Bebrue was created in 1972 when 8¼ acres of natural bushland on the top of Mount Gibraltar (“The Gib”) at Mittagong was donated to the Girl Guides Association for the establishment of a camping and outdoors facility. Today, the site offers a well-protected camping facility set amongst beautiful, natural surrounds that are ideal for many activities. The adjacent north-east side of Mount Gibraltar offers walking trails to explore. The Mount Gibraltar Forest is significant due to its rarity, being identified as an endangered and threatened ecological community. The unique geology of the area supports a collection of flora that, as an assemblage, does not exist outside of The Gib. One very important resident of The Gib that you may meet is the extremely rare Powerful Owl. Bebrue is one of the largest privately own properties on The Gib and Girl Guides have always worked hard to protect the natural bush at Bebrue. Bebrue has also been recognised by the Mount Gibraltar Landcare and Bushcare Group as being an important local wildlife corridor. It is a member of Land for Wildlife. Bebrue is run by volunteers and all funds generated go back into improving the facility for use by the Girl Guides and wider community.

Hidden gem in Mittagong
Great camping spot. Although its nestled in Mittagong, you feel like your miles away. The site is surrounded by lush bushland and is very private. 2 flush toilets, 2 showers with hot water and several water taps located throughout the campsite. There is even power points in the main shed! Stayed 3 nights after recent week of rain- there were a few water run off areas but plenty of space to pick a dry and flat area to set up camp. Can get very cold overnight especially in July so pack accordingly! Access is fine with a 2wd- its really only a short hill down to the campsite which is a gravel track. Booking with Laura was a breeze, gets back to you quick and is helpful if you have any questions. On the day we met Vivianne who showed us around the campsite- also super helpful and a lovely person. Would recommend this campsite if you didn't want to venture far off the beaten track but still want a real camp experience, or to young families as the amenities and camp location might offer more peace of mind.

Tranquil Bebrue Campsite
Perfect spot and exactly what we wanted. So much space and so close to town but still feels like you’re SO far away from everything. The showers were great, hot water didn’t run out. Will definitely be back in the spring time!

Great bushcamp with facilities.
A beautiful bush site that has toilet, showers and a shelter. Just remember that power is not available on the camp sites. It was very cold the night we stayed. Vivienne was just great in introducing us to the site. Will definitely return when the temperature rises.

Tranquil Bebrue Campsite
Hidden gem.
Such a great little hideaway in cooee of all the civilisation anyone would ever need. Good to see this bush being maintained. Good facilities, and some useful undercover areas. Lovely host group, so helpful. A perfect spot to explore this spectacular part of the country.
