We had a wonderful time camping at Chree and her family’s property! We stayed here for the UTBS festival, which we attend and camp for every year, but this was our first time camping with Chree. Not only was their property absolutely stunning, but they were also more than welcoming and generous to all of us campers- from complimentary breakfast and much-appreciated showers, to wonderful conversations, rides to the venue (!!), and even some puppy snuggles! They had the space and opportunity to really pack in us campers, but they chose not to, which truly added to our experience. We loved getting to know our small crew of camp neighbors, watching the wild turkeys roam around the grounds (including a mama with her brood), and enjoying the beauty of the property- including the heavenly shade provided by the trees!! We are so grateful for Chree and her family’s hospitality, and hope to include camping with them as part of our annual trip tradition, if they’ll have us!

I loved boon-docking in my van on Chree and Steve’s land! It’s the perfect amount of shade coverage while also giving my solar panels some sunshine to recharge. They were the best hosts, offering breakfast and helping to figure out transport over the the Under the Big Sky music festival. They had set up some toilets and showers for us all to use during the weekend (even had hot water in the showers!). Couldn’t believe how much fun it was to stay with them! Will be back for future years of fun at the festival!

Good location in shadow of trees. Private and quiet.
Plenty of room for multiple campsites. Clean portapotties. Option for showering. Very respectful campers. Camp spots had shade available which was great considering it was smoking hot. Host provided an excellent spread for breakfast and drinks which was super nice.

The property was great! Lots of room to choose a spot and the area was quiet and shaded. Even with many other groups there, we still had plenty of space. We were there for a local music festival so Chree had a hot breakfast for us over the weekend. There were 2 port o potties and 2 makeshift showers.

Nice quiet spot! Pretty much wild camping apart from the shower & portable toilet in the pop up tents.
Shower was nice & warm. Didn’t come across any water taps but water was provided in a plastic container was helpful for cooking & washing pots ect.
Loved the animals around the ranch too.

Very busy weekend for this Hipcamp with the festival. Lots of campers and there were no assigned spots so it was a free for all with campers spreading out. Additionally, there weren’t portable toilets as advertised, just one bucket with an enclosure around it for probably at least 75 people (25 campsites). We ended up only staying one of the three nights we paid $100/nt for, I reached out to the hostess to see about getting some sort of refund/discount but only received an aggressive response about how it is camping and that we aren’t her type of people. No refund no discount just out $310 because I paid $10 for a breakfast I didn’t even get to enjoy (which she told me was free, but I was charged for.
Apparently, she is building permanent restrooms and showers on the lot, hopefully they will be done for people to enjoy in the future and I hope they decide to designate sites with signage, it would be helpful when it’s as busy as it was.
Chree and Steve were BEYOND wonderful. We are so thankful to have ended up crossing paths with them. They were incredibly accommodating, social, and spent a decent amount of time swapping stories with us! We will definitely be back to see chree’s dreams for the place really play out. Thanks for having us!!

This ranch is absolutely beautiful. We had such a wonderful experience staying at Chree’s site. I highly recommend this for campers who are looking for accommodating hosts, well kept space, and a unique location. We hope to return next year!!

Great place that is close to everything you need. Owners and property are fantastic. Great place to bring the family as there are farm animals anyone would love. There is a crab apple tree that we fed to the horses. Would definitely recommend.

Our experience at Mountain Shadow Ranch was over the top! I camped with my husband, two kids and our dog. My kids could not get enough of all the farm animals. The property was well kept and quiet, and the other campers we encountered while there were respectful and kept to themselves. The hosts even invited us to pet the horses when they fed them hay. The property was close to Columbia Falls (4 minutes to coffee!) and 10 minute to Whitefish, maybe 25 minutes to Glacier, yet very serene and peaceful. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Our stay here was amazing! We actually were planning on staying somewhere else, but when we found out that location was SUPER creepy, in a frantic search we were able to book immediately with Chree and it was a LIFESAVER. The drive out to the property is gorgeous, and we all felt very safe. We were very thankful for the fancy firepits, the access to trash cans, the 5 minute drive to Whitefish and 25 minute drive to Glacier. If I am ever back in the area, I will be sure to book with Chree again!
Such an awesome primitive campground! Plenty of trees for shade and to hang our hammocks. Loved the bucket toilet with everything you really need, and a nice touch of a jug of water at each site to put out your fire. The farm animals were friendly and we felt safe and slept so well! If we are ever in the area again we will be back!

This new camp will just keep getting better. They have big plans. It is a beautiful property in a great location.
A relatively new hip camp just getting going great host in a superior location quiet and away from everybody else lots of shade a little tough to get solar on your panels if that’s your thing but if you stick around and move the panels with the sun you’ll be OK great access to the park not too far to town really exceptional location
Like the other reviewer said they have a Porta John in a tent but we brought our own they provide water for your fire control needs but you need to bring your own portable water for drinking
These posts are actively working to make this a great hip camp they have plans for water and bathrooms and showers RV hook ups the works I can’t wait till it’s all done it’s a great place to stay

Ok overall. Wouldn't really recommend. Hosts incredibly nice, but there was horse poop all over the camping area, and the toilet was exceptionally primitive/essentially just a bucket. Camping platforms and a vault toilet would improve this site significantly.

Fantastic spot with great hosts! Lots of animals around to pet and they provided an amazing breakfast.
Great place to be and recharge. Chree is a great host. Stay here if you have good camper etiquette, respectful, and polite.

This was our first time using hip camp and it was an excellent experience! Chree was a wonderful host for the weekend. She came to the camping area and introduced herself to everyone. There were cute little wooden benches and fire pits set up for multiple camps. There was a porta potty and trash bins around. We had a great time here and felt that Chree was a wonderful host and took care of her guests well! Would highly recommend to anyone!
