Rainbow ridge itself is largely comprised of the three houses on property as well as the surrounding woodlands. Its area spans fifty acres of elevated terrain surrounded by a forest creek (where crawdads can be found). The camping area is on about five acres of the property and is populated by alders and evergreens, making it a wonderful place to connect with nature. It's a beautiful area sure to soothe the soul. A short but captivating nature trail is open to campers who are interested in a walk up the gentle hill. We do have a worm composting toilet and water available for washing. A new hot shower will be available. A couple of more sites are in the plans. Nearby is the quaint town of Montesano. Lake Sylvia is there for those looking to discover one of our lovely state parks. Closer by, there is a river with boat launch that runs down and through Montesano for people who want to swim, fish, float, or boat. Montesano's central location in Grays Harbor allows it to serve as a wonderful base of operations for those looking to explore more of the coast, and northwestern peninsula. The way up to Rainbow Ridge is a short winding driveway of somewhat steep grade, delivery trucks have no problems, so if you have a small camper or less, you should be fine.

#3 Creekview Glade is the largest camp site available, coming with a metal fire pit, picnic table, and a view of the creek below. The serenity of this glade is unmatched and its level ground has enough space to allow up to three tents depending on their size. A small bush centered on the site allows for an enhanced sense of privacy. A cedar railing pulls the site together, and also allows you to tie off any accompanying pets.

#4 Camp Clearsky is one of our larger sites, this clearing is mostly flat, contains a fire pit and can accommodate up to two tents. For those who enjoy some sunshine, this spot cannot be beat. A break in the canopy tops this area, while the surrounding brush provides some privacy from the neighboring sites. This camp’s size also allows it to host a RV of medium size, leaving space for a slide out.

Off the beaten path leading to the top of Rainbow Ridge, this campsite is perfect for those wanting a bit more space from other campers, accessible by 4WD vehicles, and with enough space for two tents, furnished with log stools. This vantage point makes it easy to overlook the whole of Rainbow ridge, while also providing a bit of a head start for those interested in hiking to the top of the hill itself.

Overall it was a good experience. The site itself was very cute and the host was friendly. The first night when we were the only campers was great. But the campsites were a bit close together so privacy was slim once our neighbors arrived, and noise carried easily between sites. There are also three homes within a stones’ throw of the campsite so it didn’t feel as immersed in nature as I was expecting. Our second night there was loud music and bass playing from one of the homes past midnight that kept our entire party awake. But it was a clean, safe place to sleep at night while we were in town to do other things.

Very cute area! No cell service but nice to unplug. Love that the host provides fire prevention (we did not have a fire but it was nice to see). Enjoyed one of the first showers. Download maps before you arrive for getting there and departing as the cell service was not available for Verizon or ATT. Host was very welcoming even though we booked 20 minutes before arriving.

I spent three quiet and restful nights in campsite #3 which was perfect for my 15’ travel trailer. There are 4 other campsites suitable for tents and small trailers or vans. The outdoor composting toilet was a plus and there are plans for an outdoor shower in the future. August’s property is located just outside the quaint town of Montesano and only 20 minutes from coastal communities and beaches. It worked perfectly as a base for exploration of the area’s amazing coastal communities and beaches.

We had a relaxing visit to Montesano thanks to August! It was easy to find the campsite, even in the dark. It was so peaceful and quiet- a perfect escape from the city. We would definitely come again!

The camp was well set up, except for the picnic tables and chairs. These tipped over when we sat on them which was dangerous. I have messaged the host but haven’t heard back - hopefully it’ll be fixed before you visit.

This was a beautiful site! I had planned on camping closer to the coast but every campsite was full so I booked this last minute and it was great! The site was gorgeous and quiet, I felt very safe. There were barely any bugs and the cute composting toilet was a plus

Car camping here was very straightforward. We ended up in site 2, not 4, since we were the only campers and the host said we could take our pick. Site 2 is in a copse of aspens and gave us some shade and privacy. Definitely bring your bug spray! Felt super safe. Zero issues. We had a fox visit at dawn while I was making tea, but it bolted when my dog spotted it.

We had a great experience camping here!! It was a beautiful and private location in the woods. Site #3 was by far the best location. Table and fire pit were well maintained. Directions were easy to follow. August greeted us and was very kind and welcoming. We will be back if we travel through this part of WA again.

Lovely property! Instructions to reach campsite were clear. Site was beautiful. Not a ton of privacy between campsites, but hosts have done their best to provide privacy. Site 3 had a large blackberry bush that creates privacy around the fire pit. The ground was level, and the view of the creek was beautiful. August and Tom came out to meet us and extended us so much kindness. The property is beautiful and it is clear how much August and Tom care for the property. Perfect stop between Olympic and Portland.

We stayed at creek view glade #3 for 2 nights. The camp was a little tight for our 22’ camper but we still had a nice stay and the large fire pit was great in the evenings. The property has a couple other sites and a central area for larger gatherings. Property also has a composting toilet with plans to add a shower and wash basin in the near future. There’s a few trails on the property which were nice to explore the area. August was incredibly kind and has plans to continue developing the property for larger camps with more privacy. We would stay here again.

Pretty easy to get to the property. Going up the drive, turn right just before the barn and you are there. All the sites are well spaced from one another, but there are no visual blocks. It is basically an open aspen glade. Quiet. I was the only one there that night. I would come back here for sure.

August is a wonderful and welcoming host. Her quiet piece of land, nestled in the woods makes an excellent place to lie and watch the stars. She invited us to join her and her friends for a fire, S’mores, and campfire songs. Turning a simple nights camp into an extremely special memory. Would love to camp on her property again!

Beautiful quaint camping near a trickling creek. Picnic table close to the fire pit was a perk for cozy meal preparation. Tent section was soft ground free of any rocks for great slumber.

It was a lovely stay on August’s property. It’s quiet and peaceful. The burn ban had just been lifted and they very generously offered me some wood and kindling. Even gave me some fruit from their small orchard. Will be staying here again!
