I had an amazing time staying at the camp site Chris had very good vibes. Im pretty sure its a summer camp at times but a campground when its not. Me and my friends had the luxury of being the only campers there. We got given a portable campfire to use and free wood and free ice which really benefited our trip. We were right next to this area that had lights we were able to turn on and it lit up our whole camp ground at night. The bathrooms were clean and sinks had hot water but the shower is outside and the water is lukewarm. We saw wild cows frogs turkeys around the campgrounds and got to play with Chriss amazing dog aswell. We paddled in the canoes on the lake were offered little fishing poles too! 10/10 would recommend as long as your ok with outside shower, I also would make sure you arrive in the daylight as it could be trickier finding ur way at night. Thank you Chris! Hope to come back again soon!

We loved the place, it is under a new management so there were some hiccups but overall it is a great place to stay, just 24 minutes away from Big stump and has pretty lake with canoe availble. enroute you can even see the local birds and animals.

I try to keep expectations realistic when camping, but this experience felt less like a campsite and more like accidentally wandering onto the set of a low-budget horror movie.
We were told someone would greet us upon arrival, but after waiting a couple hours with spotty communication and delayed responses to calls/texts, we eventually just kind of figured things out ourselves. The hosts were not very responsive or professional, which made the whole experience feel confusing from the start.
The listing photos also felt very misleading. The property looked much more abandoned and unkept in person. The lake was heavily overgrown, there were no clearly designated campsites, and despite being told there were plenty of other campers around, we appeared to be completely alone the entire stay. That might sound peaceful to some people, but paired with the atmosphere, it mostly just felt unsettling.
The only bathroom available resembled kids camp bathrooms, and the shower was basically an outdoor rinse station with cold water. Functional? Technically yes. Luxurious? Only if your dream vacation involves recreating survival reality shows.
Also, the cows became fully nocturnal opera singers after sunset and mooed loudly all night. I didn’t know cows worked night shift, but apparently these ones do.
To be fair, we made it through the night and have a funny story now, but overall I wouldn’t stay here again or recommend it unless major improvements are made.

We stayed at this place two nights while visiting sequoia and kings canyon. My group loved having this summer camp to ourselves. I highly recommended and would love to visit again.

Check in was seamless and the contact with the hosts was great. We really enjoyed the grounds and all of the amenities. Driving in is a bit of a struggle, but totally manageable with a Toyota Camry (even if it doesn’t quite look like it). Views driving in make it worth the tight corners.

We took our three young kids camping at Camp Hye Sierra this past weekend (three nights total) and had a wonderful time! My older two kids, ages 7.5 and 4.5, especially loved going out in the canoes. We saw so many animals, including a large turkey family, deers, hawks, woodpeckers, and even found predator tracks (thinking mountain lion based on size). We visited Kings Canyon NP one day and planned to visit Sequoia NP the next day but decided to just hang around camp instead. We’ve already told our family about this camp and want to return with a larger party in the future :)
Also, shoutout to Chris, the camp groundskeeper. He was so helpful and super responsive! With young children, we asked if we could set our tent away from the lake and he turned on the electricity by the arts and crafts pavilion for us. We appreciated that so much so we didn’t have to worry about someone wandering to the lake without an adult.

Beautiful! Came after a rain storm and were the only people there. It was cold but felt amazing especially after closing in summer. Set up under the overhang and it was awesome. Nice and out of the way from everybody at the national parks. But it is still close enough to spend all day and explore both parks. Plenty to do and not too far from a gas station and some cool coffee spots. Will definitely be back again

Awesome private getaway just off the main road and 10 miles away from the Kings Canyon visitors center. We had a large group (9 adults and 10 kids) and we were situated right in front of the lake wheee the kids had a blast on the canoes and fished from the pier. We woke up to deer grazing in the field and turkeys later in the day. There were also some dairy cows from the ranch close by but they didn’t come back after the second night.
This site has real bathrooms and showers with electricity to recharge electronics. Thanks to Chris for keeping the grounds clean and cows at bay!

Camp Hye Sierra is a classic summer camp setting, usually used for long kids’ camps. Our spot was by one of the lakes, with paddle boats, a boathouse with running water and flush toilets, and an arbor that came in handy during an unseasonal rainstorm.
We were the only campers, so we had our choice of space. If it were busy, finding a flat tent spot could be harder.
The area is remote, quiet, and private — you can almost hear echoes of past camp life. The only downside was a large number of wasps.

