It's only a ten-minute drive to Pinconning, where you can experience Michigan's "Cheese Town" and all it has to offer. There's a grocery store, numerous cheese shops, and a variety of party stores and restaurants. For the outdoor enthusiasts, don't miss out on going to the ever-famous "Northwoods Wholesale Outlet". Also nearby is the "Saganing Eagles Landing Casino" in Standish. We have resided here for over 30 years and can assist you in many ways to get the most out of your visit.

This property was once part of an 80 acre farm. It has now grown into a mature forest with deer, turkey, squirrels, chipmunks, many types of songbirds and most recently a family of sandhill cranes. Our most recent improvement is an air conditioner in the Crow's Nest. Sheila grew up just across the road and spent many hours riding her horse and writing poetry on the property.
No discharge of firearms is allowed on this property.
As a retired artist, we love to entertain creative peaceful people and many think of our place as a quiet sanctuary that encourages creativity. We provide games, both outdoor and indoor, a screen house, hammock, nature trails and a new camp store with local items and snacks. There is an Amish community close by and a tour map is provided. We are also close to the largest canopy walk in the US at Whiting Forest and Dow Gardens. Only 25 minutes away. There is a small water park in the closest town with a beach. Locally there is tubing and canoeing at the Cedar River in Gladwin and kayaking at Pinconning Park on Saginaw Bay. Guests can explore many antique shops as well as Pinconna and Northwoods Outlet store. Many of our campers never leave the property but choose to relax and watch the life of the forest.

You can access the river from our canoe portage on the property. Good fishing, swimming or just hanging out. You can also canoe, kayak or tube beautiful Tobacco River or sandy Cedar River. Hike through the trails to get to the the enchanted cedar forest which is all located in the campground. We have an outdoor 250 inch screen where we project movies, concerts, games, interactive dance videos. For kids and adults, everyone leaves with a smile.

Remote private tract in northern Michigan with Portage Creek to camp at, right up close. No neighbors, no other campers! 10 miles from Grayling so you can run into town for needed supplies with little time or effort. Bring your kayaks and swimsuit for a quick splash. The creek is mostly shallow with some deeper spots. There are downed trees so the kids can kayak without going too far away but they can go out of line of sight and hearing, so please be watchful.
The last ½ mile road in can be very sandy in spots or sometimes flooded so you are encouraged to call or enquire prior to arrival, 4WD recommended for towing an RV. We recommend your first arrival during daylight hours so you can see the entrance of the property. The non-maintained county road, the last ½ mile in is typically not passable during winter and snow seasons except by snowshoe or snowmobile due to the snow level.
Never leave children or pets unattended! Be aware of the chance encounter with an endangered massasauga rattler, it may be endangered but it is still poisonous and they have been seen on and around the property before. Ticks are on the rise, and the springtime can be very buggy, and mosquito-y with the surrounding swampy areas. There are bear, coyote, and an assortment of other creatures big and small. This is a wilderness area and so please be aware of wild animals.
Never leave your small contained fire unattended at the firepit and watch for sparks, completely douse the fire before you leave as this is a fire-prone area. No fires outside the firepit for safety reasons and fire hazards. If you want firewood here in Grayling, there are a few places that sell it. There is down debris in our woods but as the summer goes by, it may be picked through.
You can pull and circle through the open area with your RV, or you can tuck into the RV / camping spot. There is enough room for 5 or 6 cars but campers may crowd that a bit. If you are tent camping, you are welcome to set up elsewhere on the property. There are trails throughout the property and you may see the ‘No Trespassing’ signs all along the perimeter of the 23.7 acres. The toilet is now working again, but we ask that you not overtaxed it ;p . The small cabin is fairly stocked with pots and pans, good for campfire cooking. Picnic table and fire pit with cooking grate on site for your use.
There are tons of nearby outdoor recreational opportunities and water bodies very close by, or you can spend your time on this private tract. The military board land and small arms range is just past the road to the west, you may hear small arms practice at times, the sound of freedom.

