Description
Have you ever thought about hiking the Appalachian Trail, then realized you couldn’t go a week without sleeping in a real bed? Then the Sunrise Cabin at Jefferson National Forest is the spot for you. This rentable unit located in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area is a two-story house that sleeps eight, with gorgeous views of the Blue Ridge Highlands off the front porch and a cozy, warm fireplace to snuggle next to at night. During your stay, you can lounge on the rustic cabin’s comfy furniture, and read a book in the warm glow of the sunlight. You can also venture out to the stunning hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails.
Mountains, valleys, and one of the world’s oldest rivers can be found in the area around your cabin, and while there are no swimming beaches, there’s no one to stop you from getting in the water while canoeing, kayaking, or fishing (you might need to on a hot day, as the cabin has no A/C). After a day of sunbathing on the deck, take a dip in one of the two bathtubs before preparing yourself a home-cooked meal in the rustic kitchen (pots and pans included, though linens and towels are not).
