The campsites are situated right on the bank of the mighty Clarence River, perfectly suited for campers who enjoy the peace and quiet. Please note: Our sites are available for booking up to 3 months in advance. Our property is inhabited by a few cattle and kangaroos and on occasions a couple of visiting brolgas. The private boat ramp is accessible at the main house which is about 100 metres from your campsite. You are welcome to make use of our canoe or kayak which are kept up at the main house. Pets are welcome but must be kept under control. Campfires are allowed permitting there are no restrictions in place. Each campsite has it's own firepit surround in which to light your camp fire. Firewood is available for purchase. Campers must bring their own toilet and be fully self sufficient. Leave the site as you found it and take all waste with you on departure. This was our second stay at river side rest we really enjoyed the propertt on our first visit so we decided to return. The property is very green and well kept. There is an abundance of wildlife on the river and on the property with kangaroos visiting every afternoon pelicans on the water and fishing in front of your camp. Fire pits ate provided and well priced firewood and ice available at the house. In all a very piecefull and relaxing atomsphere.

Janine was super friendly and accomodating. The place is beautiful, it has large flat sites and I think is a very reasonable price for power and water. Quiet mid week with just two other campers there. Trains do go past across the road through the night, but I just shut my window on that side and it didn't bother me.

Greg, the owner of the farm, is such a lovely person, he made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. He even took us in his car to see the mountain and the cows, and he was incredibly hospitable and attentive throughout our stay. We had a wonderful night, with incredible views and so much peace. I highly recommend and hope to return when next in that part of AUS! A slice of paradise next to a beautiful flowing creek and deep swim hole. Easy to get to and owner showed us to the spot which was perfectly flat. We had the place to ourselves and it was pure magic having a dip. There is a road and concrete bridge close by and in view but it didn’t bother us as it was opposite direction to the view of the creek and not too many cars. We would definitely return in the future.

Caralyn’s directions to site were great. Site 1R, the whole area along the creek, was beautiful on levelish well maintained grass you could walk barefoot on. 1R had a mixture of shade and sun in the morning. Alongside site is a sterdy deck with table & chairs. There was direct access to creek for a wade/sit on a rock, refreshing on a hot day. A large industrial bin was available. It was a relaxing place to unwind and spot a variety of bird life. Certainly had a restful time and felt safe. Loved the fairy lights on the tree💜

Just what we needed! 3 nights at this peaceful little camp right on the banks of the crystal clear rushing creek and a stunning swimming hole. We had special visits from a platypus each afternoon. Everything was well maintained. Campsites are not close together and a bonus is there is only 3 sites so definitely no crowding. We are already planning our next trip back!

