Port Macquarie is known for its beautiful beaches, coastal scenery and walks, koala hospital, local strawberry and tomato picking, and 4WDing at nearby beaches and through Cairncross State Forest. Bernard and Susan are custodians of the farm, primarily using the land for poultry (egg), pig, and goat farming. They are transitioning to an off-grid and eco-friendly lifestyle for their retirement. The Hatch Farm is home to many animals, most of whom are rescues - including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, miniature horses, cows, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. There is plenty to do and see around the farm from complete relaxation, interacting with the friendly animals (there is usually a variety of babies to cuddle!), to casting a line or launching your boat from the rustic boat ramp. If you want to avoid the crowds our property is only 10 minutes drive to great local surf and fishing beaches at Crescent Head. There is an abundance of bird life, the odd kangaroos and wallabies, and other wildlife. There is a melaleuca forest that children are welcome to play in and build a cubby house, and 2 pretty little dams to catch yabbies, and for dogs to enjoy a swim. The property where camping is provided is approx 20 acres with a limit of 10 groups so you can find your own little piece of paradise. There is plenty of fire wood for you to collect on the property on your way in. Please help yourself to any fallen timber for firewood but please do not cut any standing trees down. When checking out, ensure you properly extinguish fires and return any unused firewood to the bush. Dogs are welcome to be here off leash as long as they are well socialised and reasonably obedient. There is large areas for them to run freely and dams to swim in. It is accessible via a 2WD dirt road, even with a little wet weather. If rainfall is extreme we recommend 4wd's. The property is completely off grid so we have a 'leave it as you found it' approach. This means you will need a camp toilet, and to take all of your rubbish with you. THE HISTORY OF OUR PLACE as we know it: The Biripi people were the original and will always be the landowners of this area. They spent their summers on the mountain, while their winters were beside the coast. We are told, this area was once a women's only area, where they would bath and give birth. We respect those past and present who took care of this land and lived amongst it. This is Biripi country. Sometime after this, some people took over the land, and then offered it to others. Then cut trees down to build with, and put cows on it for over 80 years.. then we were offered it! And here we are today.... US: We LOVE hosting people, as we literally LOVE sharing this place with others. It’s part of who we are, but also a huge part of our bigger picture, in getting people re connected with Nature, so much so, that they want to protect it. Plus it’s so damn pretty here, all year around! You Camp/Hipcamp has been a driving force as to why we have had so many guests find us, and ultimately stay with us (along with some help from our insta #teretulemastelands blogs & workaway/helpx). But if you are wondering why people would visit, I'll do my best to summarise: • 400 metre walk from our RIVER flat to the famous Ellenborough Falls (famous for being the longest consistent drop in the southern hemisphere - hows that for on the map?) • All sites have access to the river with a short walk, or a tiny walk. Most are sitting on the famous Ellenborough River. • The Penthouse spot of sites is our River Flat. With it's hot shower, 2 composting toilets (still fully off grid), outdoor bbq/kitchen, gas & combustion stove & bar in shed (with solar lighting & fridge). PLUS A MTB PUMP TRACK! ALL PART of what you get when you book it! • The Ellenborough river is gorgeous & fresh, so paddling, floating, swimming, drinking and generally lounging around in it, is welcomed! And the locals often hang out together at the falls (where there are even deeper water holes) and the local made famous The Rapids (8 min drive away). *we will show you once you get here! bYO drinks and floaties! • ALL sites can accommodate reasonably large groups, SERENITY and RIVER FLAT can cater to around 100 OR more if you wanted them to. 2 composting toilets on these sites. (so toilets will be the main limiting factor for a super large group). • We book out each site ‘exclusively’, so only you, your mates and family will be sleeping next to each other. Which is why we have a min rate, versus a per person rate. And why most sites include from 8 people up to 15 people within their min rate. Pretty awesome deal when you divide by that! • Many sites are 4x4 caravan friendly (need good approach and departure angles), and yes, you don’t need to reverse them in, you drive them through making them easy to stop, enjoy your space and get out again! • Local sites are a plenty, whether that is go for a walk to see the falls, OR it’s a rainy day and you take a 45 min trek deeper into the Gondwana belt, where the big trees live, the turquoise water begins, and the Koalas, and Greater Gliders still live (so long as we can keep those pesky loggers away). • Most of our sites have had their roads upgraded, but some like Between the Trees can be a little more ‘4x4’ only. So always ask us if unsure. • YES we allow you to bring your furry friends! 😊. (aka dog friendly stay) • YES we are perfect for the newbie Mountain Biker or those who like a speedy downhill (blue rated), as we also have a Flow Trail AND a pump track available (great for groms and codjers). NOTE: the pump track is only for those who book the River flat at this stage. Unless you're good at making friends with those staying there, bring a beer maybe.. and you can ask them if you can ride it? • Fire pits on most sites • FARM mornings are FREE – just ask us when you arrive! 😊. (cows, sometimes we are milking, goats, baby animals, chickens, a mini mule (Olaf), pigs & we have 4 can be noisy dogs upon arrival). Love some kids to help or just to pat a baby goat! • Need fire wood, or eggs, we sell so just ask. 😊. • Don’t have camping gear, well lucky you! We’re located opposite Rawdon Creek Nature Reserve with pristine waterways to explore. Free use of large 3 man canoe and high tide ramp available for small boats. WE ONLY ALLOW CARAVANS, MOTORHOMES or CAMPER TRAILERS and you must have a working toilet. Tent only, or small camper vans not permitted. Your friendly dog is welcome, please don't bring other dogs! Site 1 has a large undercover camp kitchen with gas BBQ, good drinking water, 12v lighting. The best site to have, when the weather isn't great. Additional small vehicle allowed on some sites, please contact. The last 3 klm of road to the farm is a council maintained gravel road usually in good condition. Weekend Trip to Bundilla River Camp

