Joe was known for his friendliness, hospitality and wild stories.
Today you might find much of the same. From Joe’s day to today it is a place where families come together to get away.
The Ute Lodge is now owned by Karl and Mona Maser who celebrated 20 years of ownership summer of 2019!
All summer our cabins are filled with guests from all over the US as well as international travelers. One of our favorite things about the summer is our weekly potlucks where we all share an outdoor meal. All of our visitors have a standing invitation to join us around the community campfire at night.

Amenities:
Kitchen: The yurt comes equipped with a two-burner propane cook stove. ( Pot, Pans, Dishes, Silverware, Measuring cups, cooking utensils, water and coffee cups, coffee percolator and filters, paper towels and trash bags, soap, scrub pads, and cook Spices).
Lighting: The yurt comes with a solar light system and USB charge ports. Power is limited and lighting takes priority.
Sleeping: The yurt is equipped with 2 bunk beds. 2 twins. 1 twin xl and 1 full size.
Heat: A wood stove and firewood is provided
Water: Water is by snowmelt. There is 1 large pot, to put on the woodstove to melt snow for cooking, drinking, and doing dishes. It is recommended that water is boiled before ingestion.

We are located 4 miles from Routt National Forest. You'll arrive at the ranch headquarters and we will either take you to the sheep wagon or give you directions to it. The sheep wagon is nestled in an Aspen grove (on 56 acres) with a creek just 12 feet away. From there, you are 1/4 mile away from the national forest and the wilderness. There are thousands of acres to explore, either by hiking , biking or horseback riding. You are also just minutes away from great trout fishing lakes and streams. We had a lovely time in this A frame Cabin! Directions to the cabin are very clear, and I was welcomed upon our arrival. The short walk from parking is close to the amenities like the shower house and composting toilet, but far enough into the trees to feel private. The wood stove was an absolute win, as it made our winter camping feel luxurious and cozy. Our dog happily laid by our side while we played card games by the warmth of the fire. This was the best way to unplug without giving up comfort. Honestly cell reception at the cabin was a little too good considering that purpose. We only wish we had more time to spend at this site. We spent a lot of our stay in steamboat springs, so unfortunately we did not get the opportunity to use the outdoor firepit and cook set up.
Everything worked very well for the two of us, and there are lots of beds for a larger group. I anticipate the loft bedroom may be too firm for the average guest, and probably still quite cold in the winter. There is lots of cookware provided, but you may need more cutlery if in a larger group. The wood stove also might be tough for anyone with asthma or respiratory sensitivities, as we had to keep a window open to try to alleviate the smoke smells even after adjusting all of the vents on the stove.

Love loVE LOVED! This hands down one of the best hip camps I've been too. We did the roundhouse. Stunning views all around. Highly recommend making it to rainbow lake if you can. Moderate hike.

Moose Haven was the perfect remote getaway - my dog didn’t want to leave! It was nice being in close proximity to so many trails, but the cabin was also great for a cozy place to read, watch hummingbirds, and relax. I also appreciated the trails recommendations from Patrick and plan to come back to explore them!

All set up with linens, towels, soaps etc. clean and neat. Tiny kitchen. Don’t plan big dinners. There is a grill and propane. No inside table. Small sofa. Very nice loft sleeping area. Bed is very comfortable. Slept great! Bathroom is tiny but fine. No more than 2-3 people for sure. Campground is adorable! Looks like a Western town with all the different tiny homes. Nice outdoor fire pit for all to use. Definitely highly recommend.

We had the most incredible stay at Boyer YL Ranch in Wyoming! We stayed in the historic barn loft and it was absolutely magical—full of charm, peacefulness, and the perfect mix of rustic and comfortable.
The host was so kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. Our kids especially loved playing in the river just steps from the loft and discovering books in the little lending library. It felt like stepping into a slower, more beautiful way of life. We even saw a moose just steps from the barn!
We left feeling refreshed, connected, and already planning our next visit. Couldn’t recommend it more—we will definitely be going back!

Such a great getaway with AMAZING hosts and views! Mosquitoes were abundant over 4th of July weekend, but between citronella candles and DEET bug spray it was more of a nuisance than a deal killer. Highly recommended, and can’t wait to come back when the aspens change!!

Beautiful land! The accommodations, although rustic, were very nice. There was just myself and my husband and four small pups, but can accommodate many people. It was very secluded and remote which is what we wanted for the weekend. The shower was a very pleasant surprise! Was easy to communicate with Kelly and her husband came to show us around for check in. Would definitely come back!

We loved the whole cabin experience. View from the cabin was incredible, the wood stove made me feel like I was in a movie, and the walks through the snow lined paths and roads surrounded by beautiful forest was amazing. Enjoyed cross country skiing, the snowmobile adventure provided by Welder Outfitting, and can't wait to come back in the summer.
