We loved this place! We were lucky enough to be the only campers on the property and thoroughly enjoyed our time exploring, relaxing, and spending time in the pond. With three water dogs with us, the pond was the most winning feature, and though there was a fair amount of algae, Kristin told us it was safe to swim in—fed by a continuously running freshwater spring—so we did. While the campsites themselves are fairly rustic, the area around the pond is actually quite posh, with an actual sand beach, an outdoor kitchen, nice seating and eating areas, an umbrella, and boats available to use. The dogs loved it, we loved it, and, selfishly, we were delighted not to have to share this community space with other campers.
Some of the captions with the photos are misleading—there aren’t RV hookups, a shower, or a community refrigerator, but we were fine with all that. The bathrooms and public areas were immaculately clean, and we were thrilled at the lack of poison oak and foxtails or stickers our dogs could get into. The hosts were welcoming and friendly (we got to see their amazing mini-steam engine and railroad), and despite the recent devastation from the Park Fire to surrounding land, the ranch is beautiful and well maintained, with signs of new growth everywhere.
We will definitely be back!

Such an amazing family camping spot! It was our daughter’s first time camping and she loved it. The camp site was perfect and had a lot of space and shade. The pond was also such a fun activity during the day with the other camping neighbors. Lots of fishing and fun water activities (boat, paddleboard, etc.) The cherry on top was the train ride around the property Sunday morning! It was such a special treat to end the trip. 10/10 we will be back to visit and I would recommend to anybody looking for a special camping spot!
The hosts were very nice and communicative. Both camp sites had room for a camper trailer. Surrounding trees gave adequate shade but I would recommend bringing a pop-up canopy. The pond was within walking distance from the camp site but I would recommend bringing a bike to get there quicker. There is a hose bibb by the pond that provides fresh spring water. I highly recommend this camp site to get away. It is secluded and private with plenty of areas to explore and walk around. We will definitely be booking again! Thank you for a great camping experience with my family!
Maple Creek Ranch is amazing. I’ve been there many times before and this was our best trip ever. Ron and Kristin awesome hosts. Their property is amazing. The pond was refreshing and our campsite perfect. I’ll be back.

Kristin was super friendly. The pond was awesome, couldn’t pull my black lab out of it. The outdoor shower was a cute and great after a sweaty hike to Mud Creek. Camp sites were far enough away that we didn’t interfere with each other. Wonderful experience and we had a great time. My friends were talking about coming back with their own families.

Huge site, dog friendly, clean clear swimming hole with beach and amenities. Paddle board, kayaks and row boat available for use on swimming hole. Kristin was welcoming and very helpful. Highly recommend!

The host and family are awesome! The property is well kept and the stories of the years past are pleasant to hear. You can hike the rail, trail, or chill at the fresh spring water pond.
First time ever doing a Hipcamp and it did not disappoint at all. This place was absolutely gorgeous, peaceful and tranquil. We had the whole place to ourselves. Gorgeous relaxing pond packed full of blue gil and bass. The kids caught their first ever fish 🐟 which of course made this trip that more memorable. They had a cool railroad track, the cleanest bathroom ive ever seen at a campsite, nice warm shower. The host were amazing, they offered us free water let us use any and all of their boats, canoes and paddleboard. We look forward to returning in the future.

Tent camping on this property was amazing! My fiancée and I stayed 2 nights. Kristin was available by phone when needed and very accommodating (Penny her dog is also very cute and friendly). The Pond was stocked with fish that were so friendly they swam up to you! Highly recommend for teaching beginners how to fish. Site 1 has lots of trees and shade, perfect for hammocks with tree straps! The site felt pretty private, with the occasional hello from our campsite neighbor at the other site, but the sites are far enough away where it feels pretty private. The fire ring for the campfire has a small cooking grate off to the side of ring; we added our personal pop up cooking grate over the fire to add extra cooking space for multiple pans/cast irons. Overall an awesome camping trip and camp site!

The host Kristin was really sweet and friendly, and she had 8 gallons of water filled up at our campsite before we arrived, which was very thoughtful of her.
The campsite itself is really serene and peaceful, feels like you’re the only ones in the forest, which is perfect for relaxing.
My only qualms would be the absence of a sink in the bathroom, and distance to shower (5 min walk or drive down to the pond/shower area).
The bathrooms and showers were very clean, had hot water and sufficient toilet paper rolls.
Overall, we had a great experience and enjoyed our 2-night stay here.