We stayed at Site 2, which is a powered site. It was spacious and serene. Loved being able to have a campfire all throughout the stay. We all had a great time in the river, swimming, kayaking and just relaxing. Cheryl went out of her way to set up a Christmas are for the kids with some farm animals. Overall a great stay and definitely recommended.

Beautiful place to camp, my kids absolutely loved feeding and interacting with all the animals on the farm tour and kayaking down at the river, its so nice that there is play equipment for them as well ! We will definitely be back 🥰

100% recommend, we have been to a lot of hipcamps and this one takes the top spot! Place was beautiful, river was fantastic, and the hosts were so nice, my daughter loved the farm tours she wouldn’t stop talking about it! You will not be disappointed !

Had a wonderful 4 nights at Rick and Cheryl’s Hipcamp. Definitely put this one on your list. They were amazing hosts, delivered firewood and fresh eggs to us that you can order. The creek was awesome, toilet’s immaculate ( I was a little afraid to go knowing they were drop toilets, and oh boy, wasn’t I pleasantly surprised) They have bikes, kayaks, pizza oven, campfire pits all available for guests to use. Our son loved the animal feeding in the afternoon. This place is a little gem and the price wow!!! We will definitely be coming back. Thanks so much for having us 😊

Loved this campsite it was clean and tidy, the swimming was wonderful if you wanted something deeper we just followed the walking trail down which was sign posted. Rick and Cheryls information was super informative and made finding the place super easy, would stay again :)

The campground is great. Nice grassed big sites, giving you plenty of room. The river is great for swimming kayaking or just laying around in. The farm animal tour is also great for the whole family not just the kids. The owners are very accommodating. I will definitely be going back.

Weekend Trip to Fernbank Creek - Port Macquarie

We loved staying here with our campervan. We have a large dog who was able to have some long lead freedom. It was lovely and private whilst still being on someone’s property, very private and quiet. Loved waking up to the birds chirping in the trees around us. Felt very safe. Plus we had internet which was handy for a cooler night in the van with a movie, all windows were open with a beautiful breeze.

Perfect, you could not find a better campsite. Rick & Cheryl are the most accommodating hosts and take good care. The site offers heeps of space to relax and enjoy or adventure. Kayaking the river, a pizza oven, and additional extras when available eggs, honey, washing, firewood and farm viewing. An absolutely amazing place, highly recommend for everyone looking to relax and enjoy the quiet scenery.

1 night at Riverside Camping - Long Flat Pub

We were camping at Long Flat as part of Muster during extreme heat - the river was our salvation. Perfect tempurature for October, steady current, small rapids for the adventureous. The pub is a small treasure with great meals if you dont feel like cooking. You need to be self contained but there is a loo available while the pub is open or clean Council toilets right next door to the pub but it is a fair hike up the hill to get there.

Great spot for overnight when travelling. Easy to get off and back on the freeway plus a service station as you drive out to fill up. A quiet spot. Amenities are adequate but don’t expect luxury. Thanks Wayne, a good stopover.

What is not to love about Scott’s place. We spent 5 great nights here and would highly recommend it to anyone who wants peace and tranquility with water views. Scott was a great host who went above and beyond to make his place one of the best places we have been to.

A wonderful place to stay. Lush green very well maintained area close to the river. Shady trees nearby especially near camp site4.Ample room between campers. The hosts Scott and Marg welcomed us to their land. Instructions were very clear and we had no trouble finding our way. All in all… fabulous!!
