Sudden Valley Ranch is a peaceful paradise. This is a family farm - 138 acres with 1.5 miles of creek (the depth of the creek depends on Mother Nature - but you can typically find a swimming hole year round). There are woods, hills, ridges and open pastures/hay fields; we sit in a large valley with beautiful views. We have horses, chickens and barn cats. We have a large seasonal garden. You may see wild life - deer, turkey, rabbits, hawks, eagles and raccoons.
We offer 3 rustic tent campsites that are separate and private from our home and each other (Up on the Ridge at SVRanch, Pasture and Creek at SVRanch, and Hideaway Ridge at SVRanch). You may easily walk or drive to the campsites. Each campsite has a private outhouse, and a fire ring with an ample supply of wood. You have access to fresh well water through a spigot that is within walking distance to each camp. We have a four-man tent available for a fee. Ticks are a concern during the month of June - you may want to bring bug spray.
Warrenton is located about 30 miles north of Washington, Missouri. Washington is a quaint town located on the Missouri River with several wineries in the surrounding area. We are also about 24 miles north of Marthasville where you can ride the Katy Trail. Hermann, Missouri is 34 miles southwest of us - another quaint town whose seven wineries produce about one-third of the state's wine. Big Joel's Safari and Long Row Lavender farm are both located in Wright City less than 10 miles away.
Come and relax, read a book, draw/sketch/paint, or simply let the sounds of nature lull you to sleep. We believe you will leave rejuvenated!

SVRanch is a well kept and beautiful property. The site on Hideaway Ridge is large, private, and well shaded. Our group spent hours exploring the property and skipping rocks down at the creek. The views of the Eastern ridge at dusk capped off each amazing day. What a great place to camp!
Perfect balance of privacy and helpful availability. Randy and Milissa were respectful of my COVID risk but made sure I had everything I needed. I was on a tight schedule for this trip, but this location would be lovely to spend an extra day to relax, and this site is set up perfectly to accommodate families looking for an outdoor weekend getaway. Will definitely stop here again!
SV Ranch has thought of every detail. The property is beautiful, well laid out, quiet and has horses. The touches that the owner has thought of and provided for we’re even more unexpected. The motion-activated lights on the way to and inside the outhouse, as well as the towel to wipe condensation off the toilet seat were great. They even provide fire starting and cooking implements for the fire pit with a grill. Could not have asked for more. Will definitely stay there again.

Randy and Milissa were great hosts, and the location was great! They even went out of their way to grab a stove propane tank that I had forgotten, and they were very responsive. Everything was clean, including the outhouse, and the firewood and cooking utensils were a huge plus. The kids loved the dogs and horses. We definitely plan to go back.
We just stayed a night at SVRanch on January 13th, so right in the middle of winter. My family and I were taking our camper out West and just wanted to have reliable campgrounds each night since it was winter, and we had a 1-year-old and dog with us. We arrived after sunset but Randy kept in great communication with us along the way, even sending recommendations of where to grab dinner before we arrived. Once we arrived, he showed us how to get to our campground and gave a little history of the farm. Super friendly! The campground was one of the best we've stayed at before. They had solar lights leading to and inside the outhouse, which was extremely nice. They also had a rock fire pit, a big table, and an area with a first aid kit, guest book, etc. We had to leave around sunrise to keep going West but the farm was absolutely beautiful as we drove out. Would definitely come back and stay here again!

I wanted to sneak in a weekend of camping before it got too cold and this was the perfect place. Randy kept an eye out for me when I arrived to direct me to the campsite ticked off into a wooded corner up on a hill with a good view of the ranch. As promised, there was plenty of picnic table space, plenty of room for our tents, a clean well-lit outhouse, a cabinet filled with odds and ends (including a first aid kit) and a huge fire pit. We were set and felt very secluded, so we could stay up late listening to music and enjoying a large fire. The next day we got to meet the horses, walk the grounds, check out the creek, and see the barn cats and chickens.
This was my first experience car camping NOT at a public park campsite and it is way way worth it. The provided firewood alone makes it a better value, you’re away from people, and scenery is excellent and the amenities are above and beyond.
11/10, highly recommend. Will be back eventually to check the other campsites out. Thanks Randy and Milissa!
This place is a dream!
The property is so beautiful and well maintained. The campsite felt super private up on the ridge, and there was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the surrounding hills. The horse pasture (right on the other side of the fence) provided some amazing views as the sun was setting.
We really enjoyed talking to the hosts when we first got there! Randy and Milissa were super sweet, we can't wait to come back!

The Hideaway at SV Ranch is absolutely incredible! The campsite is secluded, beautiful, and well-appointed. The privy is amazing!!! We had the BEST time!!! Thank you, Randy and Milissa!
