2 acres on the water, great tent camping with access to amazing birding, botanical garden full of native plants, disc golf, horseshoes, outdoor kitchen, toilet, shower, wifi if you feel so inclined, and there is power at the outdoor kitchen (but not at the RV pads until further notice). The property is far enough away to get away but close enough to the island for a day's adventure. It's a little slice of heaven located in the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge.

CD&J Mini Ranch is a 35-acre farm and ranch in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas. We became Certified Naturally Grown and started thinking about and implementing ways to treat our land better. We raise and sell beef, pork, chickens, eggs, and seasonal vegetables. We are on a lake that normally has a lot of fish, but due to the extreme drought we have experienced, the lake is sometimes dry, but we still have excellent bird watching. It is the first time that our lake has dried up and it is definitely due to our extra hot and dry years.
We have a quiet place for you to rest and enjoy the sounds of our animals. Our camping spots are not close together like a regular campground, but you will be able to see and possible hear your neighbors when outside. We have picnic tables under shade trees and an available flushing toilet with sinks for those in smaller campers. No tents allowed at this time.
We really love what we do here at our mini ranch and hope you will too.

18 ft pop-up camper
This spot is beautiful! We loved hanging out with Brian on his beautiful huge pavilion looking out at nature. The birds are amazing. Unfortunately, they just had a huge rainfall of 14 inches, and the mosquitoes ate us alive. If it wasn't for the mosquitoes, this would have been one of our top places! Brian actually warned us, but we still went, and it was still a great trip!

Great tent camping site overlooking a small resaca. The shelter provides a great place to cook and eat out of the rain (and also provides electricity for charging devices.) Another couple was camping in an RV at the other end of the property but there was enough distance between sites that we rarely saw or heard them. We would normally camp in a state or county park but all the local options were crowded and noisy. Brian's place, by contrast, was very peaceful and private. We enjoyed seeing and hearing a lot of bird species. Pretty good stargazing as well.
