We are proud to offer hammock cabanas which are a unique luxurious form of amenity-rich camping (often called glamping). You don’t need bring all of your bulky camping gear on the airplane in order to experience the best camping in the United States.
Each cabana is screened in for comfort allowing the tropical breezes to flow through and each has closeable rain shield curtains to keep the wind and water out when necessary. They each include two large adjustable hammocks which allow for either flat or cradled sleeping. The hammocks can each hold up to 450 lbs or 204 kg so guests may choose to either sleep together or separately. Also inside, there is a solar powered overhead light with pull cord and a large cooler to store your cold food and drinks with an ice block (sold separately nearby). Towels, blankets, and pillows are included. Don’t waste your Hawaiian vacation cooped up in a hotel room. Come enjoy the real Hawaii, where the gentle breeze and tree frogs will lull you to sleep each night.
Glampers have access to our open air full bathroom with running water and a stunning rainfall shower (located at the main house). They also have access to our covered outdoor kitchen with grills, a sink, prep space, dining area, dishes, cups, silverware, and cookware (also located at the main house).

I was welcomed by Mathew and Robbie as soon as I arrived and given a tour of this wonderful place! There is a main house you are available to enjoy between 8 am to 9 pm but really you have everything you need outside. The outdoor bathroom is amazing and the kitchen has everything you need! I stayed in Cabana #3 and it was so cozy! There were two hammocks, each of which had two blankets and a pillow. There was also a towel and a cooler for storing food and drinks! It is a perfect location just a short drive from Hilo and very close to Akaka Falls.
This place rocks. I loved it so much that I extended my stay an extra night here!
-THE VIEW. OMG. Watching the sunrise over the ocean from your hammock cabana... it just doesn't get better :)
-right next to Akaka Falls hike
-very organized and clean!
-signs everywhere so you know where you're going
-there are multiple camping cabins onsite, and everyone I met was really nice
-the cabins are stocked with towels, cooler, pillows, blanket, flashlight... literally everything you need is there!!! so nice of them.
-indoor/outdoor bathroom and shower for guests to enjoy
-communal kitchen with everything and anything you need
-WIFI!!! i mean this is some serious glamping
-15 minute drive from Hilo
STAY HERE. Seriously. It's awesome.
Loved loved loved it!!! Ray who runs the property is so welcoming as soon as you walk in the door. The cabanas are so cute. Sleeping in hammocks is like sleeping in a hug. The breeze from being higher up is like a natural air conditioner. The blankets for the hammocks are so soft . The outside shower has hot water which is a relief when you’ve been camping as only had cold showers. The shower also has soap shampoo and conditioner. There are two showers and outside and inside shower. The outside shower has a view of the mountains . It’s just an incredibly beautiful place. Keep in mind it’s camping in hammocks. It’s not a hotel. But if you are looking for a place that is close to nature and away from the tourist traps you must must must stay here !!
The hammock cabanas are very comfortable for two people. The outdoor kitchen area could be improved with: a fridge, new BBQ, utensils, knives, etc. The fire pit area is nice and we used it with the other guests.
Ron was an awesome guest, and everything was exactly as advertised. It was easy to keep everything dry during this extremely wet week. I would highly recommend this Cabana to anyone wanting a bit of adventure, but still wanting a reservation and to pack light.
The location is absolutely gorgeous and the facilities are immaculate. Even the bathrooms were always very clean and nice. The cabanas are super cute too.
The concept of the hammock cabanas is a good one, but the only thing I would suggest is that there should be an alternative sleeping arrangement for couples who want to sleep together. The hammocks are not the type with the spreader bar that can fit two people side by side- they are the cocoon type hammocks... so two people in one of those is not comfortable for anything longer than a short nap.
Amazing glamping experience in a jungly area near Hilo. The hosts clearly put a lot of thought and care into creating a beautiful space for visitors. The property is on a lush hillside with views of the ocean. Facilities are very tidy. There’s a shared bathroom, an outdoor kitchen area, free wifi near the main house and even a communal fire pit. Best part was waking up to watch the sunrise from my hammock cabana. One drawback: during certain hours there’s only one bathroom for up to 6 groups of campers. In the morning I had to wait in line for 45 minutes to take a shower. Otherwise great experience and I highly recommend it!
It was a very nice setting and listening to the animals at night, seeing the sunrise from the hammock, and also when taking the shower is amazing. The house/outside kitchen/BBQ is really a nice surprise and the whole experience was fantastic. As it was a bit cold during the night, we were happy to have 2 air mattresses with us (sea to summit brand) which we could add into the hammock which was a much better and warmer sleeping for us. I would definitely come back to this..:
