Our homestead is a few acres in East Texas, near Hawkins. The land has been untouched for about 30 years, maybe last used for cattle grazing. We're keeping the property as natural as possible, we live here off-grid and off-pipe.
There’s a 17 acre lake that we share with neighbors. It’s full of bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish, we encourage catch and keep fishing since the lake could use a little fishing pressure. We also have a beaver pond, and resident beaver.
Some of the wildlife we see regularly: fireflies, turtles, cardinals, bluejays, hummingbirds, kite birds, frogs, opossums, armadillos, beaver, river otter, road runners and rabbits. These plants live here too: Beautyberry, Dewberry, Pokeberry, Sparkleberry, Dogfennel, Dogwood, Yaupon Holly, Holly, Wax Myrtle, Sassafras , Lyreleaf Sage, Carolina Crane’s bill, Coral Honeysuckle, Western White Honeysuckle, Smooth Cat’s Ear, Daisy Fleabane, Prairie Onion, Mullein, Summer Grape, Water Lily. The entire water lily plant is edible, did you know?
Swim, hang out, cool down on the small swimming dock. Canoe and kayak included! Based on shared availability, we have 1 two person canoe, and 3 kayaks for use on our lake free of charge. There are smaller size adult life jackets and oars/paddles. Bring your own life jackets for kids.

I loved camping on Will and Austyn's land. They met us with a warm hello a tour upon arrival. The tent was located towards the back of the property, tucked away nicely. We had the whole camp to ourselves, which was GREAT! We wanted a nice and quiet trip, which is what we got. The tent itself was cozy. Before we arrived, Will and Austyn set up our tent and bathroom area with heaters, turned on and ready to go. That was an AMAZING touch. The night we arrived, the low was 25 degrees. But it actually got hot in the tent, I was sweating. They also provided an electric blanket! Again, a wonderful touch that they didnt have to provide.
The wifi was Great! If you want to unplug completely, great. But we needed the service for Emergency calls back home.
The community kitchen was great! It had almost everything we needed. The bathroom was warm because of the space heater and fully stocked with essentials!
Now a couple of things to think about:
If you're a coffee drinker, bring k cups. Thats what was inside the tent. Or it will be a process to use the French press. Personally, not my thing, but im a HUGE coffee drinker.
The kitchen isnt heated, so cooking was painful the first night only because it was so cold. But the soup we made was worth it.
Spiders... everywhere. Lol its expected... only daddy long legs but be aware if you a terrified of spiders like myself.
Lighting in the tent was low, bring a lantern! Theres a spot to hang one.
All in all it was WONDERFUL! WILL be back!

The stay at Randy and Cheryl‘s hummingbird retreat was fabulous. Had a great reunion with some old friends. Randy and Sheryl were fabulous house. They showed us around the place and told us about all the amenities of which there are many the hot tub the trails the movies, well stocked Cabin exercise room library the animals it was just a really great place to gather we all had a a great time and we’re able to relax and enjoy. We had the most amazing weekend getaway at this beautiful tiny home in East Texas! The property is absolutely stunning—Will and Austyn are clearly putting so much love and care into the land, and it shows. The tiny house itself was perfect: cozy, clean, and thoughtfully designed for comfort. After a day of exploring the nearby area, soaking in the hot tub under the stars was pure magic. Our hosts Will and Austyn are amazing. They are so friendly and welcoming. They went above and beyond to made sure we have everything we needed. My husband and I stayed in the Unique Glamping Dome. It was very spacious and the bed was so comfy. The shared kitchen and bathroom are was so clean!! Side note Almond (the cat) was just as welcoming and friendly as our hosts. Austin gave me a great tour and history of the property at midnight when I finally arrived. Was still there to greet me! Great place. Not far from a beautiful lake. Bring your kayaks and enjoy the east Texas life for a bit!

Weekend Trip to Music Springs
We have been here a few times tent camping back in 2020 and we moved away from the area, now we are closer again and plan on spending more time here.
We were here for a quick stay for our wedding anniversary and stayed in the Tipi. It was fantastic and the host set us up a snack tray with drinks for the occasion.
You can't go wrong staying here in Music Springs.

Will and Austyn went above and beyond to share the history and beauty of family land while also providing a safe haven of glam and convenience to feel like you are amongst the wild but feeling safe, accepted and valued.
I grew up not far from here. And this area has always brought me back - despite my endless travels to find other semblances of home in nature or culture.
I recognize that the piney woods of East, TX have always been home to me and especially to the city girl that left when she was 18 for “more”.
The people here are family forward, embrace all things nature and have down home values - while also providing the land with as much nourishment as it gives us. And Will and Austyn are leading the path for generations to come.
They will let you be in solitude if you choose, but they can also be the best guides and companions for an unforgettable escape amongst the wild.
My heart is full and my friend list has grown. I will always go back.
But, I wouldn’t be able to say that if I never went in the first place. :)

Weekend Trip to Music Springs
This place is minimalist and exactly what we needed for a good value. Cute & cozy inside with good AC in the summer. The bathroom/showers are outside but easy to get to - just walk across a nicely tended grassy field. There's no sink inside, but there's a common "kitchen" area with microwave and big fridge/freezer. There is a grill & campfire, but I decided to use my own camp stove. We enjoyed the outside games like tetherball, frisbee, and a first attempt at disc golf. We enjoyed the prayer path trail as well. The host was responsive to questions & feedback.

Loved staying here it is a very beautiful and peaceful place. I enjoy sitting in the hot tub, sitting by the fire and taking my dogs for long walks. In the day time I enjoyed fishing and swimming only about 10 min away. I would recommend this place and love to come back!

We loved the that it was spacious both inside and outside! The firepit was a big plus for us we loved sitting outside and visiting around it. The owners had many games you can play plus canoes with the life jackets and ores. Jacksons Ranch Marina is only about 5 miles away and they offer boat tours along with fishing guides. It’s a beautiful area I encourage ya’ll to go and have a sleepover with your friends and family

Weekend Trip to Glamping Remote
Had a great stay at one of the Geo domes at Will and Austin’s campgrounds. They have a nice large well kept campground with other available lodging options such as A-frame cabins, tiny homes, and safari tents. Nicely decorated and furnished rooms that elevated the glamping experience. Stayed 2 nights with my significant other and our little pup. Such friendly and welcoming hosts, we will definitely stay again when visiting east Texas.

Weekend Trip to Glamping Remote
Our dome was cozy and complete with everything we needed, bed was comfy and parking and bathroom were situated nearby. We can’t wait to come back and explore the area and stay longer. Austyn and Will are excellent hosts and the entire vibe of the property is excellent.
