If you bring your kayaks, canoe or roof top tinny the river is very picturesque with unique photo opportunities and an abundance of wildlife. You can head upstream for a way but if you're feeling up to it, it's about a 2.5-hour paddle (at a slow steady pace) to the mouth of the river where Davidsons whaling station is located, as well as the view across the bay to Eden. If you time it right, you can go and return with the tide. Two kayaks and life jackets are provided with all bookings so that people without their own equipment are able to explore the pristine waterway. There is a large firepit near the river that may be utilized as long as there is no total fire ban in effect.
