We had an incredible stay, made even more special by the wonderful, welcoming hosts — such a beautiful family who truly set the tone for the experience.
Watching the sun set over the mountain on New Year’s Eve was magical and the perfect way to welcome the new year.
Even though the landscape was very dry and the creek was low during our visit (the rain gods are definitely needed!), the beauty, peace, and atmosphere of this place still shone through. A truly special spot filled with warmth, care, and soul — we would love to return.

Camping at Critterland was great. Was with another couple and secured a spot on the banks of the river, which whilst wasn’t running was good location for us to get away together. Toilet block was very clean - flushable toilet. Well spaced between guests. Just 20mins inland from Nabiac -easy drive. Paul & his family are so welcoming.

This place is so clean and well maintained, we were very impressed! Great spot with good amenities and very well maintained: bathrooms were spotless all day every day, pool was clean and maintained daily, roads are all paved an in good condition, all the sites are well maintained and well positioned. Loved it! Really beautiful setting with great facilities. Being Christmas/new year, it was popular but still found my own little spot and everyone around was mindful of noise etc.. The doggo also loved it - would love to visit again when creek is flowing. Paul is a helluva good bloke and very welcoming - thank you!

It’s a great spot with nice camping grounds. Bec was very welcoming and gave us clear instructions about the place. While the hot showers aren't directly in the camping area, they are just a quick walk away. You can find wood nearby for a bonfire, but it was much easier for us to just buy some from Bec. They also have animals that our 3-year-old really enjoyed. We had a great time fishing and getting into the river. Overall, it's a really nice place!

We were able to camp near the creek, unfortunately it was a bit dry but a short walk up the creek we found a beautiful waterhole. The camping area was spacious, nice and flat and very clean and tidy.

We camped there the October long weekend, so naturally it was busy, however we still managed to get a spot right on the river. Despite being busy, we weren't camping in each other's pockets, like at traditional caravan parks. It is an amazing spot! Our kids spent the day floating down the river, they absolutely loved it.

Such a lovely quiet spot! The creek was so lovely for swimming and Chantell was a very helpful host. The area was so nice and flat, we didn’t need to adjust the van at all. Chantell provides a fire pit and left some wood for us too! It’s next to a road so a few cars going by, but we would definitely recommend Platypus creek, particularly in September when the weather is warm and the creek is so refreshing

OMG… We did not want to leave, the serenity, the beautiful surrounds and too top it off Paul’s Dad, Sam is a champ. Don’t miss this place if you’re near by. I am actually a little jealous of the owners. It’s magical. We love the camp kitchen and bathroom, so unique. Not fancy, just homely and fabulous. Walk along the creek or just sit, smell and listen to nature. Thanks Paul for sharing this space.
