We have seen many animals on the trail cameras we have up, we hope you enjoy our paradise as much as we do.Learn more about this land:The land is split down the middle by a creek, the front portion has recently been cleared aside from large trees. Bruce鈥檚 Land

5 sites 路 Lodging, RVs, Tents12 acres 路 Hawkins, TX
Our homestead is a few acres in East Texas, near Hawkins. The land has been untouched for about 30 years, maybe last used for cattle grazing. We're keeping the property as natural as possible, we live here off-grid and off-pipe. There鈥檚 a 17 acre lake that we share with neighbors. It鈥檚 full of bass, bluegill, crappie and catfish, we encourage catch and keep fishing since the lake could use a little fishing pressure. We also have a beaver pond, and resident beaver. Some of the wildlife we see regularly: fireflies, turtles, cardinals, bluejays, hummingbirds, kite birds, frogs, opossums, armadillos, beaver, river otter, road runners and rabbits. These plants live here too: Beautyberry, Dewberry, Pokeberry, Sparkleberry, Dogfennel, Dogwood, Yaupon Holly, Holly, Wax Myrtle, Sassafras , Lyreleaf Sage, Carolina Crane鈥檚 bill, Coral Honeysuckle, Western White Honeysuckle, Smooth Cat鈥檚 Ear, Daisy Fleabane, Prairie Onion, Mullein, Summer Grape, Water Lily. The entire water lily plant is edible, did you know? Swim, hang out, cool down on the small swimming dock. Canoe and kayak included! Based on shared availability, we have 1 two person canoe, and 3 kayaks for use on our lake free of charge. There are smaller size adult life jackets and oars/paddles. Bring your own life jackets for kids. Contrary to local rumor lol, we are not a 鈥渘udist resort鈥. But it is true that one of our campsites is very private, so one could dress any way they wanted while at that campsite. About the Bees Please do not bring or use any insect killer or insect repellent other than what you apply to your own body. We have several honey bee colonies living here and our neighbor keeps bees as well. For the safety and health of our bees, the use of man made insect killers or repellents on the ground, in the air or on the foliage is absolutely not allowed. One natural remedy is diatomaceous earth. Sprinkled on the ground, it does a good job at keeping ants and crawling creatures away. Brookshire's in Hawkins less than 4 miles away if you need supplies. Verizon, ATT users have cell coverage here, no signal for T-Mobile users. LGBTQ+ friendly.

Coyote Campground

6 sites 路 Lodging, Tents14 acres 路 Lindale, TX
I4 acres with spring-fed creek, just a few minutes from Lindale restaurants and supplies. For more info about the tiny house or yurt rentals, please inquire. It has extended acreage with multiple ecosystems. I just found a spring and will be doing livestock. I just built an outdoor kitchen area and camp shower (need propane tank). There is an RV plug, electricity, and a water hose. There is a garage on the property that should remain locked; if you have an ATV or something you want to lock up, we can discuss garage access if need be (for a fee). You will need 4-wheel drive for the lower parts of the property, but the top has water and electricity, and any car will be fine. As this is an outdoor area, there are poisonous bugs and snakes. I have never had a problem, but this is notice that you agree to assume all liability and responsibility for your party by camping at this property.

The best camping near Lake Bob Sandlin State Park guide

With a name like Bob, you'd think this is a ho-hum location. Or, maybe the fishing is great. Well, the second part is correct. Drive about 10 miles south of Mount Pleasant to this 641-acre wilderness park. The lake is 9,000-surface acres in northeast Texas.

BYOB (bring your own boat) to explore cozy inlets and find your perfect fishing spot. There's Lake Cypress Springs and Lake Monticello, too, for triple the fishing fun. If you didn't bring a boat, the fishing pier offers a chance to get in deeper waters. Anglers love catching largemouth bass, catfish, and crappie.

An old-growth forest gives way to prairie and grasslands. As such, you can see an interesting mix of wildlife here. Around 3.3 miles of trails let you walk or bike. Fall time is great because the huge trees turn red, yellow, and orange.

Up to 75 first-come, first-served campsites with water and electricity. Nine of them are by the water's edge. There are 16 rustic, hike-in campsites.

Notable campgrounds

  • Waterfront Campsites: Wake up to serene lake views at one of the 75 campsites with water and electricity.
  • Screened Shelters: Enjoy a comfortable retreat from the elements in one of the park's screened shelters.
  • Primitive Campsites: For a more rustic experience, set up your tent at a secluded primitive campsite.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book early, especially if planning to visit during the busy season from March through October.
  • Check the park's reservation system regularly for cancellations to grab a spot.
  • Consider visiting during the off-peak season for better availability.
  • Explore nearby camping options if the park is fully booked.

When to go

The best time to visit Lake Bob Sandlin State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the foliage is vibrant. The park's busy season runs from March through October, so plan ahead for larger crowds. Winters are quieter but can be chilly, and summers offer warm water activities but with higher temperatures.

Know before you go

  • Review water safety tips before engaging in any water activities.
  • Reservations are highly recommended to guarantee entry, especially during peak times.
  • Remember, you don't need a fishing license to fish from shore or pier in the park.
  • Check the National Weather Service forecast for the area before your visit.
  • Be aware of the park's office hours, from 8:15am to 4:30pm, and gate hours, from 6am to 10pm daily.
