Brooman is less than 30 minutes drive to some of the most beautiful beaches on the south coast. Shallow Crossing is 10 minutes to the south. North is Pigeon House car park, Yadboro and the base of The Castle. To the West there are hundreds of kilometres of Forestry and National Park roads through some of the most spectacular forested mountain country east of the Coastal Range. The Clyde River Berry Farm is just minutes down the road. Local fish and chips, great coffee and handmade bread is 25mins drive at Burrill Lake. Some of the best restaurants and bars on the coast are less than 40 minutes drive at Milton and Mollymook. Merigan Farm is a 1400 Hectare (3500 acre) working sheep and cattle farm. Our family has lived at Merigan for more than 50 years. It has been a farm since the 1840s and we still run sheep and cattle in a regenerative manner, to this day. It’s a pleasure to be able to share the countryside and farm with guests. We currently offer two accommodation options: Cherry Tree - A cabin with a beautiful farm outlook. With a bookcase full of books and a fire pit for cosy evenings, it's the perfect escape. The Quarters - A private section of the old farmhouse offering rural charm and a perfectly comfortable stay. Merigan is the name of the local Parish and on Ngunawal country. It has been recounted by indigenous locals that Merigan means Dingo. The story being that Merigan fought the Bunyip and in their tussle created the rivers and creeks across the range. It’s a southern Australian Mediterranean environment with distinct seasons – it can reach over 42 degrees and in the winter its been known often to snow. Sometimes in summer the easterly sea breezes reaches over the range and the smell of sea salt cools the hot evening. Merigan offers a range of activities, to relax and settle into rural life. One of the best ways to get the feel of Merigan is just taking a walk around the property. We have 3500 acres of space to meander around and a great spots for picnics, drinks and photographs. Feel free to use the Tennis Court, balls and racquets under one of the verandas at the front of the house and the bocce court at the bottom of the garden. Bungendore, 18km away, is a thriving little country town with Galleries, gift-shops, cafés, bakeries, coffee shops and bars. The Top Pub (The Royal ) is the more casual of the hotels. The Bottom Pub (The Lake George) has a fancy restaurant attached to the more informal pub area. Braidwood is a funky Heritage town about 25km East of Bungendore and well worth a visit. It has outstanding shops and eateries and 2 pubs. The Braidwood Hotel being my favourite. Tarago is 14km away. The Loaded Dog do meals but mainly on weekends (Pizzas during the week). Best to check as it varies. Other local attractions include Lark Hill Winery, Lerida Estate Winery, Turlla Truffles and Bungendore Woodworks.

Weekend Trip to Shepherds Rest
Shepherd's Rest is a magic little spot. We stayed in the Barn Room and it was so comfortable and cozy... Not that we were in it much! The property and amenities are awesome, so much secure space for the kids to roam, a beautiful bathroom (love the bath) and gorgeous little kitchen. The animals are very curious and friendly (especially Squashy the llama!) and our dog got on really well with Jacqui's own sweet doggo. Jacqui was an exceptional host, so friendly, helpful and accommodating. We can't wait to plan our next trip back!

Lovely spot and such a great environment to get away and switch off. Still close enough to towns for food if needed, and only 35 minutes to Lake George's wineries. Hosts were very accommodating. Will definitely be back.

Good location away from the city, star visibility is awesome. Tim was friendly and helpful. I have no problem recommending this place for a family to stay for a bit to escape the city and enjoy some country life.

A secluded little historic village in a peaceful valley. Half hour drive to the start of Pigeonhouse Mountain walk. The restored cottages are so charming, we were comfortable and cosy in ours, loved all the timber and features. Host took extra care to make sure we were comfortable. Highly recommended.

Really enjoyed my stay out in the nature and with animals. I would recommend this place 100% and Jacqui is really wonderful host. She genuinely cares and will provide a great stay. I felt like this was my second home.

We had a ball at Shepherds Rest. The shipping container was a cosy little space for our family of five and the kids loved exploring the land and visiting the goats and lama. This spot was well equipped with all things needed for a camping trip with the family, fire pits, camp kitchen and the cutest little bathroom. Jacqui was the perfect host, ensuring we were comfortable and going above and beyond during our time. We will be visiting again!

Weekend Trip to Shepherds Rest
Jacqui was a lovely, friendly host. The amenities were great, especially the bathroom "hut" - so charming! We were able to enjoy a hot shower and shared a beautiful campfire in the common courtyard with others staying there night. The shipping container was just the basics of what we needed of a warm bed for the night and plenty of room for our 3 dogs. Thanks again Jacqui!

Very quiet and peaceful with a remote Australian bush vibe. A wonderful glamping type set up with cute bathroom and kitchen, so clean too. The sunset was beautiful, loved going for a walk this time of day, seeing the goats, lama, chickens and all the native birds. The stars were spectacular and Jacqui was so helpful and welcoming, my dog and I really enjoyed our stay. Take insect repellent and a big hat. Highly recommend to all who love getting out into nature and enjoy the Australian landscape. Even saw Black Cockatoos. Very special place.

Our family of four had a fantastic stay at Ross and Joanne's place. We hired Carisbrook, the larger home at the retreat. It was so comfortable with everything you need. A home away from home. Ross and Joanne are great hosts and communication was excellent. Our 15 year old is obsessed with fishing. He caught quite a few bass in the river. He was very impressed! The tall trees, the birds and the serenity made our stay a memorable one. We will definitely be back. The smaller cottages look just a comfortable too with everything you need. Thanks Ross and Joanne. You have a beautiful retreat. We will see you soon 👍🎣😊