Such a fun campsite! The kids LOVED playing and fishing in the pond. We were the only campers there and it was great!
Really enjoyed our time here! Very peaceful, quiet, and welcoming. We had a great time hanging out at the pond and enjoyed an amazing view of the stars at night. Highly recommended!
Our camping experience was great at site one. Good flat area for our 26' trailer, and additional tents if we had chosen to set up. Our grandsons, age 6 and 10, had their first camping experience and enjoyed it immensely, especially the fishing and canoeing on the pond!! Great isolation from crowds. Kristin introduced herself and was very kind and thoughtful!! We would go there again in the future!!

The only feedback I have to give, is the showers were a bit finicky to adjust which resulted in taking cold showers .

even has a a very nice TRAIN ! ( it's in the train Barn locked up . but you can peak in and get some nice pictures through the cracks in the barn). They are in the process of rebuilding the tracks.
Old tracks around the property you can take a nice scenic hike along !
This was my second time Maple Creek Ranch. Differently coming back.
If you're traveling by the Chico area STOP by ! You won't regret it !
No power or sewer at the site's ( they will provide 5 Gal water jugs if needed, power and Wifi at pond only! )

Our host was awesome. Went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. The lake area was beautiful. The dogs loved the little beach and my girlfriend loved the paddle board. Will definitely be back.

Definitely a nice area to camp in a tent. Very peaceful and beautiful private land! Lots of forest to walk around at.The host was very kind and welcoming. They are even kind enough to provide a 5 gallon jug of well water, fire pit, picnic table, and a very clean flushable toilet to share. They have a beautiful little pond at the entrance to use and the best part is that they only have two campsites avaliable which are very spaced out from eachother given you your own private area. Definitely a go to place for some peace and quite and stargazing! Will be doing it again!

What a beautiful peaceful place! Our little family totally enjoyed the weekend camping. The host was wonderful. He met us at the gate to make sure we knew where to go. The camp comes with 5gal water and plenty of space. Our dog absolutely loved it! Flushable toilet made camping feel glamorous.
A beautiful property! We loved the privacy, and the pond. Ron and Kim obviously love their property, and we are so glad they shared it with us!

My family loved spending the weekend here with the 2 dogs! So relaxing and peaceful, minus the dusk mosquitoes 🥲 it was so nice of Kristin to provide us with their well water and we had easy access to get more firewood when we needed it. The bathroom is the cleanest “outhouse” we have ever experienced - blessed! 😂 Kristin’s family is incredibly welcoming and we’re thankful we got to stay here. Internet also worked well and it’s a short, nice walk to the lovely pond. We took the little paddle boat out during the golden hour when the sky is changing colors and it was breathtaking. Highly recommend this spot!
Been using Hipcamp for just over 2 years and this is an absolute favorite. The picnic table and fire pit are perfect.

We loved tent camping at this spot! The views were great and we had lots of fun paddling around in canoes on the pond
My family and I had the best time camping at Maple Creek Ranch. We stayed at Site 2, which was privately nestled among the trees—clean, flat, and perfectly peaceful. The site included a deep firepit and a sturdy picnic table, making it easy to relax and cook meals together.
The amenities were fantastic. There was a spotless outhouse just about a hundred feet away (with a flushing toilet!), and a hot shower next to the pond. The pond itself was stocked with bluegill and bass, and my family caught their first-ever fish there—an unforgettable memory!
But the highlight of our stay was Ron, the host. He’s an absolute gem—so kind, genuine, and full of great stories. He brought us firewood and water and when my car battery died on our last day, he didn’t hesitate to drive over with his truck and give me a jump. His hospitality truly made our trip special.
We’ll absolutely be coming back and can’t recommend Maple Creek Ranch enough to anyone visiting the Cohasset/Chico area!

This is our 5th trip to Maple Creek. We’ r gone in summer, fall & winter and the location is always beautiful. Ron & Kristen are great hosts. They are present but not overbearing. They’re proud of their land and genuinely enjoying sharing it.
Maple Creek was awesome! Very peaceful and Ron was super helpful and friendly. Despite the fact that there was an event taking place on the property the same weekend, I felt like I had the whole place to myself. The flush toilet is also a gem! I will definitely be staying at Maple Creek again.