I have come to love the Bungawalbin and have formed a very real bond with the whole area and have learnt so much in the journey. Like most parts of the East Coast the land has been badly managed since European invasion in the way of logging, grazing, farming and burning practices that have degraded the diversity of what was once possibly the most diverse part of Australia. The bush is resilient but there is a limit to what it can withstand and I fear this precious wetlands is disappearing fast. 5 years ago bushfires devastated the whole forest leaving very little undamaged and it is still struggling to recover. Then catastrophic flooding in 2022 destroyed the homestead. The property offers spacious, private campsites in a natural and tranquil setting. Bush walking and birdwatching are a must, or just relaxing by the billabong may reward you with a wildlife encounter. More than welcome to bring hiking shoes, mountain bikes to go explore. As long as you respect the farm rules and if the gate is shut you shut it behind you. No 4wding is permitted on the farm. Animal feeding is an activity we provide with food available to buy for the animals. I moved here from Sydney in 1987. In that time I have seen many changes. I have come to love the Bungawalbin and have formed a very real bond with the whole area and have learnt so much in the journey. Like most parts of the East Coast the land has been badly managed since European invasion in the way of logging, grazing, farming and burning practices that have degraded the diversity of what was once possibly the most diverse part of Australia. The bush is resilient but there is a limit to what it can withstand and I fear this precious wetlands is disappearing fast. 5 years ago bushfires devastated the whole forest leaving very little undamaged and it is still struggling to recover. Then catastrophic flooding in 2022 destroyed the homestead. The property offers spacious, private campsites in a natural and tranquil setting. Bush walking and birdwatching are a must, or just relaxing by the billabong may reward you with a wildlife encounter. We offer you a well located and secure camp-site to explore the North Coast or for that overnight stay while you are travelling to your destination and need a safe place to camp. Our four campsites are spacious and are freshly mown flat grassed sites. Each campsite has 1 or 2 stone circles for campfires, with free kindling and free firewood supplied to all campsites. Whether you are a single traveller, a couple, family or group booking we have the campsite for you. We are family friendly and dog friendly. Dungarubba Fields is a private, rural setting on six acres on Bundjalung country. Four of our camp sites are situated across a small bridge in the back paddock, and one camp site is situated just before the bridge for those self driving campervans with a wider wheel-base. The paddock was once cleared and in recent years we have planted and cared for over 100 new Koala and rainforest trees. After the Northern Rivers floods of 2022 we are now continuing the bush regeneration beside the Dungarubba wetland which borders our property. Our camp-sites offer shade, space, wildlife and birdlife. Campfires are allowed 12 months a year depending on fire ratings and local conditions except on days of Total Fire Ban and the preceding evening going into a Total Fire Ban. We supply the free firewood to each campsite as we understand how important the campfire is to the camping experience. Outside the fire season we can supply a readymade Bonfire at an additional cost to your booking. Hipcampers can access fresh drinking water (rainwater) from our rainwater tanks, with an accessible tap near our home. Hipcampers have access to a downstairs flushing toilet at the house. We offer a Portaloo for larger group bookings situated beside your camp site as an optional extra for an additional cost. The Portaloo needs to be booked when you make your booking. The house on the property was originally built in 1903 as the Catholic Church of the nearby locality Riley's Hill. In the 1940’s it was moved to the current site after low attendance by parishioners who didn’t want to have to row across the Richmond River and get their feet wet to attend Mass. The church sold the building in the 1980’s and it was raised off the ground with two new wings attached on either side to become a private residence. The sugar cane and soybeans, however more surrounding land is being planted to Macadamia nuts which will change the look of the landscape in future. During May to November of an evening, you can look out for the occasional cane fire which is a historic part of the harvesting of sugar. The Richmond River and boat ramp is a short 2 minutes drive for both fishing and water skiing. The Broadwater National Park with sand-dunes and a fishing beach is only a 10 minute drive away. The Pacific Highway is 7 minutes drive away. The beautiful coastal village of Evans Head with shops, a medical clinic and a patrolled beach is just a 15 minutes drive. The nearest townships are Broadwater (2 fuel stations and a pub under new management), Coraki (junction of 2 rivers), Woodburn (pub with a bistro and a laundrette) and Evans Head (a township with most services). We are a 45 minutes drive to Byron Bay and 25 minutes to the coastal city of Ballina up the Pacific Highway or 25 minutes drive inland to the city of Lismore. We welcome friendly dogs and there is plenty of space for them to run around and chase balls or other dogs. Our dog Stella is a 4 year old Blue Heeler, who greets people from the balcony barking as you drive in. Don’t let the barking fool you as she loves visitors and their dogs. We expect owners to be responsible for their dogs and in particularly when there are Koalas close by. We ask dogs not to roam at night as Koalas are nocturnal (and so are other critters) and night-time is when they choose their food tree for the next day and roam around. Approximately 20mins drive to Brunswick heads surfing beaches or Byron surfing beaches. National parks for hiking or horse riding within 20mins drive. Can accommodate 2 horses in paddocks ($10per horse per night.) and parking space for horse float should you wish to bring your horses and enjoy some trails or beach riding in the area, I can give more information on places to ride on request. other activities that can be booked at additional cost include Didgeridoo Making workshops for adults and didgeridoo painting workshops for kids. this is a full day activity for adults and a half day activity for kids doing didgeridoo painting workshops. please enquire for more info and prices. 170 acres of lush flats and rolling hills located on the NSW North Coast is Highland Cow Farm. It is home to a range of beef cattle breeds including Scottish Highlanders who love to be fed carrots, Dexter, miniature black Galloways, and Belted Galloways, or, all known collectively as the pets. The property is located close to Nimbin and Lismore and less than an hour to Byron, Ballina, and several National Parks. It's a relaxing, convenient base camp from which to explore this beautiful region. The farm has lots of walks across flats and up hills for amazing views. You can be as active or as still as you like here. you can choose from several lovely spots in the paddocks to set up camp. Dont forget to bring carrots to feed Ruby, the Highland cow or Brownie the bull. Mooka our old charolais loves a cuddle while she is being fed carrots. Hi, an update: please note that due to roadworks in Mullumbimby, the Council is diverting southbound traffic out of that town along Myocum Rd, thus there will be increased traffic at commute times. Your campsite is on a grassy knoll of Myocum Farm with sweeping views of farmland and the Byron lighthouse in the distance. You will be the sole visitors and thus have all the space and amenities to yourself. Your onsite amenities include: a firepit with benches and table, bbq plates, free kindling, firewood available to buy, a hot private outdoor shower, your own flushing toilet, a tap and handsoap, a bucket and hose, bins for recycling and rubbish, a swing, and a small cubbyhut with board games and a bocce and cricket set. Please note our rates are very competitive and cover 3 visitors in our base rate. During your stay you can just kick back and relax overlooking the farm which produces beef cattle and fingerlimes, but with the convenient distance to towns and beaches, you can also use it as a base to very easily explore all the region has to offer: Byron Bay and Bangalow (15 mins), Brunswick Heads (10 mins), and Mullumbimby (6 mins), all offering great dining, local market, and retail experiences. the area has a plethora of activities to pursue: swimming, walking, fishing, great surfing, sea kayaking, ballooning, skydiving, horseriding, golf (eg renowned Ocean Shores golf club is 20 minutes away), and the wonderful rail trail for bikers or walkers can be accessed at Mooball, a picturesque 20 min drive away or try out the new mountain bike trail at the vey pretty township of Uki in the hinterland. Beautiful waterfalls are less than a half hour drive away. There are local businesses who can help you pursue these kinds of activities if you don't bring your own equipment.
