Visit our farm and feel ocean breezes, smell the salty air, hear the calls of owls, doves, and our ‘friendly fowl’, turkeys, ducks and chickens. Stroll the property (the orchard, see what we have planted in the field, seasonal high tunnel, pollinator meadow), help us with chores, sit around the communal campfire circle, take a historical tour with us, visit a local praise house, discover Gullah culture and traditions. We can show you our favorite fishing spots, where we volunteer in the community, teach you a few traditional Gullah/Geechee songs, and share our stories. Participate in events on the farm but most of all relax and enjoy being nestled in the woods of Morning Glory Homestead Farm.
We are Tony and Belinda Jones of Morning Glory Homestead, a small, 12.4 acre, sustainable farm. We returned to our family property to raise our five children and begin farming after Tony served 20 years in the military. We are nestled in a beautiful, subtropical, wooded area filled with Live and Water Oaks draped with moss, tall Loblolly Pines, magnificent glossy Magnolias, American Sweet Gum trees and fragrant Wax Myrtles. Our farm is on a tract of land that was at one time the McTureus Plantation, later bought by the Coffin Family and is a short drive to Coffin Point Plantation. Currently, we offer two sites. One is nearer the farm house and our field while the other is along the trail deeper in the woods.
The beach at Hunting Island State Park is only 5 miles away and there are wildlife viewing areas and boat landings all around the island. The Lowcountry is great for water sports, kayaking, boating, jet skiing, sailing and canoeing. Each season offers an opportunity to participate in fishing, crabbing, shrimping or digging for oysters in local waters. Explore the waters of the ACE (Ashepoo, Combahee and Edisto) Basin, the Port Royal Sound which is the estuary of bodies of water including the Broad and the Beaufort Rivers.
Our area is a favorite of cyclist groups, the long, flat, rural, scenic, roads offer pleasant riding experiences for cyclist of all ability levels. There are bike lanes on many of the major roads. These roads double as great areas for hikers to explore the local historical buildings, flora and fauna. Other recreational activities in our area are geocaching, horseback riding, tennis, golf, rock climbing wall, beach volleyball, beachcombing, and birdwatching.
While here you can enjoy historical tours of Beaufort County’s earliest years of the Santa Helena colony in the mid 1600’s, the revolutionary war period, the pre-civil war and plantation time period and the antebellum, reconstruction history up to the Civil Rights visits of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Historic Penn Center. In January 2017, several historical locations in Beaufort County were established as the Reconstruction Era National Monument to include Darrah Hall on the Penn Center Campus, Brick Baptist Church both on St. Helena Island only a few miles from our farm.
It’s hard to say when is the best time of year to visit. There are a few special events throughout the year, Gullah Festival-May, Water Festival-July, Shrimp Festival-October, Beaufort Food Truck Festival-October, Soft Shell Crab Festival-April, Pat Conroy Festival-November, Heritage Days Festival-November, Night on the Town-December. There’s something for everyone.

Beautiful, quiet spot with as much privacy as
I could want, while allowing many opportunities to engage with the hosts and farm activities.
Wished I'd had more time to spend with Tony and Belinda. I respect and admire their commitment to their family and the local community, as well as to social justice on a larger scale. Their farm''s website and facebook page provide a window into some of their projects. With their responsiveness, hospitality and warmth, I wouldn't have guessed how very busy these people are.
Blessings and all the best to Friendly Fowl Farm (Morning Glory Homestead).
Quiet, peaceful site, wonderful hos
Belinda and Troy were so warm and welcoming! I felt right at home tucked away in the corner of their property under the mossy oaks. It was a good location, close to hunting island and not too far from Walmart if I needed anything. They have a beautiful homestead and are eager to share it with others! In the evening, after a long nap, I woke to the hosts by the fire, guitar in hand singing songs. Experiences like this are why I travel. I will be going back!! Highly recommend
Great site for new campers
Mrs. Belinda and Mr. Tony were excellent hosts! This was my 6 year olds and husband’s first time camping so I wanted to be at a location that was easy to setup and this truly was. A tent and grill were made available to us along with a lovely farm tour and campfire dinner/stories inspired by Gullah culture. We also spent part of a day at the nearby Penn Center and Hunting State Park which has a beautiful lighthouse and beach. This was truly my favorite camping trip. Thank you!
Belinda and Tony were amazing hosts. We arrived and were welcomed with a fire roaring and a few close friends of theirs ready to share a good meal and stories of the island.
The following day, we were woken up with fresh eggs and shown around the farm - you wouldn't believe how many "friendly fowl" came to greet us! After some conversation, we made our way to the local library, which has tons of history about the island.
We had such a great experience, and look forward to visiting again (:

Great quick trip
Great hosts! Perfect directions to site. Nice privacy.
We were a group of 4 with our dog.
We opted to order a loaf of their delicious homemade bread, and a load of firewood.
Would recommend for others!
A welcoming lowcountry retreat
I enjoyed three nights at the farm. Belinda is very responsive to booking requests and messages. When I arrived, Tony greeted me and showed me to the campsite. With the nighttime lows in the 30s, he got a campfire started for me and left me plenty of wood. I enjoyed a homecooked dinner and great company with Belinda, Tony, and some of their friends on my second night on the farm. Stargazing is great, as once night falls it is totally dark. The location is especially nice because it is very much in the country, but in 20-30 minutes one has all the modern conveniences/restaurants/etc of Port Royal and Beaufort. Would definitely stay again and recommend.
Wonderful experience at Belinda and Anthony’s farm. They were both lovely people, super accommodating, and a wealth of local knowledge. Didn’t explore the farm too much beyond the site, which is pretty secluded, gorgeous - just what we were looking for. Thanks so much y’all!
Great private site
We had a lovely quiet stay. There are great walks in the area, and it is quite close to downtown Beaufort as well. We felt welcomed, and would certainly camp here again if we were in the area.
Low country camping at its best
Beautiful place!!!! Not only was I excited for the fact that the price was right with right location, the natural beauty of the place was phenomenal! We arrived after dark so the drive up to the house can be a bit scary for some of you tender folks but don't let that fool you. The stars were sparkling like crazy through the Southern oak trees with Spanish moss. The site came with a portable toilet which was interesting to use but very functional. Miss Blenda had the fire going for us and fire wood provided! We are so used to roughing it so this was one of the best camping experiences we've ever had! Waking up with roosters crowing with cute animals to play with was the cherry added on top!
