25 years ago, we camped this spot and dreamed of building a house here. The view was so captivating. Needless to say, we’ve been here 20+yrs and still camping our land. Now we are sharing the beautiful landscape and remote feel that's so close to so much to see and do. We love where we are and we think you will too. Oh and I should also mention, you must love dogs. We have 3 plus 2 cats and chickens. Isolated or wide open. 1 tent or group camping. No electricity or water hookups. Free Access to water hose. We do not allow recreational motorized vehicles, firearms or bows. This is a peaceful serene getaway. We also have Airbnb rentals that consist of our home, that's also listed as "Wild Meadows atop Rutherford County", a travel trailer referred to as "Wildwood 17' Western RV and an RV listed as "Boutique RV at Wild Meadows". See trees, birds, lightning bugs and gorgeous views of Rutherford county. 5 min. from water. Swim, bike, fish, walk or run. The best camping near Henry Horton State Park guide

Overview

About

Less than an hour’s drive south of Nashville, Henry Horton lies on the shores of Duck River, one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world. With more than 10 miles of trails that wind through various ecosystems, there are plenty of hiking and biking opportunities for all levels of ability, including an easy paved loop. You can also head to the 18-hole golf course, disc golf course, and trap and skeet range, then cool off in the Olympic-sized swimming pool. Henry Horton State Park has 56 RV sites and 19 tent specific sites, as well as two backcountry sites and six hammock-only, primitive sites.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. As Henry Horton is a popular destination, booking in advance is highly recommended, especially during the summer and on weekends year-round.
  2. Booking can be easily done online or by phone and up to one year in advance.
  3. Double-check your dates before booking—a non-refundable booking fee is charged.

When to go

The summer season from Memorial Day to Labor Day is the park’s peak period, with many visitors arriving to enjoy the trails and cooling off afterward in the swimming pool. As a result, the park can get very crowded, even on weekdays. That said, there’s plenty to do year-round—spring and fall are great for watching migrating birds, and visiting outside of the summer season means beating both the crowds and Tennessee's intense heat and humidity.

Know before you go

  • The park’s camp store sells basic camping supplies, snacks, drinks, and souvenirs.
  • Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash.
  • Only certified heat-treated firewood is allowed to enter the park.
