I recently fixed up our old 1949 tear drop camper for staying in after it had been abandoned for 30 years. It’s equipped with solar power, a gas burner, a pump sink, and a cooler.

Rumor has it our house was built by the famed western actor Alan Ladd as a secret getaway back in the 50s. There’s 5 acres, partly shaded by old mesquite trees and native Washingtonia palms that tower over rock lined paths. I recently fixed up our old 1949 tear drop camper for staying in after it had been abandoned for 30 years. It’s equipped with solar power, a gas burner, a pump sink, and a cooler.
This is a place for people that love old stuff! No marble countertops and stainless steel will be found. For lovers of the funky. There’s an outhouse, an outdoor shower, and a 9 foot deep swimming pool too. See a legal cannabis farm in action at all times of the seasons while sleeping in a fully functioning 2023 Jayco farmhouse edition camper. The camper has a new Queen bed, electricity, refrigerator, running water, wi-fi, heater and air conditioning. For cooking there are options such as the kitchenette in the camper, outdoor grill and camp stove with a flat grill. There is a fire pit stocked with wood . We are located on the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation, make either a left or right from Hwy 79 onto Camino San Ignacio in Warner Springs, CA, keep to the left at the loop and drive out about 5 miles . Our first Hip Camp experience and Davida’s Happy Camper was just perfect! The RV was clean, quiet and cozy. The bed was one of the most comfortable we’ve ever slept in. So many thoughtful amenities. The trailer was equipped with everything we needed and then some.
Plenty of firewood for our 4 night stay. We enjoyed our hikes exploring the property and refreshing soaks in the outdoor tubs in the afternoon.
Davida’s attention to detail and friendly, accommodating nature make her an exceptional host. She was delightful, as were her family and crew that we had the pleasure of interacting with during our stay. We are already planning our next visit.

Our family of four (two adults, one young child and one dog) had a great weekend trip. We camped during unexpected warm weather (85 degrees) and were pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the campsite was from the shade from trees, the breeze, and the provided small fan. We brought our own box fan as well which was helpful to keep mosquitos away too. In the evenings, the trailer was cozy with the provided space heater. Adequate hot water for us all for showers. We loved Laurie’s recommendation for making pizza on the grill and had a lot of fun doing so. We enjoyed the beautiful trails all around the campsite - the property is large and well-maintained. We didn’t utilize the yoga yurt, but it appeared well-equipped, clean and comfortable. The campsite host, Jackie, was incredibly hospitable and helpful. We hope to stay again!

The place itself is off of the main drag but still has houses around so not completely remote. The van is cozy, had all necessities, and the tub was perfect. I brought tapestries/blankets for extra shade and made more privacy for the little toilet on the porch of the truck which was perfect. Stargazing was lovely. Really great!

We had such a great stay at Camp Chester with our three little ones! The scenery was beautiful and peaceful, and there was plenty for us to do without ever feeling crowded. We loved exploring the hiking trail nearby. It was manageable with kids and made the whole trip feel like a little adventure! My kids literally played from sun up to sun down!
One of our favorite parts was the outdoor setup. Having access to coffee in the morning and a fun outdoor grill kitchen made everything so easy and enjoyable. It felt like camping but with the perfect thoughtful touches. Not to mention the beautiful outdoor bath house! The best!

My family and I had such a great glamping experience at Mojave Country Club. Our family of 3 stayed at the Cactus Jack and had access to all the amenities one could ask for a memorable family road trip. We really appreciated the desert chic theme, it really elevated the space and overall experience. The open space, activities for all ages, proximity to Joshua Tree National Park and the best view of the night sky right from outside of our yurt. It was simply a magical a place to disconnect from rest of the world and enjoy with my favorite people. Dayne and his daughter are also great hosts and super responsive. We’ll definitely have to plan for a return trip soon.

1 night at Our Desert Domestead
What a great stay! The bed was comfy, the stargazing was incredible, the fire pit was a great touch. We didn’t get to use the grill, but everything we would have needed was there. 10/10 recommend staying here.

3 nights at The Happy Camper
Davida was a wonderful host. The campsite was quiet and cozy, perfect for stargazing. The trailer itself had everything we needed - just don't expect a full hotel room. The large outdoor area is covered in turf, which helps reduce dust. In addition to the toilet/shower in the trailer, the site has two bathrooms in an adjacent building, and I believe they are building an additional shower. One tip: use Google Maps to navigate to the property - Waze stops a few miles short.

Cool spot they have set up here! Lots of fun amenities and cool stuff nearby. Great location. Instructions on finding each yurt could be more clear, especially when arriving at night like we did. Bed was comfy. Thanks again! Will be back!

Camped at Mecca Beach campsite on a Saturday in June and nearly had the place to ourselves. Warm in the mornings and during the day but cooled down at night. Site was beautiful but once you walk toward the shores you get the dead everything smell. Campsites are far enough away from the water that its not a big problem. Be sure to take a day trip to Salvation Mountain.
