Weekend Trip to The Branch River Retreat

The house was fantastic! The pictures really don't do it justice! We had the fire place going all night to keep us lovely and warm. Our host Debora was lovely and so accommodating. The site had everything you could ever ask for, lovely views, a couple of good fishing spots and magic scenery. 10/10 would rent again!

Weekend Trip to Bush Paddock near Stroud

We booked the Cabin in Conjunction with the paddock, in order to accommodate the "Non-campers" in our family. I highly recommend you do the same. It was brilliant to finally have those members join us for a family weekend. There are not many places that can provide this. The cabin was cute and cosy and perfectly adequate for a few days stay. It is located right near the communal camp kitchen. The cabin has it's own kitchen so the camp kitchen for us was a place to come together. Cherie has done a great job with the cabin.

2 nights at The Bower Farm

The Bower Farm Glamping Experience was outstanding! The setting is remarkable; there is a nice flat outlay where the Tent is located, and a beautiful creek that runs through their property which you can walk along and explore. The amenities are beyond what you would expect for an off-grid escape. Matt & Rachel were personable, friendly and very accommodating. They both went to great lengths to ensure that our stay was both comfortable and enjoyable. Some highlights from the Trip were the Hot Tub, the amazing view of the Stars at Night, the cozy King Size Bed and we even got to see a Platypus in the wild thanks to their suggestions on where to look. Stroud is a humble town with plenty to see and do. There are Cafes, Wineries and a Distillery only a short drive away. Can't recommend enough! Will definitely be back.

Weekend Trip to Little Brothers Adventure Park

The best camping experience. We spent 3 nights at Dales camp ground (the honeymoon cabin) and we wish we could have stayed longer. It's amazing for adults and kids you will never get bored. The enduro trails are amazing for dirt biking through the mountain, they even have smaller wide open spaces for young kids who ride. So many places to explore. Dale and Cameron's hospitality is 5 star. They are amazing hosts. We can't wait to plan our next trip.

Plenty of camping space. Facilities were excellent. Cabins were very clean and cosy. Close to Wollombi if you require a coffee fix. Would have been great if we were able to access the creek . Overall a fantastic place for camping with friends and family.

3 nights at Carawirry Forest Escape

The cottage was a stunning place to spend the weekend even though it rained so we didn’t get to explore as much of the bush as we would have liked. Loved the maps which greeted us with so many surprising options to explore. We walked lyrebird and yowie tracks which were challenging but very rewarding. No lyrebird sightings this time round but definitely worth the climb up the side of the mountain. Had a lovely time chilling with the walleroos in the outdoor tub after that one!

This campsite was an absolute delight! Nestled deep within the bush, the secluded location offered a truly peaceful and private getaway. The 4WD tracks leading to the site were challenging and exciting, adding to the adventure. Our host was incredibly welcoming and generous. He went above and beyond, inviting us for an exhilarating ATV ride and even a target shooting session – a truly unforgettable experience. His passion for the area was evident, and he was eager to share his knowledge and facilities. The cabin itself was well-equipped with ample power and water supply, along with all the basic necessities. The cabin was solid and cozy, providing a comfortable and secure base for our stay. The toilet was clean and well-maintained. The surrounding area boasts some fantastic hiking trails with breathtaking views. It was the perfect place to explore nature and soak in the tranquility.

We loved our stay at cranky rock and are return guests. The hosts have poured so much love into creating a space that is full of character and comfortable for their guests. My husband, myself and our dog Millie were well looked after and loved that the hosts also went the extra mile to make sure we had a enjoyable stay we loved that the extra breakfast items they included of fresh eggs etc. Thank you once again for opening cranky rock up for us to stay on our journey back to Sydney. On your way in or out, be sure to check out the boutique village of Wollombi which is just 10 minutes from Cranky Rock, where you'll enjoy wine tasting, fresh produce and quaint cafes. Other must-see's in the area include the Olney State Forest and the Wattagan National Park.The property is located just off a scenic drive, over a 2wd accessible creek crossing. It is peaceful and secluded. Campers can used shared kitchen and bathroom facilities located at the top of the camp area. The Branch River Retreat

