Pinion Farm Homestead

8 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents21 acres · Nucla, CO
Pinion Farm Homestead located in the town of Nucla, CO is a 40-acre new farm/orchard operation that currently includes pigs, rotational grazing cows and sometimes horses, organically-grown vegetable garden, hay pastures and practices regenerative agriculture within the heirloom apple orchards onsite. Originally home to the Uncompahgre Ute Native Americans, Nucla was founded by a socialist group from Denver, the Colorado Cooperative Company. Some of the members built (some sent money) a 17-mile ditch to carry water from the San Miguel River to the mesa top. Pinion Farm Homestead was homesteaded by the Lundahl family and were founding members of the cooperative. The original farm included an old farmhouse, a chicken coop, and a winter storage building that are all still standing. The Lundahl family raised pigs, chickens and cows, cultivated apple, peach, mulberry, apricot and plum trees, and grew hay, corn, oats, barley and vegetables. John Lundahl owned the creamery for a short time as well.

Where The Wild Things Camp

17 sites · RVs, Tents25 acres · La Sal, UT
Come camp Where The Wild Things Camp! Let the awe-inspiring views of the majestic slick rock, sage and juniper surround you in the peace and quiet of this beautifully secluded desert space. Centrally located to the best Canyonlands has to offer, our camp is located on 25 acres less than half a mile from Looking Glass Arch, a popular rock climbing destination which got its name from the conquistadors who would climb to the top and look through a “looking glass” for landmarks that would lead them back to Santa Fe. Moab is 25 miles to our North, about a 30 minute drive. The nearest convenience store/gas station is in the tiny town of La Sal, 12 miles NE of us. The nearby La Sal mountains rise to over 12,000 in elevation and is a great place to get out of the heat and enjoy lakes surrounded by beautiful pine and aspen forests. As the name suggests, Where The Wild Things Camp truly is wild and not for everyone. We are off grid, meaning there is NO electricity, no drinking water, its often windy (thank goodness for ALL the trees) but there is “spotty” cell phone service. Treat yourself to dinner next door at ULUM, a 5-star resort with a restaurant and bar! Make sure to check the weather forecast before coming out and be prepared for anything as the weather here in the desert can be unpredictable. Porta-Potty's available. PLEASE PRACTICE PACK-IT-IN AND PACK-IT-OUT. NON-AGGRESSIVE dogs are always welcome, however please keep in mind that a lot of our wild friends also live here, such as coyotes, rattlesnakes, deer and antelope. We wouldn’t want your pets or our friends harmed in any way! From Moab: Drive south on Hwy 191 for approximately 23 miles and turn right (east) onto Looking Glass Rd/Co. Rd. 131 (It will be the first right after La Sal Junction) Continue on this road for 1.4 miles until you see a wide gravel road branching off to the left. Turn left, this road will branch again in .03 miles, turn to the right (before entering ULUM) and continue straight (another .5 mile to WHERE THE WILD THINGS CAMP!! From Monticello: Drive north on Hwy 191 for approximately 31 miles and turn left onto Looking Glass Rd/Co. Rd 131 (It will be the first left after Wilson Arch). https://earth.google.com/earth/d/1LNE4WnnOSypbZmVX_Z1uOCCNpkMgFDdl?usp=sharing Moab: 25 miles Canyon Rims Recreation Area: 12 miles La Sal: 12 miles Monticello: 33 miles Blanding: 54 miles Bluff: 79 miles Mexican Hat: 104 miles Monument Valley: 126 miles

Be My Guest

6 sites · Tents10 acres · Bedrock, CO
If this is your first time visiting historic Paradox Valley, welcome to the wild west. You are in for a pleasant surprise as this area is little known and has been described as a step back in time. Paradox and the old ghost town of Bedrock are only a few miles from the Utah state line on highway 90. the wide open enormous canyons remind us of the beautiful wonders we have here in the wild west. Situated along the old Paradox cattle trail, 25 miles from the nearest town with amenities. We are located . approximately halfway between Telluride Colorado 70 miles to the East and 60 miles to the West is Moab Utah. Our camp is veteran owned. (20 yrs Army Cavalry Scout) Come and relax on my little sanctuary . ive been busy getting more sites completed, and I have enjoyed creating each campsite. And each site has its own kind of vibe. depending on your style or abilities i have campsites from park at sites to walk in for those who want more privacy. Super pet freindly. 2 blond great pyranese are my companions and brothers Rugar and Titus will welcome you at the gate. They get along with everyone and everything. I have some really peaceful and fun trails that offer an abundance of shade during the hottest part of your stay. Around the multitude of rocks are a few short ATV trails. Our property is backed by thousands of acres of OUR blm lands. The "Shamans Wall" Petroglyphs just a few miles East of our camp is a great place to rest, reset, reflect, and in my opinion, help put things in perspective. The 18 mile Confluence River road (Y11) connects Bedrock and Uravan Colorado where the reminants of an old flume can be seen running down the giant canyon. Great rafting canyon with a boatramp and day camping area along the Delores river also in Bedrock. Tons of cool stuff to see and do within a 10 mile radius. Can facilitate watercraft, bicycle, or hiking transportation. For our sportsman guests, we can provide assistance on the extraction of elk, mule deer , bear, lion, bocat and coyote. Soon we hope to finish our wheelchair freindly site. For now I am providing free firewood at each site. Partners with a great mechanic in gateway Colorado who can provide mobile mechanic service or in shop work with transportation to and from our camp. The scenery and terrain features change dramatically every 500 feet up or down so lots of beautiful cactus blooms in the spring. The smell of fresh sage wakes you up on crisp summer mornings. Come down and Be My Guest. Rex
