.
🔥 Campfires
A fire pit is provided in the camping area for evenings around the fire. Fires are welcome when conditions allow and must comply with any local fire bans or restrictions in place during your stay.
🛝 Family friendly
Children are very welcome and can enjoy our playground and explore the homestead. Children must be supervised by a parent or responsible adult, particularly around animals, the fire pit, and other areas of the property.
🌿 A working family homestead
We're not a caravan park — we're a small, working family homestead. Expect animals wandering around, the occasional farm noise, uneven ground, and everything else that comes with country living. That's part of the experience.
☕ Our Saturday farm stand
Sunshine Homestead is also home to our Saturday morning farm stall, where we sell produce, handmade goods, and freshly made coffee. Saturdays are reserved for our farm stand, so camping is not available on those days, allowing us to keep the camping experience quiet and private while we operate the stall.

Access to the camping area is through a property gate. Your host will meet you at check-in, show you through to the camping area, and help you find a suitable place to set up.

It is a lovely location across the road from a beautiful bay and is right next to interesting walking trails. The amenities are well kept and clean and the hosts very friendly and helpful.
It is a small caravan park and very cosy and has a lovely cafe on site too!

This is our favourite little camp site in Bowen. The owners are super friendly and helpful. Cafe on site is really popular and serves great coffee. The walk to horseshoe bay is on the doorstep and was the highlight of our trip.

We liked the park being so close to the beach! The facilities are clean and convenient, the park is cozy and not noisy. My husband loved to cool down in the pool. You can see the ocean and bolders from the park and especially from the entertainment area. And most importantly the staff are so friendly, the whole park has a friendly atmosphere. Definitely will try to come back!

The reviews are right! This place is a beachside gem! The coffee onsite is amazing, Tony and Bernie were so warm and helpful. The amenities are fresh and clean, this place is the best. Bowen is fabulous when the sun is shining, not much to do when it’s not but have put it on the map to visit again in the future.