Tent camping lakeside was perfect. Location was great too. Very close to the General Grant entrance of Kings Canyon.
Plenty of amenities available. Went out in a canoe multiple times. Kids fished off the dock and had some pretty good luck. We all enjoyed swims in the lake.
Plenty of firewood at the communal fire pit.
Flushing toilets and running water was nice. The bathroom did have a lot of dead bugs, but were great once cleaned. Trash cans emptied regularly.
Chris was our on-property point of contact. He was super helpful and responsive.

Super awesome! My 8 year old son loved everything about it. Soccer, basketball, volleyball, and canoeing. The host was amazing! Good place if visiting kings canyon and sequoia national parks. I will be back!

Our family enjoyed camping here for 3 nights and 4 days. The property is off the main highway on the way to Sequoia National Park, and although the road is a little windy and mostly a one-lane, it is paved. Cell service is spotty and mostly places nonexistent. We called before to notify the property manager and he gave us directions on how to get there. Upon arrival we had little help from the manager but took it upon ourselves to just figure it out.
The photos on Hipcamp are a bit deceiving. The pavilion is right next to the lakeside camp area, the bathrooms and the basketball court, soccer field are walking distance.
The pond is catch and release (the fish like worms!) so bring your rods. It’s pretty murky and I wouldn’t swim in it though. But he did say it’s tested monthly.
Pros: hot water in bathrooms, water bottle filling station, wood provided for fire pit
Cons: bullfrogs are LOUD at night and kept us awake (bring ear plugs), minimal guidance from property management
Overall: we enjoyed our stay. It’s basically an Armenian Church Camp during the mid-summer months and they must rent out camp space the remaining weeks. The property manager is more like a groundskeeper but everything was easy to manage and figure out.
Other notes: we saw glow worms by the fire pit! They must get fireflies later in the season.
It seems like there is no designation between lakeside 1, 2 vista 1, 2. You just find a spot and camp there.

I love the view and the camp site next to the lake. We caught multiple fish and there were lots of family activities. I would like to thank the staff and Tony for checking on us and helping us out; thanks Tony. I would be coming back for sure.

This campsite was BEAUTIFUL!!! Took my lovely gf there for her birthday and it was AMAZING. Chris was so nice and hospitable. He was so kind to let me borrow a couple of fishing rods and some tackle since I didn’t bring my own. Because of that I was able to teach my gf how to fish for her birthday and she absolutely LOVED it!! We took the boat out and caught plenty of bass. It was a great time!

We enjoyed camping here.
Getting there with the given directions was simple during the day. On the drive in, our route had a sharp left turn which could be easy to miss if you're driving quickly. The road in is rocky and allows for one car.
The facilities were clean and available. We were the only ones during our stay, so we didn't have any issues of privacy. There was one restroom building with men's and women's restrooms. One shower stand with two heads. Chris mentioned the water heater was in the attic, so hot water may take a bit to reach the showers (but we didn't end up showering). The faucets had hot water though.
There was only one row boat during our stay, but it was nice to have to get on the lake.
The pavillion was great to have! String lights are already hung there, and you just have to plug it in. There were outlets on a couple of the columns.
There was one large firepit at the amphitheater area. We had a small fire the first night and just sat on the edge of the pit. The second night we had a larger fire and had room to arrange our chairs around it.
Chris, our host, was friendly and reachable whenever we needed.
Overall a great camping experience!

Really beautiful campsite with a nice covered seating area lit with fairy lights. The toilets were clean and there was a water fountain for drinking / filling up bottles. The road up to the campsite is a steep, single track road - avoid arriving after sunset as it’s a difficult drive.

Hye Camp was beautiful! We absolutely loved it and kids had a blast.
We set up our tents at lakeside and the views were great. Bathrooms, soccer field, basketball court, and both ponds were very close and an easy walk. Like listed in other reviews the bathrooms were very clean.
Both ponds were stocked with fish. Our camp had caught about 12, all of which were Bass and 1 Bluegill.

Camp Hye Sierra was awesome! Restrooms were very clean, soccer field/basket ball court was an easy walk away from the lake where we had set up our tents, lots of wildlife, and good fishing ponds. All together our camp had caught about 12 fish; all of which was Bass and 1 Blue Gill. The kids loved it and we would definitely recommend.
