Creature comforts
Enjoy the comforts of home—including flush toilets, showers, and a kitchen.
Zoo Town Surfers is a small, family-owned rafting company located on the beautiful Alberton Gorge of the Clark Fork River. Similar to a farm stay, this is a living, breathing rafting company. We employ professional guides, several of whom also live or camp on-site. Every Thursday, we host a community paddle through the Alberton Gorge that brings together 20–30 members of the local kayaking community. We are a hub for paddlers of all kinds! The campsite overlooks the Alberton Gorge and faces a bald eagle nesting area and Roller Coaster Rapid, where you can watch paddlers and commercial rafting trips pass by while enjoying the relaxing, endless river waves. The site is flat, can accommodate large RVs, and includes water and electric hookups. We do not offer sewer hookups, but there is a dump station just a few miles down the road. Our communal deck provides an even better view of the rapids and features a propane fire pit, picnic table, chairs, and a grill. Our bathhouse includes an indoor bathroom, an indoor shower, an outdoor shower, and an outdoor dishwashing sink. Hipcamp Guest Discount on River Adventures! Hipcamp guests receive 20% off all Zoo Town Surfers rafting adventures. There's nothing more convenient than stepping outside your door and hopping on the shuttle for a rafting, kayaking, river surfing, or packrafting adventure. We've been guiding travelers safely down our local rivers for over 20 years!Flat and Level site with a beautiful view down into the Alberton Gorge looking right at Roller Coaster rapid. A mating pair of Bald Eagles live in our Eddy, and often can be seen in the trees below. Sit in your chair and watch the rafters and kayakers float by! Our elevated deck looks out over the river and is a great place to watch the sunset next to our propane fire pit. We also have a wood fire pit on site. Our bath house is fully on-grid with running water, flush toilet, and a hot shower. The campsite has access to 20amp 110 power, and water tanks can be filled via a hose from our well. There is no sewer hookup (but you have the bath house) Rafting company on site! We offer 20% off all of our adventures to guests staying on-site with us. However this is a living breathing family run raft company. Our trips meet at 10am and 2pm and around those times there will be customers and other guides on property- using the bath house, and the backyard/deck space. Other activities nearby include the Great American Rail Trail- which runs through our property. River Access at Ralph’s and Triple Bridges can both be biked/walked to from our property without getting on the highway. One of the best swimming holes on the river is just a short bike ride away. The Highway (I-90) is close to our property, as it is for many properties on the Clark Fork River. The campsite is in one of the quietest areas of our property- but highway noise is still a thing. Zoo Town’s owners Tom and Amelie live in the cabin on property with their daughter Neve and dog Sage. There also may be 3-4 guides living on property at any time in campers, school bus conversions or tents. We only employ professional guides and especially with our young daughter- our property is not a party scene. We love living here and look forward to sharing this corner of Montana with you and hopefully getting you out on the river!
