1 night at Millingandi Station

Jodie’s land was in a super convenient location, making it easy to get to and a great base for exploring the area. The price was incredibly affordable—great value for money! One of the best parts was getting a huge load of firewood for just $25, which kept us warm and made for a perfect campfire experience. Jodie was also a very friendly and welcoming host, which made the stay even better. Highly recommended.

We have stayed here before and really enjoyed it here. It is close to everything and is a very pleasant and attractive spot to camp. We particularly like it as we can have a fire and you are not crammed in next to one another. Would definitely recommend

I’ve stayed here three times now, and this time I brought my family. it never disappoints. The property has such a peaceful, freeing atmosphere that instantly helps you unwind. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming, which makes the stay even more special. The views are absolutely breathtaking, and it’s the perfect place to escape from busy city life. Sleeping under the stars here is magical , you won’t find a better spot for it. I loved the outdoor bath under the sky, and the hot showers were a great comfort after a day spent exploring. Being on a working dairy farm added to the charm. Watching the cows and soaking in the quiet rhythm of farm life was so grounding. Their friendly dog, Bailey, even came up last night and sat with me in my swag, such a sweet and comforting moment. To top it off, we made s’mores by the fire, with the smell of wood smoke in the air. It doesn’t get much better than that. Can’t wait to come back again.

Great location if you’re into paddle boarding, kayaking or fishing or like to be around a fantastic variety of birdlife. It’s only a 10min drive to fabulous beaches for swimming, surfing, beach walking and there’s even a great dog beach nearby. The communal veggie garden is wonderful and very generous. Our second time here and we’ll be back!

2 nights at Nerrigundah Tuross River Camping

Was so nice to have this place all to ourselves we were a bit confused with working out that the hot water shower was the first toilet block you pass a of a walk from the campsite not the one at the camp kitchen. We also hired kayaks and bags of wood but we couldn’t work out what wood was ours or how to get access to the kayak so we sadly missed out. Perfect spot just maybe more detailing on the instructions , easy fix !!

Lovely camping in the grassed Paddock, lots of sun, water available and composting toilet which does NoT smell. Nice walk to river and jetty to fish from. SLSC boat full of veggies and herbs and tomotoes growing around the trees. Close to Pambula and other nearby towns. Definitely stay again.

Staying at Norm’s place was nothing short of magical. Set on a beautiful, rolling green hilltop, the farm offers a peaceful retreat with wide-open space perfect for setting up a swag or tent. The highlight? A bath overlooking the hills, with curious cows wandering up to the fence—absolute bliss! Norm and his family were incredibly warm and hospitable, making me feel so welcome from the moment I arrived. The setup was incredibly thoughtful, with everything you could need—clean showers, toilets, access to power, water, and even a fridge. It’s clear a lot of care has gone into creating this special space. I felt so privileged to stay here and be part of such a serene and stunning environment. Thank you, Norm, for sharing your little slice of paradise with the world. I’ll definitely be back.

Amazing location and very private. Jenny & Arthur were extremely accommodating with our dogs which we really appreciated. The camp site its self was clean and very spacious. Loved it! Will definitely be coming back.

We loved our stay at Kangarutha Farm, we had the camp by the dam which was absolutely stunning! Felt like we were miles from everyone, tranquil and beautiful setting with a an awesome sunset. Tom was the perfect host, nothing was a bother. Facilities were immaculately maintained….would definitely recommend a stay :)

