A bit different than expected but that was mostly my fault. Clean area, small single bathroom but was clean besides some bugs. Would stay again if in the area made for a fun quick weekend away with the kid.

Amazing and secluded campground!!!

Absolutely outstanding! We arrived late the first night, and our camp host was there and waiting, and generously helped back in our rv, since only half of our party was able to make it up the first night! He was extremely helpful and around and on the property most of the time cleaning and fixing it up! Beautiful small secluded campground, great if you're looking for water, fishing, trails, atv spots, and enough space to have pets and kids!! We will definitely be back to this spot in the future! Beautiful spot and can't wait to see it grow and develop the next time we come out to visit!! Thank you so much for an amazing getaway for our family!

Site 11 - Riverbend Primitive Plus

The pretty bird singing was an amazing way to wake up each day! We stayed at Site 11 which is a "primitive" tent camping spot, but with great wifi access included, I'm not sure how primitive it is, haha! There is a shower house, more of a shed. It has one toilet and one shower. It is clean and nice. I would recommend placing your used tissue/toilet paper in a trashbag and not the toilet because it is a country septic system. The terrain is steep and rocky at times, just be careful to watch your footing and remember, you are on top of a Missouri "mountain". It's going to be hilly. We saw deer, turkey, lizards, eagles, hawks, fish, turtles, dragonflies, butterflies, and hummingbirds. We are so so grateful to Steven because Riverbend is truly magical!!! We did endure the rain, but everything dried up pretty quickly. There is a Dollar General not too far, but outside of that it will be about 30 minutes to town so get what you need beforehand. At the tent site, there were shade trees (such big, beautiful trees), a picnic table (loved it!), and a fire ring (perfect to cook on, we brought grates). There was some rocks under the tent, but nothing too bad at all, we laid a tarp under our tent and we were good to go. Definitely recommend keeping yourself protected from bugs, you'll be in nature so we're technically in their home. I'm so happy we found this nice, quiet gem of a place. Thank you, Steven, we look forward to returning!

We weren't able to stay there due to the struggle of the terrain to get in and out comfortably (it was due to rain that night). While scenic, there was a water crossing and significant sand to get to the site. We were riding motorcycles and I felt it would be too sketchy trying to leave the following day.

We had an amazing stay on Steven’s land!! We had issues getting to the site, and Steven was super easy to get ahold of and gave us great directions. The site was beautiful, and we had a great time visiting Ha Ha Tonka State Park.

I enjoyed how quiet it was, and the hike to see the creek was awesome and relaxing by the creek. Owners were very helpful and nice. My family enjoyed the place.

Gorgeous place to camp and explore

This property is so gorgeous. That was my favorite part. Steven was super nice and available to help out. And, I appreciated the bathroom. Keep in mind you'll drive on a gravel road for 4 miles. We didn't notice that part until we saw it on Google Maps. Ha Ha Tonka State Park is less than 10 miles away.

Site 4 - Riverbend Campground

Beautiful property off the beaten path. Nice amenities such as WiFi, picnic tables, fire rings and bath house. Amazing host who was very responsive. We were the only campers so we had to place to ourselves. The spots are close together so it may have felt a little tight had the campground been full, but we had a great experience.

It has a beautiful view, nice hookups and it's close to the beautiful Niangua river. We spent one afternoon hiking at HaHa Tonka state park. That was a great experience.

I loved my stay! It was quiet with beautiful views. Not hard to get to. WiFi was the best we’ve ever had. Bathroom and shower were clean and very nice. Great place to get away and relax!

Site 11- Riverbend Primitive

My experience at Riverbend was not a very pleasant one. Bad timing on my part mostly. It's fairly close to HaHa Tonka State Park which was amazing and that day was a warm sunny day, otherwise early April was bad planning. My dog and I were the only ones in the campground which made it a little scary. Never saw another person the whole time. The water faucet on my reserved site was busted and sprayed the whole time I was there. Couldn't use it but I was able to fill my holding take instead. I came in from the east off D Hwy. No matter which way you come in you're going to be on gravel for a while. The campground is up a very steep hill although it was well graded and in good condition. Needed four-wheel drive and low gear pulling my camper up. Coming in from the west is also part gravel which is not a problem although you will go through two water fords and cross the narrow, no railings Whistle bridge over the Niangua River. I preferred the way I came in from the east. Had four days reserved and ended up forfeiting the last day due to storms moving in. Spent part of my last full day in my truck for safety during the storm and wind on that hill. I did walk down to the river the first day. It's a very steep, rocky walk and not real close to the campground. Being early April It was in bad shape with downed trees blocking the river and a washed out bank. Again, later in the year I'm sure it's quite a different experience. The timing of my trip was bad.

Awesome place! I am very satisfied with my stay, I was fortunate to book on a slow weekend so I enjoyed a lovely weekend on a peaceful hilltop. Me and my family visited the Ha Ha Tonka State Park, which was a convenient distance. Fire ring, shower, and bathroom were all up to standard.

First trip to Missouri.

Entrance was very easy to find and loved the lighting at the entrance. Also the restroom/shower was very clean and much appreciated. Steven was on hand to greet us and had delivered some firewood to our site prior to our arrival. Couple notes, numbered markers would have been very helpful. Especially when arriving in the dark after a 9 hour drive. Not really any plat spots near our site to pitch a tent. Overall experience was pretty good. And I will definitely recommend to my family and friends.

It was a good place to stay! I loved how close it was to Ha Ha Tonka and how quiet the area was. I saw several deer and could hear geese and coyotes. The shower/bathroom was clean and a hot shower was perfect after a long day. The only downsides are that some of the spots are not level, the trail to the river is short but pretty steep with loose rocks, and if they were busy the rv spots would be a little close together for my taste. Otherwise great place, I’d definitely stay again!

The drive in was dark so when I woke up, I was pleasantly surprised by how pretty the land was. Steven met us at the entrance and showed us the spot, made sure we were comfortable, gave a little backstory of the campground. Thank you Steven!

The campsite was great! Lots of space, Lots of privacy, close to the river and the state park. Would go again. The bathroom had an actual toilet and shower. The property looked nice and I felt safe. The host was responsive and kind. The only drawbacks: the specific area we pitched our tent was on a rocky area with about 1 inch of dirt, so stakes didn't go in well, especially in the wind, and we saw about 50 spiders on our tent under the trees which was expected. We also encountered a snake, but it was friendly. Would definitely recommend if you don't mind little insects and creatures :)

Great camping experience!

We did tent camping and came in a little after dark. Steven was quick to help us find our campsite and get us wood. During the stay we were able to get in touch with him quickly if needed. The campground was beautiful at night; we could see so many stars. When we woke up, it was even more beautiful because of the scenery. The foliage on the trees and the surrounding hills was breathtaking. We met family friends there and all the kids were able to explore and had a great time. We went down to the river, it was a little steep but once we were there, we had a great time. I would definitely recommend this campground to any friend.