We are across the street from Little Long lake and right up the road from Budd Lake public boat launches. We have deeded lake access to Little Long Lake with use of our paddle boat and kayaks. We can provide parking with a boat, trailer, etc., but will need to be arranged prior to check-in.
There are several restaurants, delivery options, and a grocery store right down the road. There is also a putt putt golf, skiing and snow tubing at Snow Snake, arcade, batting cages, bowling, indoor golf, ax throwing, beaches and Wilson State Park.
If you have side-by-sides, quads, jeeps, snowmobiles, or dirt bikes, there are endless options with groomed trails in the area for you to ride all day long.
Our property has two cabins on property, the Harrison Hideaway cabin and Wanderer's Hideaway that can be rented together for larger groups or rented separately. Please message me if you would like to rent both cabins for you and your guests.

The cabin has propane lighting, propane refrigerator, an antique stove with burner tops, and a free-standing propane gas stove for crisp evenings. There is a small kitchen area with a sleeping loft above and a sitting/family area at the far end of the cabin. The kitchen is equipped with pots and pans, coffee pot, dishes, and misc. utensils. *Please bring your own linens, pillows, and water.
On the backside of the cabin, you'll find a peaceful sitting area with a firepit. When nature calls, there is a well-built outhouse that is available. There is also a large outdoor shower with heated water and a dressing area. There are trails that meander through the property for those who enjoy walking, biking, snowmobiling, or four wheeling. You won't find a more peaceful, tranquil property to relax in and enjoy the wildlife. Only 1.3 miles into Manton with several bars and restaurants. Within 3 miles you are able to gain access to State property, the Manistee River, and Chase Creek.
From the trails in this area you can go as far as Houghton Lake and Fife Lake. Great area for hunting, fishing, four wheeling, dirt bikes, and hiking. This is a great getaway you don't want to miss out on!

We also have mowed trails throughout our 120 acres for peaceful walks. The fifth wheel can accommodate up to 6 people comfortably. It includes A/C for hot days and heat for cool evenings.
The master bedroom has a comfortable king-size bed. The second bedroom has a couch that pulls out into a queen bed. The couch in the living area also converts into a queen bed. There is a fun loft that the kiddos will enjoy as their own private sleeping area.
The fifth wheel includes a full-size refrigerator/freezer. All cooking gear, towels, and bedding are provided. We have used the fifth wheel during the last three winters in Florida, so it is well-stocked with necessities.
There is a small Blackstone grill on-site, as well as a fire pit for roasting hot dogs and marshmallows. Firewood is provided. An outdoor table with four chairs is available, along with six camp chairs.
My “she shed/potting shed” is also available for guests. It’s a peaceful spot for reading on the little porch while enjoying a glass of wine. From the porch, you can see the small pond with a waterfall. Guests are welcome to sit inside and read as well.
Our friends always comment on how quiet it is here and how it feels like a “park-like setting.” Come check out our little piece of paradise in Northern Michigan!

We loved the spring water, river and views. The road noise was less loud where we camped down by the dock, but was still pretty loud. Other than that, it is a beautiful spot and we enjoyed ourselves!

Nice spot in the woods, we went on October and we were the only guests on property and overall had a great time. The owners are doing some construction projects on the property, not sure how the experience would be if all the sites are occupied.

Weekend Trip to Ricky’s Pine River hunt/camp
My son and I overnighted here after a long backpacking trip. Rick’s Cabin could not have been the more perfect place for this ole outdoorsman to stay. You really feel like you are the only one around for miles. The Cabin is constructed by Rick himself and is truly a great work of his craftsmanship. The front porch made it so easy to just relax with the beauty of the forest all around you. The Cabin was well thought out with minimal trees removed to keep it rustic and only what was absolutely needed. The inside was cozy and the beds were extremely comfortable. The wood burning stove set this cabin over the top for me. There’s nothing better. Simple and everything you need to escape the world around us. Thank you Rick for sharing this little slice of Michigan heaven with my son and I. Enjoyed meeting you.

Jose and Julie were excellent hosts! The campground was so well maintained and homey :). Every last amenity in the common area is super thoughtful, and you can tell they really like having guests.

Beautiful view, pretty quiet location for the most part. Can hear 127 slightly but no biggie. Very peaceful at night and the porta potty is a plus. The $5 wood. Bundles are nice seasoned large split lots as well. Will return again