Our property is private so we ask you to contact us first to ensure we can provide the facilities most suited to you. We are located on a wide river estuary, offering sites in open paddocks, secluded among trees and beside dams. It suits off-road independent hybrid caravaners and tent dwellers. The river is home to mangroves (so mosquitoes feed the leaping fish), all manner of sea creatures and dolphins are frequent in drier periods. Birdlife includes an array of land and waterbirds, such as Eagles, Magpies, Kookaburras, colourful parrots and smaller shyer birds. The wildlife includes kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, reptiles. You may espy a Koala along the foreshore. For this reason, while we accept dogs, they must be on a leash (if not just for their own safety). The boat ramp has good access for kayaks/canoes. Or just sit on a camper chair and dangle your feet in the water while watching the mud crabs go about their social business. Riverside sites are not powered and do not have water or sewerage. They are situated within 10m to 25m of each other and if this is too close, we recommend booking two sites. Generally, we prefer campers to be 100% self-contained, with their own toilet. A toilet is however accessible, but some 300m to 400m distance from the dams and rivers. There is cold potable running water here for topping up. Sealed roads to the front gate to access the property from north and south. All-weather gravel road access is available, although paddock sites can only be accessed by vehicle during dry periods. Weather willing, we can provide more secluded sites by some lovely dams, (please check conditions if you have concerns). Local groceries can be sourced from Karuah and Stroud. Activities include: - Bird/nature watching - Paddling/canoeing - Fishing - Bike riding (small motor vessels only by arrangement) - Surface type: grass or paddock leveled areas and others with slight slopes and accessed with 4WD (of course subject to weather). - Generally fair to good Mobile phone access. - BYO or Preorder firewood for applicable sites out of fire season. - No electrical connections unless by arrangement (for longer term Hipcampers) - We treat our own sewerage. - No generators please.

Blue Haven Gypsy Paradise

On the Central Coast just 1.5 hours from Sydney is this relaxing peaceful escape suitable for a few families or a group of friends. This place has a truly fascinating history. The huge backyard previously hosted an annual gypsy festival to celebrate International Romani day. The backyard is really the highlight - from the moment you step into it you will feel like you have escaped into your own little paradise. The house itself has 3 bedrooms, with 1 bathroom inside and 1 bathroom outside. Inside the house, which can sleep up to 8 people. In addition to the main house, there are 3 hand-made gypsy style caravans on site. The largest (brown) caravan at the front of the property has a double bed and 2 small single beds - so can sleep up to 4 people. It is suitable for 2 adults and 2 kids. The smallest caravan (green) has 2 single beds in it - please note that these beds are narrower than a standard single bed - see photos. Bed linen and Towels are provided only for the main house occupants - you must bring your own linen and towels when staying in the caravans. The medium caravan (blue) is in the backyard and can be used as a cubby house/chill out area or workspace. The house itself has recently been renovated, with care taken to retain its gorgeous vintage fixtures and furniture. There are coloured stained glass windows and lighting pendants throughout the house. This is our family holiday house so we have set it up with everything that you and your family will need to feel comfortable and at home. It’s an absolute paradise for kids with the trampoline, jetty, gypsy cubby house, kayaks and fishing opportunities. A large sheltered area, our camp kitchen, includes fridge, barbeque, electricity, kettle, table, chairs and more. Enjoy bird watching, visiting wallabies in the late afternoon, or looking for fossils in the seasonal creek just a few metres away. The historical town of Stroud is only 10 or so minutes away if you need supplies. Karuah River is close by for swimming and fishing, and the Barrington Tops National Park is approximately 50 minutes away. Ride Dungog is located at The Common in Dungog, for mountain bike enthusiasts. The area includes 650 acres offering trails for all different levels. While visiting Dungog, there are boutique cafes and shops, a historic cinema, and a lot more to see as you wander through the streets. Unfortunately we no longer have parties, including 18ths, 21sts etc.
