This campsite is a pull thru road that has a sun and wind block overlooking local farm fields. Please note that SELF-CONTAINED vehicles are required for this site, as this is a dry camp with no water access or restrooms. Camp is two miles from freeway exit yet a mile from any home other than the working homestead that was started in 1890 with huge barn built in 1906 next door. (Please do not bother the renters who live there.) This is a great place to rest for the night or a week. - simple, safe, and private out of the way. From I-84 you will take exit 198 for Lorenzen/McClintock Rd. Turn onto Lorenzen, which is a gravel road. Drive one mile until you get to an intersection next to a grain bin. Turn left onto Peebler (west) and drive for almost one mile. As you near the two openings for the site, you will see the sun shelter directly on your left. You want to turn at the 2nd opening, by the sign that says IN (with green Peebler Lane sign above it.) You can pull up right next to the shelter and set up your space however you like. That way, when you leave you will pass by the EXIT sign and be headed back towards the interstate like you came.
This site is 12 miles west from the world-famous Pendleton Round-Up. 8 miles east of Echo Ridge Winery, Sno Road Winery, Echo historical museum, and Echo Golf Course. Simple dining can be found in Echo at H and P cafe and in nearby Stanfield at Broken Barrel Restaurant/Bar with great burgers.

This weekend was exceptional! My husband and I are from Seattle, my husband's best friend David is from Idaho and I did my best job at triangulating and came up with Echo, Oregon.
What a pleasure this place is! As soon as you pull in you see goats behind a fence jumping around, when you drive around to the campsites they are so wide and so spacious we were able to fit a trailer perpendicular in the campsite and two large cars, two different pop-ups, a tent it was just sprawling.
Gina made extra effort to show our friend where to enter the river, he and his puppy had a great time swimming and enjoying the coolness from the hot day.
I would read this hip site camp 10 out of 10! Super friendly hosts and such a special treat to actually stay on a working farm!

Love. The shade trees around #25 . Loved the turkey who came to say hello. The sheep in the fenced pasture greeted us first. A great spot on our way to Boise, Id. Train in the distance was not a bother during sleeping time but seeing it pass thru was just fun .Will definitely stay if in the area again.

This is a beautiful, tranquil off grid spot high in the Blue Mountains, not far off I-84. It is also behind a locked gate so there is more privacy and security than a typical campground. I have enjoyed stopping here on my trips back and forth between Seattle and home. I recommend it to anyone looking to escape civilization for a bit.

Clean bathroom, lots of space, quiet like no quiet I’ve experienced, and located in one of the top rated dark sky areas with Bortle (sp?) score of 1-2, the highest. Wild turkey and their babies greeted us. We saw long horn sheep (I think) in Spray and beautiful country along the John Day River.

This campsite was exactly as described. The canyon walls are stunning, the waterfall was gorgeous and full of life. Also an excellent place to cool down after getting a little sweaty setting up camp. The camp site is spacious and private. Stargazing was 10/10. Truly stoked to have found this gem, cannot wait to come back and spend a few more days!

Our family absolute loved staying at Tin Willows! With one preteen a teen it’s difficult to find much they enjoy that doesn’t involve being k screens. They really enjoyed petting and milking the sheep, and we all fell in love with Jack and Joe the magical dogs on the property who are just so loving. They even slept next to our tent as our little protectors.

Sorry, not much to review. I cancelled early, so did not do this camping trip. I guess I should have contacted Hipcamp also. I do recommend this area though. I have camped in this country for about 30 years so I know quite a bit of it. Would definitely recommend it.

I fell in love with this place! I tent camped in the pasture and really enjoyed meeting the pigs and goats. They were so friendly and adorable. The owners are very nice! I slept great. The little town is fun. There is a winery a very short walk away and the main town area is fun to walk to. Perfect evening!
