Nestled right up against the escarpment at an elevation of 450m, this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround. It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views. As of September 2025, many of the trails on the property have been degraded by the rains and are now challenging for 2WD cars. If you're towing or it's wet we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles. Since this is coastal rainforest and it has been very wet, expect leeches anywhere it is damp. These are easily kept at bay with deet and or trousers tucked into socks. We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. The land itself does most of the heavy lifting but also personal service and of course there's Lana to fall in love with. Note, Mellows Rd is 2.6km long and rises 400m - in parts the road is a 15 degree grade. It's all paved but narrow so if you are towing a large heavy load, it's going to strain your car.

Elouera Vale is a working farm located just outside Mittagong NSW. We breed and train camels for sale, especially into the Southern Highlands. Camels are excellent for weed control and co-grazing with cattle. 'Elouera Vale' also breeds Belted Galloway cattle, Dorper and Wiltipol sheep and donkeys. Our property covers over 140 acres, 80 acres cleared and pasture improved and the rest consisting of forest. The Chain O Ponds creek runs through the property and makes for a lovely walk. You will probably get to see kangaroo, wallaby, wombats, echidnas, koalas and lots of bird life. The lush green hills abound with walking and cycling trails. You can head to the spectacular Nattai Gorge via the Box Vale Mine walking track, an easy 4.4km circular walk that follows an old railway line through a tunnel to breath-taking views. Enjoy a picnic in the magnificent Lake Alexandra Reserve or hike up extinct volcanic peak Mount Gibraltar. The region’s rich soil and high altitude are ideal for cool-climate wine growing. Visit cellar doors in the hills and valleys around Mittagong, including Centennial Vineyards. Enjoy a pleasant wine tasting experience at Centennial (don’t forget to mention us). The Camel Cottage offers a luxe off-the-grid escape for couples just one hour from Sydney but feels like "miles from anywhere". The Gums Cottage is a fully contained, off-grid modern getaway, surrounded by the magnificent white gum trees that are its namesake. The tiny house is surrounded by beautiful native trees and plants and the grassed area in front of the deck features a gorgeous fire pit with seating. A historic little rustic outhouse houses extra firewood. Some board games, playing cards and books are provided as well as outdoor games like Finska, croquet, grip ball, boule and ring toss. Access to the properties back paddock is through a gate and there you will be surrounded by beautiful vistas and a creek at the bottom. There is an abundance of birds and wildlife for you to enjoy and view. Regular visitors include wallabies, bush turkeys, turtles, cockatoos, ducks and many other birds. There is a 'home made' grass tennis court and rackets and a few balls are provided but feel free to bring your own. For the adventurous, the creek has a log bridge which accesses the far side featuring a wild and luscious rainforest area.

Weekend Trip to Mellows Ridge

I stayed in the beautiful Bell Tent at Mellows Ridge and absolutely loved it. The setting is incredible, surrounded by tall trees, birdlife, rocky outcrops, and stunning views. It’s so peaceful, with plenty of wildlife around. I even spotted a diamond python and echidnas! The Bell Tent itself was spacious and luxurious, with lights, music, power, and a private toilet - everything you could need. Enjoying delicious wood-fired pizza and wine in the hot tub overlooking the valley was just perfect. My dog had the best time too and even made a new friend, Lana (Ian’s lovely dog), who took us on a tour to the waterfall! Sitting by the campfire listening to the birds was so relaxing. It feels wonderfully secluded yet it’s just a short drive from town. The customer service was exceptional - having a strong coffee delivered at 7am was amazing. I really didn’t have to bring a thing. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for peace, comfort, and a touch of luxury in nature.

Stayed for 2 nights on the weekend with the family, it was lovely and my girls had the best time. The tent was spacious & clean. The host made the space very aesthetic and cozy. And out stay comfortable There was Double bed and 2 single bed all with beddings, pillows and duvet covers perfect for family of 4 or any group of 4. Everything needed for camping is there, Bbq, fridge, kettle toaster, so really we only need to bring some change clothes. The host also prepared some torches for my girls, lantern and spare batteries incase we need them, very thoughtful :) And there’s a beautiful river nearby which was lovely for water play, quick dip, or just simply enjoy the nature . There’s also some beautiful pools with waterfalls cascades that require abit of hike 15-20 mins, we chose not to go because we have a 4yo with us. The highlights for my daughters was the farm animals, Melissa lets them join in every feeding while we were there - lots of animals feeding & patting time, it was truly an experience for them. This place is truly gems! Only abt 1 hour from Sydney But feels secluded & private, shops are only 5 mins drive from the property. Its the easiest most convenient camping experience you’d have! Highly recommended! We will be back for sure

Our family trip to riverside glamping was fantastic. In the tent everything was neat and pretty with a welcome treat, and Melissa was super helpful and made sure we had no issues. Kids loved feeding the animals, and we even explored few of the recommended places that was mentioned in the file at the tent. The view from the tent is amazing, and wake up mornings with many different bird songs.

The tent is set up in a beautiful location with a view on the campfire and the gorge. But most of all our family loved the pygmy goats. It was so great to be able to pet, hug and play with them all day long. The host display super hospitality, when the next guests canceled we were allowed to do a very late check out, basically getting another day at the farm. Thanks so much!

Weekend Trip to Webbs Creek Pristine Wilderness

We had a wonderful time staying in the chalet. The Hip Camp description is spot on, and the chalet itself is functional, but contains exactly what you need. Comfortable beds (single and bunks) with clean bedding and towels. Functional kitchen that facilitates cooking for large groups (11ppl in our case). A fun adventure arriving via ferry and suspension bridge, do make sure you follow the well written directions exactly, to avoid getting lost! Expansive grounds, that can clearly host a lot more people if you also take the camping area. There is lots of exploring to be done, bush walks, hills and a river. I’d really recommend if you’re after an easy group or family adventure, with close access to Sydney. Thank you Lynda, we’ll come again!

We had fun making friends with the goats and the location was handy for a lazy weekend away. This camping spot is set in the stunning bushland along the Bargo River. Surrounded by lush greenery and the soothing sounds of nature and the river, made for a perfect escape. The goats and alpacas added an extra layer of charm to the experience and the short walk down to the river made it feel even more special. The tent is cozy and comfortable, and the toilet and shower are just a short walk away, Having access to hot water and electricity only a stones throw away was an extra bonus! it was the ideal blend of nature and convenience. Our wonderful hosts were attentive and welcoming, and the location was conveniently close to town for any supplies we needed. This glamping experience is a perfect getaway for anyone looking to relax and connect with nature with the camping experience, and without having to pitch a tent or sleep on the ground! We will definitely be back again! Thank you

This was such a great place to spend the weekend. Everything we needed was there and Ben and Melissa were so helpful. It is located conveniently close to town with plenty of things to do nearby. Our kids loved the animals and the fire pit. Our hosts even set up soccer goals for our soccer loving son. We absolutely recommend and will be back to enjoy the river in warmer weather.

The Bell Tent was amazing! We enjoyed every single minute of it and the hosts were very accommodating and welcoming. The pizza was very delicious and sitting by the firepit drinking our complementary beers kept us warm on a cool night. The Bell Tent was also stacked with a power bank and Apple home pod which kept us entertained. Overall, we would highly recommend!

We had the absolute best time!! I went with my partner for a night as a getaway from busy Sydney and this hipcamp exceeded our expectations. Ian is so hospitable, so much so that he even gave us a backpack and a lunchbox to go hiking with. He was constantly going out of his way to ensure we had the best possible experience.
