The Enchanted Circle Campground sits on the Avalon Ranch. It is 161 owned acres surrounded by a state trust lease. We are very proud to have been voted #1 Campground in NM 4 years in a row and ranked Top 5 by Forbes in the country. We have 8 Sites to choose from. (No large RVs at 4, 7 or 8) Campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. Free potable water is available as well as a portable toilet. For cooking, you will have a fire pit, with a cast iron grill. Every site (but 7) has a standing charcoal grill, with tongs, a spatula and a grill brush. A fire extinguisher and a shovel. We hang a hand washing jug at every site for your convenience, with potable water, but do not suggest this for drinking water source. The property was originally homesteaded in 1893. It was also the first potato farm in NM. It has seven ground-fed springs that run year-round and is officially the Coyote Creeks Headwaters. The springs converge after filling 4 of our ponds in the marshland where the potatoes were grown. A family of 4 lived in the first dwelling built here, not much larger than a shed. Since that time, 2 homes, 1 of which still stands, a barn, a smokehouse, and 4 other outbuildings were constructed. There are old wagons and farm equipment from the late 1800s and early 1900's still strewn about the ranch. We are home to Huge herds of Elk, mule deer, turkeys, prairie dogs, eagles, black bears, 9 horses, chickens, pigs, goats, our 2 dogs and 4 cats, and the occasional Mountain Lion. We live here year-round. We love our land and want to share it with others. I am a Veteran and our intent is to eventually have a Veterans Retreat facility here. Not a retreat itself, but rather a location for all of the retreats, nationwide, to be able to utilize, so they can use the funds they have to do what they do best. You are helping to make that possible. We do pride ourselves on minimally impacting our land. We strive to keep it clean and as close to nature as we can. And as always, Veterans, LEOs, and Fire Fighters are always free for one night up to 4 guests. Just book your reservation, and show us your ID during your stay, and we will reimburse you for your last night with us.

Site 4 "Lake View" (Old site 1)

100% (148)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 12 · Vehicles under 18 ft
Site 4 is our smallest and most romantic campsite, with the best view of the ponds, and a wonderful sunset spot. It is not large enough for any camper larger than 14ft due to the trees on the driveway loop. Only pop-ups, class A and teardrops are allowed here. It is best served as a van or tent site. There is a lovely pergola with a table and 4 chairs, near the standing charcoal grill and fire pit. There are plenty of benches, two Adirondack chairs overlooking the cliff and valley, and two hammocks. As always there are grilling tools, a cast iron grill on the fire pit, a shovel, hummingbird and bird feeder, wind chimes, a hand washing jug and trash can. There is a trailhead sign if you’re looking to do some beautiful hiking. This site is closest to the games area.

Site 5 "Valley View" (Old Site 2)

100% (134)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 24 · Vehicles under 45 ft
Site 5 has tons of flat room for tents and all vehicle types, with a large u-shaped drive through. There is a wonderful valley view, and you will probably see the horses daily. This site has a lovely pergola, picnic table, a standing charcoal grill, 2 fire pits with cast iron grill and shovel, grilling tools, 2 hammocks, hand washing jug, hummingbird and bird feeder, wind chimes and strategically positioned solar lights. We love the “secret” Fire pit just over the cliff, perfect for grownups, while the kids make s’mores or are asleep A great site for more than one trailer or RV, easily fitting 3- 45ft RV's with space to spare, or 3 different families and their tents. It is a great companion site for site 6 as well for those Large group gatherings.

Site 7 "The Pines"

100% (129)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 12 · Vehicles under 12 ft
Site 7 is urrounded by pine trees with a ton of room for tents and vans. 4wheel drive is suggested during rainy periods. The site itself is easy to manage, with wonderful flat areas, however the short road up to site 7 and 8 IS NOT CUT FOR RVS OR TRAILERS! We will turn you around and send you to the Monte Verde RV Park unfortunately, if we don't have anything else open. This secluded site has a lovely pergola, picnic table in the shade, a huge double fire pit with cast iron grill, grilling tools and shovel, fire extinguisher, plenty of fireside log benches, hand washing water jug, 2 hammocks, humming bird and bird feeders, wind chimes and amenities bag. This is the only site without a standing charcoal grill!

Site 1 is spot is great for larger groups and RVs. (This is our old site #5.) This site is intended for multiple RVs or large groups with multiple vehicles. It sits in the middle of a large open area, surrounded by Big Views of the surrounding mountains, great stars, and a few big trees. Site 8 "Cliffs"

100% (38)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 12 · Vehicles under 12 ft
Site 8 is the most private site we have. Located on the cliff above the sweat lodge. You can explore the epic rocks around this site and find all sorts of cool things… and one of the locations from Amazon’s “Outer Range”. Absolutely NO LARGE RVS OR TRAILERS. This is a tent, van, small pop-up or class C only. We strongly recommend 4WD during rainy periods. The road going up to Sites 7 and 8 was not cut for RVs and trailers. We will turn you around and send you to the Monte Verde RV Park. There is no pull through driveway at the site and limited parking. This site has a lot of tent space and sunshine, surrounded by trees and cliffs. There is a lovely pergola (standard with grill tools, fire extinguisher, hand washing water jug, and amenities bag) a picnic table, log benches, a huge fire pit with cast iron grill and shovel, a standing grill, 2 hammocks, hummingbird feeder, bird feeder and wind chimes. As always we have solar lights strategically placed at tripping hazards and trees. Also a good site if you’re bringing dogs that might be scared of horses, they don’t go up there much.

Site 3 “The Ridge"

98% (28)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 20 · Vehicles under 45 ft
Site 3 sits atop the Ridge and overlooks everything. Wonderful stargazing and sunset spot. One of the spots used by Amazon Prime for the show "Outer Range". It is a mixture of all of the sites and is great for Large groups, or cozy couples. Great for all vehicle types and tents, capable of fitting 3 or 4 large RVs and is a great location for larger groups. Across the road from the games area, and the first site past the water fill station. You have an excellent sunset and star gazing spot, with a great amount of privacy from the road. There is a lovely pergola with picnic table, grilling tools, cast iron grill in a double fire pit, shovel for the fire, standing charcoal grill, 1 hammock, log benches, hand washing jug, trash can, hummingbird and bird feeder, wind chimes and strategically placed solar lights. A few seasoned ECC; vets have dubbed it the 'Best Spot', we honestly still can't decide though... They are each so unique and present a different experience overall. We encourage you to try them all!

Enchanted Circle Campground offers campers a blend of tranquility and adventure, set amidst stunning New Mexico wilderness. The campsites are spacious and well-equipped, complete with amenities like fire pits, hammocks, and clean porta-potties. Visitors appreciate the privacy and seclusion, while still being within a short drive of local attractions. However, some have noted the lack of showers and commented on the price, but the overall experience remains highly praised.
