Artisans Park is a farm set on top of a mountain which is sometimes windy sometimes snowing and being a farm we have animals and spiders and everything that nature includes note we can not control the weather or nature, there are no local coffee shops, we are not connected to the electricity.
This is a camping site and our stays are like camping all heating is wood hot water is gas and lights are solar, No TV no power points no fancy appliances.
If you like camping and staying in something unique Artisans Park is the place for you, If you want a luxurious five star stay we are defiantly not the place our stays are basic and clean.
1949 London Bus, WW2 Army Tower, 1885 Trig Hut
Artisans Park is located 45 minutes from Bathurst and is the closest city for food and fuel. We do not have local shops or fuel stations.
The London bus is suitable for children as the upper deck houses the bedroom. The lower deck houses the kitchen and bathroom with a front deck complete with barbecue and amazing views.
Relax and watch the kangaroos and eagles from your private deck. Summer swimming in the crystal clear river and winter camp fires where you can toast marshmallows.
The lower level has a cooktop "no oven or fridge share fridge at entrance of park", outside gas BBQ and tables. You will need to bring your own drinking water.
There is a toilet and shower downstairs.
The top deck has two small single beds and one double, quilts and pillows however BYO linen sheets and towels.
This bus has featured on many TV shows and is often featured
in travel magazines, including
on Better Homes and Gardens television in 2013 and in many magazines shoots.
No pets please. once again no pets including dogs.

This campsite is located amongst rolling green hills, with some campsites having frontage on the creek and access to the Turon River nearby. Laze around by the creek on hot days and relax in the lush shade.
This campsite suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water supply. Some campsites will require 4WD.
Enjoy camping, walking, nature walks, gold fossicking and detecting, bird watching, fishing and swimming in the nearby Turon river. This is a great place for general camping activities and family fun in a mostly private campsite, in the ruggedly peaceful and quiet Australian countryside.

In the early 1970’s Mr James, the owner of 'Biara', subdivided three 25 acre blocks across the road from the original homestead. The first block was sold to his nephew, the middle block was to be purchased by the Preston family and ‘The Gateway’ was purchased by a Mr Carveth.
Unfortunately, the sale of the middle block fell through then, due to family illness, 'Biara' was sold and the family moved to Blackheath. After this move, and as thank you to his son, Mr James transferred the title of the middle of the three subdivided blocks to his only son, William.
Back in the late 1960’s, early 1970’s, the area was vastly different than it is today. Travelling to school entailed a car trip to Hargraves then bus to Mudgee which would have been a 2 hour round trip! The area was far more isolated as there was no power and entailed an overland phone line, which had to be regularly repaired if residents wanted to be able to communicate with the outside world.
The site allows mainly for camping and relaxing although there are numerous dirt roads to explore, Mudgee wineries close by and Burrendong Dam not far away (accessible via Hill End Road near Erudgere). Hargraves is also known for it's alluvial gold deposits and fossickers still go there regularly to check out Louisa Creek.
There is 15km's of dirt road which needs to be traveled to reach the property. Dependent on weather, and if it has been graded recently, this road can be in varying states of repair. In heavy rain it may be difficult to get 2WD access via the public road due to the clay content in the road .
Kangaroo, wallaby, owl species, kookaburra, echidna, snakes, various lizards, including shinglebacks, are often seen on these roads and the property.

I had the most incredible stay! From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded expectations. The view alone was worth the trip – the kind that makes you stop in your tracks and just breathe it all in. Sunrise, sunset, even the quiet moments in between… every angle felt like a postcard.
Our host was absolutely outstanding. Warm, thoughtful, and genuinely passionate about making our stay perfect. Every little detail was considered, and their recommendations made the experience even better.

We had another great stay at Home Base. It’s very peaceful and such a great place to relax. Plenty of shelter and love the forge for camp fire cooking. Recommend staying here. Stop at the little shop at Hargraves on the way in. The pies are delicious.

We stayed at site 8. The boat was great - called ahead of time and met us at the gate to show us to the camp site, very friendly bloke. Camp site was very private, we stayed on the October long weekend and didn't see anyone else (can sort of see the neighbours, but +200m away through trees). Site was quite large and next to the creek. Creek was flowing, deep enough for a quick dip but not to deep enough to swim in. You will want a 4WD/SUV to get to the site.

We stayed in the London bus over the weekend and absolutely loved it! Such a unique, fun, and unforgettable experience with the kids they enjoyed every bit of it. Relaxing, calm and plenty of space to explore - You have acres and acres for yourself. The view was amazing, with lovely sunset and sunrise... and breathtaking stargazing.
There were a few dirt bikes which we were not really excited about but amazingly they were very thoughtful and respectful when riding near by and slow down to limit noise (we only heard them for about one hour a day in total).
Our dogs were free to roam which was really nice for them and us.
