100 acres of secluded paradise with a kilometer of free flowing pebbled creek. Bound on two sides by the craggy escarpments of the Budgong and Morton National Parks there is ample grassland to give a feeling of space yet an abundance of trees to wander through as you engage with the tame wildlife and magnificent birdlife. Bring your mountain bike, fishing rod, swimmers, hiking boots, tennis racket, basketball (a hoop on the tennis court) or climbing gear and leave the kids in the play area while you sit by the creek and listen to the water tumbling through the rocks. If you are as intrigued by rare animals as we are, then this is the place for you. 63 Bird species, 24 mammals, 16 reptiles, and 12 amphibians have been sighted in the area (Clarke 2012) and this includes many rare and endangered species including the platypus, brush-tailed rock wallaby, Giant burrowing frog, Gang-gang cockatoo, Glossy black-cockatoo, Koala, Little Lorikeet and the Yellow-bellied glider. We only have three campsites at present, so you will be guaranteed peace, space and privacy. with a minimum of 400m between all sites. Please note, that your group must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, however fresh drinking water is available. Access is into a valley on a well maintained unsealed road but there are some minor causeways making it unsuitable for busses or long low slung vans. An ordinary sedan will do for Billabong and Dad's camp sites but you will need some power for towing and a 4x4 to tow out in any rain. Riverbend site is only suitable for 4x4's and off-road camp trailers. It was a beautifully spacious place for our two pups to run around freely, as the property was fenced (if not the individual camping areas). The vibe was quiet and calm - exactly what we wanted for our first time ever camping as a family. Jacqui was very responsive to any queries, and replied quickly over the app.

We loved our stay at in both the barn room and shipping containers. Clean and well equipped kitchen and shared bathroom. Scenic with great views and surrounds. Even with a group of campers in tents sharing the facilities it worked out well. Family friendly.

One of our favorite camp spots to date! Private sites, right in with nature and plenty of wombats on the property. The tub at our site was an added bonus. Val was a super welcoming and generous host. Recommend the eggs from his daughter’s chickens. Would definitely go back

Lovely spot on a beautiful landscape; just the quiet escaped that we needed. The grass was nicely mown on arrival and enjoyed all the additional blankets to keep warm.

I recently stayed at the Wombat Hollows, Riverbend campsite and it was a great experience! The directions were clear, Vallance was very kind & always ready to help during our stay. The location is beautiful, right on a peaceful river. The campsite is clean and well-spaced, offering plenty of privacy. They are also dog friendly, which is great. If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway close to nature, Wombat Hollows is a top choice. Just make sure to bring bug spray and reserve early during peak season!

What a fantastic stay we had! Vallance was extremely helpful in the lead up to our trip with instructions and upon arrival greeted us with a tractor ride for the kids (adult too 😅)which they loved! The site was large and well kept, the fire tub was divine. There was plenty for the kids to do from bike rides, swims, adventures , the cubby house, swing and the new addition of the sandpit! We wish we had stayed longer, but we will be back!! Thank you again Vallance.

Weekend Trip to Shepherds Rest

My family, our dog and some close friends drove down from Sydney to Shepherds Rest for a nice long weekend get away, and honestly aside from the wind deciding it wanted to party - it was such a beautiful area. The local fauna gave a symphony of sounds to wake up to, along side the crisp, fresh air. Jacqui’s property has a communal area with a cozy kitchen, clean bathroom space, seated bbq space and fire pits. Jacqui is a super wholesome and lovely host, who is more than willing to try and help out for anything you need, we were greeted by her and her little shadow Brookie, a cattle dog who just wants to love you and check in on you. If you’re wondering if Shepherd’s rest is worth the visit (or the drive, if you’re from Sydney) I can with confidence 100% say for certain. Just make sure to pack for the weather in the cooler months, cause it can get really cold of a night time. Thanks again for having us, Jacqui. :)

Shepherd's Rest is a magic little spot. We stayed in the Barn Room and it was so comfortable and cozy... Not that we were in it much! The property and amenities are awesome, so much secure space for the kids to roam, a beautiful bathroom (love the bath) and gorgeous little kitchen. The animals are very curious and friendly (especially Squashy the llama!) and our dog got on really well with Jacqui's own sweet doggo. Jacqui was an exceptional host, so friendly, helpful and accommodating. We can't wait to plan our next trip back!

Our family had an amazing time camping at Wombat Hollow. This was our second visit and whilst we could not set up at the actual camp site due to flooding, Vallance was very accommodating and found us a new site which had amazing views. We loved the fresh eggs brought up by his young daughter and our toddler loved the buggy ride with Vallance. Thanks again, we'll be back.