Beautiful Coastal farmland near to Mimosa Rocks National Parks. Easy to access. Close to stunning townships of Bermagui just 15mins north and Tathra 30mins south. Observe an abundance of wildlife - spot an eagle, kangaroo, wallaby, possum, goanna, wombat or whale! Surf or swim any of the amazing beaches or lagoons -Bunga, Hidden Valley, Arraganuu, Bithry, Cuttagee, Camel Rock, Horseshoe Bay or Blue Pool. Walk the dog at Beares beach in Bermagui or Cuttagee beach, 10mins drive north. This is an incredible coastline to explore. Enjoy local fresh produce from Bermagui farmers market in summer on Thursday afternoons; Saturday market at Honorbread courtyard; fresh seafood either catch yourself or purchase from Bermagui Fishermans Wharf. There is a little shed on this patch of land and campers have access to an undercover area off the side of the shed plus half of the inside area of the shed not being used for storage. There is a rainwater tank at the back of the shed. A nice, new compost toilet faces into the bush, we no longer use the one at the back of the shed. To locate when heading south on Tathra -Bermagui Rd , Turn left into Hergenhans Rd which is approx 14km south of Bermagui, then left into Wrens Rd (Goalen N Rd on google maps) , follow Wrens Rd about 800m and you'll see a gateway on your right with Hipcamp sign (Bunga Summit). It is opposite gateway on left with Lot 3 sign. The next gate is padlocked where the shed is. To access Bunga Beach, continue along Wrens Rd through neighbouring properties. The road has recently been resurfaced so is now accessible with 2WD. This is National Park so you can't have dogs here. To access Back Bunga Beach continue along Hergenhans Rd and left onto O'sheas Rd which is also a good accessible road. taking you through neighbouring properties and ending at Mimosa Rocks National Park. This is an amazing walk from the carpark south along the beach to Hidden Valley. For dog walking beaches head to Cuttagee just 10mins north towards Bermagui, or Beares Beach in Bermagui. For injured wildlife or any wombats with mange around the campsite please phone my neighbour Sara as she volunteers for Wildlife Rescue South Coast. Sara 0435 614 243 Please be respectful of neighbours and do not fly drones over private property.

Kiah Wilderness Camp

Full privacy with only one group per secluded site. Spacious level grassy campsites on the Towamba River, a pristine estuary that runs into Twofold Bay. 10 minutes on bitumen south of Eden and close to many of the Sapphire Coast's stunning coastline, National Parks and attractions. Site #1 (near) Boatramp has NO facilities so you must be self-contained. Site #2 Main Site offers a composting toilet. Both sites have access to fresh water and are suitable for caravans as well as tents. We are not and never will be a 'caravan park' - your group will have exclusive use of the campsite. Each are far from each other, both are right near to - or very close to - the river. Our guests love the tranquility and not having to share! Fish the river for flathead or bream and enjoy it for dinner by the campfire. Bring your kayak or SUP or just enjoy a swim in the clear sandy-bottom river. Once your booking request has been confirmed, let us know if you need more specific directions so you can find us easily. Well behaved (spoilt) dogs okay but please no hunting type dogs. Both sites have access to separate taps for fresh drinking water. Firewood can be collected from the property or supplied at a small fee (you can book this when you book your site). Enjoy the forest trails here on the property, which take you on a tour to our peaceful back dam. Or explore further afield - our place links to both the Tathra-Kalaru bike track and the Bournda National Park, where you can access the Tathra Mountain Bike Trail Network, as well as the secluded coves along the Kangarutha Walking Track. Our property was home to the former and well-loved businesses 'Kangarutha Nursery', and 'On the Perch Bird Park'. We have been busy re-imagining these spaces. Sapphire Coast Dairy-Homestead

376 hectare operating dairy farm next to Biamanga National Park with access via secret 4WD track to the mountain and 22km to Brogo Dam for bass fishing. 16.5 kms to shopping centre of Bega. & 34 km to Tathra beach. The property has eucalyptus forest, rainforest gullies, fresh mountain water and abundant wildlife include bellbirds and lyrebirds. The campsite is at the original 1908 selection block by the late John Pearce (one of the first settlers in the area) and has extensive views. in dry weather you can get here in 2WD towing a small camper trailer. There is a steep hairpin bend so I do not recommend caravans with 2WD vehicles (4WD vehicle and caravan could handle this). If you have queries regarding access check photos in gallery or please ask me. Flushing toilet on site. Dogs permitted. Good telephone and internet reception. Ideal for flying your new drone.

