Grab the overalls and lemonade, ‘cause Tongue River is the capital of no-frills summer fun. Tongue River is also where fishing and boating enthusiasts from Montana and Wyoming get down to business—fishing around these parts takes itself seriously. The reservoir, a scenic stretch of 12 miles that winds lazily through red shale and juniper canyons, is a refreshing oasis in the middle of prairie land. If you’re looking to return home with a record-breaking catch, Tongue River is the place to go for bass, crappie, and walleye. Rest your pole for a few hours of waterskiing or windsurfing on the calm blue waters of Montana’s best prairieland watering hole.