Nerrigundah Tuross River Camping

Based near Mount Utopia, Nerrigundah, we fell in love with our little sanctuary in 2020. There are two families Dwayne, Michelle, Robbie and Sharon and their four boys Blake, Taeg, Cooper and Flynn. Campers at heart, we started spending nearly every second weekend in our campers and this lead to many a night discussing what else we could do to make this property a place for others to use. It is a work in progress and there is plenty more to come, currently there is a ablution block that is up near the old house site, we decided it was best to have the camp area closer to the river. We have since added a camp kitchen, large undercover area and two cabins (for our own use at this stage). Enjoy direct access to the river plus more swimming areas on the property. Campfires are permitted. There is some firewood on the property but probably best to bring some of your own. There is Telstra service enabling mobile coverage if needed especially for emergencies. 4WDs are recommended to access this campsite. During the rain we recommend 4WD only. In dry you can access with an all wheel drive. Please message us if you're unsure about weather conditions and your vehicle. Our little piece of Utopia is still a work in progress but is picturesque as well as peaceful. Your furry family member is welcome to join you. We hope you enjoy our little Utopia.

Overview

Set on the shores of Boulder Bay in the south coast, Tathra promises campers prime coastal views, sandy beaches, and excellent fishing. This seaside town may be on the smaller side, but the abundance of natural activities and national parks make it a haven for camping. Tathra beachside accommodations vary from rustic campsites for motorhomes to glamping in cosy cabins and safari tents. After a good night’s sleep, zip across the bridge to Mimosa Rocks National Park to scuba dive to shipwrecks and birdwatch along the shoreline before jetting off to Bournda National Park. Spend the day here trekking along the coastline while watching for more local bird species. Beowa National Park highlights even more wildlife, with incredible whale watching from a historical lighthouse.

Where to go

Mimosa Rocks National Park

Just across Bega River sits Mimosa Rocks National Park, only a 10-minute drive from Tathra. Find holiday parks for tents, camper trailers, and caravans in the area with on-site amenities like picnic tables, BBQ facilities, and toilets. Avid divers can wake up and scuba dive to the Paddle Steamer Mimosa, a shipwreck that lays just off the coast, while beginners can swim, snorkel, and fish in Moon Bay or Nelson Lagoon. Take in the picturesque views from a variety of different headlands, and watch for waterfowl along the shoreline year-round.

Bournda National Park

Found 15 minutes south of Tathra, Bournda National Park abounds with outdoor activities. Kayak the Bournda Lagoon or the waters of Wallagoot Lake before sauntering down Sandy Creek loop track, then keep an eye on the trees for native bird species while walking. Bournda campgrounds welcome swags, tents, camper trailers, and campervans with a range of facilities and amenity blocks with flush toilets, showers, and BBQ areas.

Beowa National Park

The stunning rocky coastline of Beowa National Park sits an hour and a half from Tathra. Take on Boyds Tower walking track, a favourite for beginners, or conquer the multi-day Light to Light walk for experts. History buffs can check out Green Cape Lighthouse, where wildlife watchers can also scan the seas for migrating whales. Campgrounds in the park offer basic amenities, but there are more luxurious accommodations available too. Take a break from the tent and get pampered in a bunkhouse or heated cottage vacation rental with bathrooms, fully equipped kitchens, and fresh linens.

When to go

Every season in Tathra offers something special, which makes it a first-rate choice for year-round camping trips. Feathered friends flock to Mimosa Rocks National Park throughout the year, and if whale watching is top priority, plan to visit in spring between September and November. The hot and humid summers that last from December until March are an ideal time for beach lounging and exploring the waterways in Bournda National Park. Campgrounds will be at peak capacity in summer, so plan ahead and reserve a pitch when possible.
